Asus makes all sorts of devices from computers to video cards and last year I got my hands on one of the firm’s first smartphones and found it lacking. Hopefully Asus has cleaned up its act now that it has teamed up with GPS leader Garmin.
Garmin and Asus have announced the new nuvifone models will be available in Taiwan on July 27. The devices will be in other areas of Asia by the end of August and hit the U.S. in the second half of 2009. Two models will be offered including the G60 and M20.


ASUS has announced a new range of TV monitors, the T1 series. Available in 21.5-inch, 23.6-inch and 27-inch versions, the T1s offer a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 5ms response time, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 20,000:1 contrast ratio and a built-in TV tuner for both digital and analog signals.
Asus just unveiled its RT-N16 Wireless-N Gigabit router that offers up to 300Mbps maximum wireless throughput speeds. The RT-N16 also sports 128MB of video memory and an advanced CPU that ASUS claims makes it eight times faster in benchmark tests than similar products.

A Disney branded Netpal netbook for kids, available in “Princess Pink” or “Magic Blue” colors. (the latter even has tiny Mickey Mouse icons).
The ASUS Eee PC T91 has officially debuted on the company’s US website, and according to one dealer it’s set to hit stores this week. The 8.9-inch convertible touchscreen netbook is already available in the UK and features Intel’s Z520 1.33GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD.
The new Asus My Cinema-EHD3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/MCE RC PCI-express Dual TV card is designed for users who want to watch and record both digital (ATSC/QAM) and analog (NTSC) TV channels at the same time. The device is embedded with an MPEG2 hardware encoder that dramatically reduces CPU loading while guaranteeing high quality video.

I am a big fan of netbooks with their small and portable designs and low price tags. The little machines have been able to do everything I expect out of a notebook when I have used them, albeit at a bit slower pace.
