Asus makes all sorts of devices from computers to video cards and last year I got my hands on one of the firm’s first smartphones and found it lacking. Hopefully Asus has cleaned up its act now that it has teamed up with GPS leader Garmin.

Garmin and Asus have announced the new nuvifone models will be available in Taiwan on July 27. The devices will be in other areas of Asia by the end of August and hit the U.S. in the second half of 2009. Two models will be offered including the G60 and M20.

ASUS has announced a new range of TV monitors, the T1 series. Available in 21.5-inch, 23.6-inch and 27-inch versions, the T1s offer a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 5ms response time, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 20,000:1 contrast ratio and a built-in TV tuner for both digital and analog signals.

The T1 series also features 7W speakers and multiple connectors including two HDMI, two SCART, a D-Sub, Composite, Component, S-Video, an audio-in, a S/PDIF out, an audio out and an earphone out. The T1 monitors should be launched soon.

Asus just unveiled its RT-N16 Wireless-N Gigabit router that offers up to 300Mbps maximum wireless throughput speeds. The RT-N16 also sports 128MB of video memory and an advanced CPU that ASUS claims makes it eight times faster in benchmark tests than similar products.

The Asus RT-N16 can handle smooth file transfers and downloads, video streaming, wireless gaming and VoIP calls. Other features include a few USB ports for easy file transfer, Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) security and an easy to use visual interface.

ASUS has taken a fairly basic USB Blu-ray drive and given it a high-gloss makeover. The SBC-04B1S-U isn’t gonna wow you with 4.8x maximum Blu-ray disc reading, 8x DVD burning, a USB 2.0 connection, and Windows compatibility.

The bright blue ‘X’ on the unit flashes and has a dedicated app to control brightness. My main concern with this X is that it might attract government agents looking to give Fox Mulder some deepthroat-like info.

Last we heard the Eee keyboard was supposed to be available in May/June. Now Asus has confirmed that its Eee keyboard, originally shown at CES, will be arriving in August. The company’s marketing executive, John Swatton, revealed the news while launching several new laptops.

The Eee Keyboard will be the first wireless media center enabled by ultra wideband HDMI, meaning you’ll be able to stream HD content from your lap to your television. It’s good looking sure, but it is also packing Wi-Fi, Ethernet, speaker, mic, and a 5-inch touchscreen display, as well as a 32GB SSD to store all that HD content on.

Disney gadgets always tend to be more about branding than giving you a decent gadget, but we know that some of you will still want to check out the love child of ASUS and Disney. A Disney branded Netpal netbook for kids, available in “Princess Pink” or “Magic Blue” colors. (the latter even has tiny Mickey Mouse icons).

Each netbook features a kid-friendly Disney interface and built-in parental controls, as well as some customizable themes based on Mickey Mouse, Toy Story, Wall-E, and other Disney stuff they need to pimp out.

The ASUS Eee PC T91 has officially debuted on the company’s US website, and according to one dealer it’s set to hit stores this week. The 8.9-inch convertible touchscreen netbook is already available in the UK and features Intel’s Z520 1.33GHz Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and a 16GB SSD.

It also sports ASUS’ Super Hybrid Engine, which can be used to boost battery life to up to 5hrs, and optional HSDPA cellular connectivity. Standard wireless includes WiFi draft-n and Bluetooth. Other options are a TV tuner and GPS receiver.

The new Asus My Cinema-EHD3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/MCE RC PCI-express Dual TV card is designed for users who want to watch and record both digital (ATSC/QAM) and analog (NTSC) TV channels at the same time. The device is embedded with an MPEG2 hardware encoder that dramatically reduces CPU loading while guaranteeing high quality video.

Using the PCI Express x1 interface, it will get transmission speeds of up to 500MB/s(almost 3 times faster than that of a conventional PCI bus which runs at 133MB/s). This will give you smooth pictures regardless of the broadcast content. The Asus My Cinema-EHD3-100/NAQ/FM/AV/MCE RC will also let you keep a constant eye on what’s going on on TV while engaged in other PC-based activities. Dubbed ASUS GadgeTV, this widget adds a small window on the Windows Vista sidebar, allowing users to watch record and take snapshots of live TV from their sidebars.

Any PC gamer or multimedia fan will tell you that a fast CPU and good graphics are only parts of what you need for a full gaming computer or HTPC. One of the most important parts of these types of systems are often overlooked — sound.

DTS has announced that a pair of new Asus mainboards are now available that feature new DTS surround sound technology. The tech is called DTS Surround Sensation UltraPC and the Asus P5Q Pro Turbo and M4A79T mainboards are the first retail products to offer the sound technology.

The Asus Eee PC T91, the first touchscreen convertible netbook from the Taiwanese tech giant, will be making its way over to the UK within a month, and we now have some info on the price. The Asus Eee PC T91 was unveiled at CES in January, but Asus UK has kept quiet about a launch date for the tablet/netbook. Now we can report that the Asus Eee PC T91 will launch in either late May or early June in the region for £449.

The current specs for a UK version are still to be set in stone, but in January, Asus claimed the 9-incher with TV tuner and GPS pretty much has standard netbook internals.

Asus just announced their latest laptop, the F6V, a 13.3 inch notebook computer. It would be not very noteworthy except that it comes with one of two different infused scents. Both sounding pretty foul when you think about them coming from your computer.

It comes in either “morning dew” or “musky black”. Sure, it smells nice, Or so we hope. But what else does it have? Some other features are an ATI Radeon HD4570 graphics processor, 1280×800 resolution screen, stereo speakers and a 1.3M webcam. It’s available in either white or black.

Asus just released the new Express TV Stick that features high quality digital (DVBT) and analog TV signal reception. The device allows you to watch TV and enjoy access to multimedia entertainment wherever you find yourself.

Just plug the Asus Express TV Stick into your USB slot, and the built-in Asus Pop-Up TV technology will instantly display TV channels without requiring any manually launched programs. So it couldn’t be easier. It’s fully compatible with Microsoft Vista Home Premium, Vista Home Basic, Vista Ultimate, and Windows XP platforms.

You just have to wait patiently for a few months, when Asus will roll out its latest nettop, the EeeBOX B208. This model will have Intel’s Atom 330 processor under the hood with the following specifications:

The Asus Eee PC1004DN is the first Eee PC to feature a Super-Multi optical disc drive, which lets users read and write optical discs for convenient data back-ups. A power-efficient Express Card slot provides expansion capabilities, along with plug-and-play compatibility and auto-configuration access.

The Asus Super Hybrid Engine (SHE) technology will give you an extended battery life while on-the-go. The Asus Eee PC1004DN also features the Asus Data Security System (ADSM) which gives users the option of logging-on using their fingerprints. It will recognize multiple fingerprints belonging to the same user and allow you to encrypt a single folder with the same security system.

I am a big fan of netbooks with their small and portable designs and low price tags. The little machines have been able to do everything I expect out of a notebook when I have used them, albeit at a bit slower pace.

Asus has hoards of Eee netbooks in its line, which is a bit confusing to many shoppers. The company has added an additional notebook called the 1002H that has appeared on the Asus website. The new machine uses the Atom N280 CPU running at a 1.66GHz clock speed.
