Geek makes street legal BSG Viper car

Posted in Automotive by Shane McGlaun on April 6th, 2010

I was really into the original Battlestar Galactica back in the day when it was on TV. I had the toys and never missed an episode of the show. I was mad when it got cancelled. When Sci-Fi bought the show back to TV, I was excited and mad again when it was cancelled the second time.

A BSG loving mechanic at an amusement park has created his own street legal Viper from the original BSG series that he can drive around. I bet he gets all the geek boo-tay he can handle in this thing.

10 Awesome Robot Halloween Pumpkins

Posted in Robots by Conner Flynn on October 12th, 2009

Halloween PumpkinsHalloween is almost here and while we all have a healthy fear of witches, ghosts, monsters and zombies, it’s robots that we should really be afraid of. Robots are capable of killing every creature on that list and then turning on us.

That’s why I’m proposing that we phase out all of the old monster decorations and Jack-o-lantern faces and replace them with robots. If you don’t fear them now, you will wish you had feared them sooner one cool October night when a red-eyed robot TPs a house with your intestines.

Build your own Battlestar Galactica Viper rocket

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on August 7th, 2009

Build your own Battlestar Galactica Viper rocketAh memories. Remember the Battlestar and Star Trek replica rockets from Estes? That was about 20 years ago. Estes discontinued them a long time ago, but you can still build one today.

Verna Rockets has the full skinny on its own builds, with links to several sites for parts and instructions. So what are you waiting for? Go build a flying model rocket that looks like a Viper, the U.S.S. Enterprise, and even The Black Hole Space Probe from “The Black Hole” movie. This is really awesome news. Anytime you combine rockets with Battlestar Galactica, it’s all win.

Still, we’re keeping our eyes peeled and we are your first line of defense. When they do strike, we will be ready with up to the minute updates. Here’s some of what we covered this week.

Magic: Octavia the robot gets fooled.

RoboFlush: For the extremely lazy.

T-Shirt: Robots In Disguise.

Fall Out Boy: New Robot Comic Books.

Bluetribe Bluetooth 2.1 headphones

Posted in Headphones by Conner Flynn on January 23rd, 2009

Bluetribe Bluetooth 2.1 headphonesBluetribe is a new pair of Bluetooth 2.1 headphones with a distinctly unique look from Sigma-Apo of Japan. It will sell with ear pads designed to fit most ears. Fans of Battlestar Galactica will like these right away, as the hexagon shape looks straight from the show. We’re not sure whether these will appeal to non BSG geeks or not, but they are different and retro.

The headphones can operate wirelessly with your iPod for up to 8 hours. They should be available at the end of this month for about 9,980 yen or $112. Looks like these may be a Japan-only deal though.
