1973 GT Opel Batmobile is one odd Bat-carAccording to the description on this eBay auction, some nutty doctor in California took a 1973 GT Opel and converted it into a Batmobile to bring to the hospital for kids. The kid part is a noble idea. But a 1973 Opel? It’s unique, we have to give him that.

The auction ended at $9,000.00. Some of the specs include: a SONY Digital Navigation System #NVX-F160, SONY Pre-Amp XDP-U50D, SONY 10 Disk CD Changer CDX-U404, SONY Hi-8 VCR, Pioneer CD player DEH-85 in the dash….comes with the batman theme on cd!, Alpine Bat Phone #91530, Super Nintendo NES Game system with Batman Forever game, SONY Interface Equalizer #XE-744 and a whole lot more. Strange, but we dig it.

Paper-craft Batmobile Tumbler from The Dark Knight
The new Batman movie came out yesterday. I know many of you will be rushing to the theaters today. While I haven’t been able to see it yet and have a two hour nerdgasm, at least I can play with a paper version of the Dark Knight’s car. I’m talking papercraft! The design was created by paper model expert Claudio. With hundreds of individual pieces, this thing will keep you busy longer then the movie will.

Batmobile Case mod on eBay
Kevin Core’s awesome Batmobile Case Mod that’s famous around the internet is now up for auction over at eBay. It’s a 1/6 scale Batmobile Tumbler with a desktop PC built inside.

The one of a kind case mod was even featured in Maximum PC magazine in January 2008 and features LED lighting, 7 hard drive activity leds, 3 of which are in the jet exhaust, 1 on each side and 2 in the front. Also has 10 white led headlights, stealth power switch and DVD eject buttons. It’s currently bid up to $227.50, which is a bargain for any Batman-crazy fan. It might even be cooler then the ‘66 Lego Batmobile.

Awesome ‘66 Barris Lego Batmobile
Check out this amazingly detailed ‘66 Barris Batmobile LEGO replica. The creator has a great eye for detail and even included a Bat-Phone in the car. The Batman and Robin figures are pretty awesome too.

Now, if Lego had this kind of amazing creation sitting on the store shelves, I’d be buying one faster then 1960’s Batman can slide down the Bat-pole. I’d love to see what the creator would do with the rest of the Bat-verse. Definitely a high point in an otherwise slow news day.

Flatmobile: Gotham’s lowrider

Flatmobile: Gotham’s lowrider
The Batman inspired Flatmobile just might be the flattest vehicle on Gotham’s city streets. It really looks like Batman’s ride got flattened by a steamroller. I suppose it would not look too out of place, with a midget in Batman costume.

It’s 19″ tall and is supposedly the world’s flattest car that isn’t really a go-kart. The Flatmobile is powered by a jet engine with it’s own custom afterburner, that can deliver 90lbs of thrust powering the Flatmobile to speeds in excess of 100mph. In other words, this car can go fast enough to go rocketing UNDER other cars.
