Have you been on the fence about getting a Nexus S? Well, Best Buy has announced that starting last night (August 2nd) at midnight it will begin offering the Google Nexus S for free. You’ll still have to have a two-year agreement with AT&T, Sprint, or T-Mobile, but it beats full price.

Better hurry because if you wait a day later the price will jump back up. We imagine Best Buy will be very busy today with this news.

HTC Flyer for preorder at Best Buy on April 24th

Posted in HTC by Conner Flynn on April 24th, 2011

Our friends in Europe have been able to preorder the HTC Flyer for months, and now we will soon be able to as well. The Flyer will be available for preorder on April 24th (Today) for $499 with Best Buy as the exclusive seller.

Those in Europe have been able to get 3G versions, but the one hitting the states is just WiFi. Better than nothing right? The Flyer features a 7-inch (1024 x 600) display, aluminum body, 1.5GHz Qualcomm chip, and a version of the company’s Sense UI that is optimized for tablets. It ships with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), but HTC says there will be an eventual upgrade to 3.0 (Honeycomb).

Nintendo Wii at Toys R Us and Best Buy for $169.99

Posted in Nintendo by Conner Flynn on April 17th, 2011

The glory days of Nintendo’s console are well behind it and so on May 15th it is due to get a lower price to move more units. But why wait? Both Best Buy and Toys ‘R’ Us already have the Wii console on sale for $170 today.

It doesn’t appear to be a permanent price cut as it states that it is a “Limited Time Offer!” but we are pretty sure other retailers follow this trend very soon. After all, every Wii sold at $170 puts some money in the big N’s pockets so it can produce something capable of doing better than 480p.

Nikon should start shipping body-only options soon as well. Amazon is already taking pre-orders for $800. The accompanying ME-1 external mic will arrive on April 21st. Better go hit up Best Buy.

Roku XD media hub arrives at Best Buy

Posted in Media Players by Conner Flynn on March 30th, 2011

Roku made a grand entrance onto the retail scene on Wednesday, by landing a deal with Best Buy. The stores will carry the Roku XD both in retail and online. This is the first time one of the company’s networked media hubs will be available at stores across the US without a rebranding.

To refresh your memory, the XD can play 1080p video, supports 802.11n Wi-Fi and has a remote with the instant replay button. It lacks the dual-band Wi-Fi, component video out and USB of the XDS, but both can do Amazon Video, Hulu Plus, Netflix, and live sports from the MLB and NHL.

Best Buy to host 3DS midnight launches

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Conner Flynn on March 21st, 2011

Gamer anticipation is reaching critical mass as it is now less than one week until the Nintendo 3DS launches. Sure the line-up of launch games leaves us a little cold, but more games will come in due time and at least we will get to hold the 3DS in our hands.

Those who live in New York have another reason to be excited about the 3DS launch. Nintendo is throwing a midnight launch event. It starts at 9:00 PM EDT at the Best Buy in Union Square. There will be plenty of hands-on 3DS demos, food, music, and giveaways. Probably a bunch of people in costume too. Sounds like a good time. Additional Best Buy locations will also be selling the device at midnight, but maybe with not so much fanfare.

Best Buy Canada will carry iPad 2 on March 25th

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 21st, 2011

Canadian Best Buy stores will not be missing out on selling the iPad 2. In fact they will start selling them on March 25th, according to one store worker who quoted a manager on the matter. You can apparently expect them to be available at 10am friday when stores open on a first come first served basis and obviously you can expect long lines.

It might be more difficult to get an iPad 2 in Canada at launch though, due to the small number of Apple Stores around cities like Montreal and Toronto. There’s also the fact that Apple has also traditionally made the US a priority, diverting the bulk of inventory to the US. Despite these things, hopefully most Canadians who want one can get one without too much trouble at launch.

Best Buy Nexus S $100 on contract, two weeks only

Posted in Best Buy by Conner Flynn on March 10th, 2011

So you’ve been wanting a Nexus S, but have been on the fence. Well, get off that fence and into Best Buy. Best Buy has knocked a full $100 off the phone for a limited time only if you’re signing up for a contract.

From today until March 23rd you can get that price and apparently your local Best Buy doesn’t even need to be a T-Mobile dealer for you to get the deal. You’ll just need to get the phone shipped to you. Sound good? Snag up this deal before it goes away.

Best Buy to give iPads to sales staff?

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on March 6th, 2011

A report suggests that all Best Buy sales staff may receive iPads soon. The info comes from Forbes who received a tip from a “source with knowledge of corporate mobile device deployments,” who claims that an iPad roll-out for staff will happen for one of America’s top ten retailer’s with about 1,100 stores. So it would seem that they mean Best Buy, which has been an Apple Partner since the launch of the original iPad.

The retailer already has 27 Connected World stores, where sales staff are equipped with iPads, and other mobile devices. This could be part of a plan to expand the pilot program of Connected Word stores to all of its stores nationwide.

iWatchz 6G iPod nano watchbands now at Best Buy

Posted in iPod Nano by Conner Flynn on February 27th, 2011

You love your 6G iPod nano right? So why not make it act as two gadgets in one, by making it a watch? There are plenty of watchbands on the market today that will let you wear your nano on your wrist, but most have to be ordered online or in Apple retail stores.

Well, if you don’t live near an Apple store, Best Buy will be carrying the full iWatchz Q series of bands for the nano. The bands are made from silicone and come in several colors. Best Buy will carry all of the colors and the bands will sell for just under $25. Great news.
