Power Up Charging Stand recharges the Wii Balance BoardAfter a full day of shedding pounds with the Wii Fit and several rounds of Punch-Out, you’ll want to recharge your balance board. Mad Catz’ upcoming Power Up Charging Station will take care of you and get you back in the game in no time.

The stand comes bundled with a special, contact-charging battery that replaces the standard AAs. Just load the battery into the board, the board into the stand, and your Balance Board recharges. Mad Catz also integrated two USB ports into the stand’s body, to charge your other gear. A foot pedal releases your board.

Surely Nintendo didn’t think they would be the only Balance Board dealer in town. Njoy will introduce its own version of the Wii Fit accessory on September 12th. It’s a bit more-expensive at $130. But hey, their model has a built-in LCD display, set just forward enough to see it past your huge gut. Presumably it displays weight etc.

A group of German students have somehow managed to use the Wii Balance Board from Wii-Fit to navigate their way around Google Earth. Specifically to surf Google Earth. Talk about a creative way to use a Wii accessory.

It’s really not all that impressive, and these guys are no Silver Surfer, but I guess it’s the first step in being able to fly or surf around the world virtually. And when that day comes, it will be sweet to do this in a nerd hero costume, while playing theme music. Video below.

Wii Fit date confirmed and priced at $89.99

Wii Fit coming to the US May 19 for $89.99This news may be a little bit old for some, but just in case you hadn’t heard the Wii Fit game from Nintendo which is bundled with the Wii Fit Balance Board has gotten an official release date and now an official price. $89.99 will be the price tag associated with Wii Fit on its May 19 US launch date. This price includes both the game and the board bundled together.

In the short time since the announcement, pre-orders for the Wii Fit on Amazon has moved up into the number one position with an 885,500 percent increase in just a day, not to mention all the accessories. Needless to say, it looks like this is going to be another hot item for Nintendo this year.
