New APC UPS devices offer energy efficiency technology |

APC recently unveiled some new uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) units which it says are more energy efficient. These models are part of the APC Back-UPS ES line up and range from around $45 to $100.
APC said the APC Back-UPS ES line uses charging technology “which allows the product’s master outlet to sense when the computer has either been turned off or has gone into sleep mode, so it can shut off power to unused peripherals plugged into the controlled outlets.” The APC Back-UPS ES 450, 550 and 650 models feature eight surge protected outlets, with four of the outlets also providing battery backup. The APC Back-UPS ES 750 offers ten surge protected outlets, with five of the outlets also providing battery backup. There is also a 350 model that features six surge protected outlets.

APC is out today with news of a new power strip it says “provides home computer systems guaranteed protection from damaging surges and spikes, while saving electricity.” It is called the Power-Saving SurgeArrest and it prices around $35.
APC is not just about doing back up power solutions for your home or small business network. It also has products in other power related categories such as A/V gear. One of its newest offerings is the APC H15 Power Conditioner, priced at around $450. APC has also released a less expensive model, the H10, at around $350.
