The small and compact netbook might make for a good way to watch movies on the go. The big downside is that the average notebook has no optical drive making watching DVD movies impossible. You can download digital films or stream digital content when you are connected online though.

Blockbuster and Archos have announced that the new and slick Archos 10 netbook will be offered for sale in 1,000 corporate owned Blockbuster locations around the country. The netbook will sell for $299.99 and has a 10-inch screen and a keyboard.

Archos has added a new netbook to its range in the form of the Archos 10s. This baby is slim and light measuring only 0.87 inches thick and weighing just 2.2 pounds. But aside from that, the specs remain the same to the original Archos 10.

Those specs are: a 10.2-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, a 1GB of RAM, a 80GB hard drive, Microsoft Windows XP Home OS and your choice of either three-cell or six-cell battery. The Archos 10s will be available later this month for an unknown price.

Archos has announced the Archos9, a UMPC that runs Windows 7. Its predecessors may be basic touchscreen internet media tablets, but the Archos9 can run a full OS. Some other features include a built-in webcam, 120GB of memory, full touch support, an external mic, streo speakers, and an optical trackpad as well as an on-screen keyboard.

The tablet will be available in Europe this October, just in time for Windows 7′s release. It will cost you €450 ($635).

We’ll probably hear more about it at MWC, but Texas Intruments issued a press release about Archos’s use of the OMAP3 processor in an upcoming “Internet Media Tablet” that runs on Android and doubles as a phone. There aren’t any pictures yet, but the spec sheet reads like an upgraded Archos 5.

Some features include a five-inch screen, up to a 500GB hard drive, a battery that will give you up to seven hours of video playback, and Flash support. The whole thing in a package just 10mm thick. They even mention HD video playback.

Archos is taking its first step into the world of laptops, announcing today its first mini laptop. It is called the Archos 10 and it prices around $400 for a three-cell battery model and $450 for a six-cell battery model.

The Archos 10 is pretty much a netbook, the latest category laptops to be garnering the attention of consumers. This particular model runs off of an Intel Atom processor and 1GB of memory. The operating system is Windows XP, 160GB of hard drive storage are available and it sports a 10.2-inch display.

Archos recently unveiled a special in-car holder for its Archos 605 WiFi portable media player line. This accessory is called the Archos GPS In-Car Holder and you’ll find it pricing around $130.

The Archos GPS In-Car Holder has the actual GPS functionality built into it, using the 605 WiFi as an interface for viewing maps and navigation functions. The holder connects to the car windshield and the PMP is put into the holder. Built-in line out lets you create a “full voice and video navigation system.”

Archos showed up at CES this week with its own taking on the DVR category. It’s calling its product the Archos TV+ and it should be pricing at around $250 for a 80GB model and $350 for a 250GB one.

The Archos TV+ is, according to Archos, both a TV recording device and a wireless receiver for enjoying digital media content via your television. It can connect to both your home network and the Internet to stream video content, music and photos. You can also browse Web pages, check online email, synch content recorded to it to an Archos PMP and record video in VGA resolution.

Archos, maker of a number of cool, higher-end media players, is now bringing its smaller 5th generation Archos 105 to the U.S. adding to the already-high competition present in this mini media player market.

It comes in colors of black, red and silver and in only a single capacity configuration of 2GB. Inside the super-slim 0.3″ frame the player supports playback of MP3, WMA and WAV audio files. What really makes this player is the fact that it also takes advantage of a 1.8” OLED display at 160 x 128 dpi with 262,000 colors to play WMV files so you can take your recorded TV episodes with you. And of course you can view still JPEG’s with it, too.

ARCHOS recently announced the launch of their new Gen 5 lineup of personal media players leading out with the ARCHOS 605 WiFi as an upgrade to the 604 WiFi model featuring higher quality screen resolution and easier access media content. It features a higher resolution 800 x 480 4.3 inch touch screen, WiFi connectivity and comes in sizes of 4GB flash with an SD card slot or drive capacities of 30GB, 80GB or 160GB.

ARCHOS takes more advantage of the WiFi capabilities with the Gen 5 versions through a couple of new services. On the 605 WiFi users can access the ARCHOS TV Program Guide to view show times and set the device to act as a DVR and record programs with a single touch. The DVR capabilities still unfortunately require a separate base station to make it all possible.

Just as the older 604-WiFi model, the 704 comes with video, music and photo playback, as well as full internet access whatever your needs may be. Archos is making a name for itself, and although for some it might not be the best name they are definitely not quitters. We actually kinda’ liked the Archos 604 video player for it’s sharp look and decent screen size. We liked it even more when the added WiFi to it and we noticed some of the cool accessories, like the helmet cam.

Today pictures of a new version of the player called the Archos 704 WiFi was revealed via the FCC and we couldn’t help but notice the words “MOBILE DVR” stamped on the front.

The Archos 604 is a portable multimedia player for all standard video formats in a full DVD resolution, including MPEG-4 ASP, WMV (and protected WMV) as well as MPEG-2 and VOB with a software plug in.

The Archos 604 has a 30G hard drive to store up to 130 hours of encoded video. The screen is a 4.3″ wide screen, which gives quite a bit more view that most portable video players out there. You can view them right on the screen, or output them to a full size television and still view them in DVD quality. Once uploaded you can use features to play the video, video editing and video bookmarking right on the player.
