This isn’t much of a surprise considering how well the game has done everywhere, but according to ChartTrack, Call of Duty: Black Ops has now become the UK’s best selling game of all time, beating its closest rival, Modern Warfare 2.

Since its launch last November, 3,722,411 copies of the game have been sold in the UK alone. This comes after Activision had announced that Black Ops was already the best selling game ever across North America and Europe, with 33% more unique players than Modern Warfare 2. Proof that a well crafted game will reward it’s makers.

Out of all of the games on PSN, which do you think is the bestselling? Surely something that’s been getting sales for a while right? Wrong. Angry Birds, which was just released on the PlayStation Network in January of this year, has already become the best-selling game on the platform. That’s pretty amazing when you think of all of the other big PSN games. Those birds have channeled their anger to become an unstoppable force.

The info comes from Lazard Capital Markets analyst Colin Sebastian. He didn’t give any specific sales figures, but he did say that PSN now has “75M registered accounts Worldwide, half of those are in North America, with over 1.4B pieces of content downloaded since launch. He also stated that PSN is becoming more popular among more casual users. Yeah, obviously that’s true.

The information comes from NPD. The folks at Treyarch are surely celebrating. Now comes the hard part. Having to outdo themselves and make an even better game so they can do it again and celebrate some more.
