This is a great design for a bridge. It retracts into itself like one of those rolly-polly bugs. It’s creator is Thomas heatherwick and it’s an award-winner as well as a fantastic addition to the grand union canal system in london. There are other movable canal bridges, but the rolling bridge curls up on itself to form an octagon by using hydraulics. Check out the video below to see it in action. It’s always nice to see a fresh take on an old theme. Turns out London bridges aren’t falling down, they’re just moving.

Fear not humans, this thing did not just land on our planet and demand that we submit to anal probing. It’s a house designed by Jérôme Olivet, who learned from Philippe Starck. The Jet House is designed to look as if it’s moving fast, despite the fact that it’s molded concrete structure is attached to a metallic building pad.

It’s a two-story structure, the floors connected by an elevator. Olivet calls the style “biomorphic,” and the lines are so beautifully rounded and streamlined that it is very calming. The thing obviously cost a fortune to build. I not only want to live in it, but I want to attach some lasers see it fly through space.

This Japanese teahouse resembles a futuristic glowing peanut SPACESHIP with a huge docking bay in front. This inflatable Japanese teahouse is designed by Kengo Kuma, and was created for an exhibit at the Museum für Angewandte Kunst Frankfurt. Inside you’ll find a bunch of LED lights that not only light the place up, but they also serve as an interior heat source.

Normally this type of structure does not make it past the drawing board, but the Japanese have more guts then we do when it comes to architecture. It almost looks like a real living organism. Put a few futuristic fighting samurai outside guarding the door and you have yourself the opening to a cool Sci-Fi flick.
