RIM planning to announce new BlackBerry Bold with touchscreen and web-friendly OS?

The BlackBerry Storm wasn’t so hot as the SurePresstouchscreen didn’t do very well. The Storm 2 seems to be doing a little better. But it looks like RIM has a new touchscreen device. The rumors are pointing to something along the lines of the Bold editions.

This one would have a full QWERTY keypad and incorporate a touch-sensitive landscape display. RIM also apparently intends to release a new web-friendly OS with this device. True or not, we will know soon.

BlackBerry Bold in white

BlackBerry Bold in whiteYou knew it had to happen eventually. RIM has just outed the new BlackBerry Bold in white, with a white leather back. It will arrive on AT&T for $200 on October 18th. We aren’t sure why they would re-color the Bold with the Bold 2 apparently coming soon, but they have some sort of strategy it seems.

It will be here just in time for a white Christmas. It’s also the perfect BB for a white wedding. It’s up to you to decide if its tacky or cool in white. We are undecided.

Some BlackBerry Bold phones overheating in Japan

Posted in BlackBerry by Conner Flynn on February 27th, 2009

Some BlackBerry Bold phones overheating in JapanIt wasn’t long after the Blackberry Bold went on sale in Japan, that DoCoMo had to pull it off the shelves after reports of early adopters having possible overheating problems. Of the 4000 units sold, DoCoMo was notified of about 30 such complaints.

The numbers don’t seem that big, but DoCoMo is being cautious and halting sales, pending an investigation from Blackberry . You see, unlike this country, service is big in Japan. So far Blackberry has been able to deduce that the problem is not with the battery and says that this issue is limited to only Japanese Bold phones.

G1 and BlackBerry Bold get the Colorware treatment

G1 and BlackBerry Bold get the Colorware treatmentIf a gadget has sufficiently proven itself and done well in school, won our hearts and minds, it will eventually be rewarded with the chance to get itself the Colorware treatment. That time has come for the G1 and the Bold, and we are very proud, despite not being their parents.

It will cost you $150 to dress up your current T-Mobile handset in technicolor, or the company will ship you a brand new one $725. The BlackBerry Bold will cost $139 and $674 for the makeover. The price is steep sure, but with rave colors like this, you can’t afford not to have your handset match your pacifier and fancy light-sticks.

RIM gives the Blackberry Bold an official launch

Blackberry Bold from Research In MotionHere it is. RIM has finally taken the wraps off the Blackberry 9000 we’ve been hearing rumors about and officially launched the Blackberry Bold. Reportedly the latest smartphone from Research In Motion gets the “Bold” name from the exceptionally crisp and bright display that comes with it.

That display comes as a 480×320 pixel, 65,000 color VGA screen that according to Crave is better than anything else they have ever seen. The other most notable feature is the wireless connection options available on this guy. It’s a GSM 850/900/1800/1900 phone and has HSDPA/UMTS (850/1900/2100) support which has never before been available on a Blackberry, and apparently they’ve done it right without sacrificing battery life in the process. Let’s also not forget that the Blackberry Bold is also connected via Wi-Fi (a/b/g), Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS.
