NEC develops super-fast Analog to HD Video Conversion

Posted in NEC by Conner Flynn on November 9th, 2010

NEC has developed a new technology that makes it possible to quickly change low-res analog video to HD video. According to NEC, the existing solutions available require one full month to convert one hour of analog video images into HD images.

This new method is up to 17 times faster than conventional ones. The company’s new image processing technology changes one hour of analog into HD video in only 10 hours. Video material recorded on analog video could be remastered and shown in HD using this solution. Unclear images recorded on non-HD security cameras could also be sharpened this way.

Check out these awesome and retro Aspiral Clocks. They have no hands or digital displays. Instead they use balls to tell time in an ingeniously simple design.

The clock spins, moving the ball through the spiral. Every twelve hours the ball disappears in a hole at the center. Sadly at $545, it won’t end up in many homes. Still, it’s a unique way to tell time with some style and movement.

Feisbuk is Facebook without the computer and Internet

Feisbuk is just like popular social networking site “Facebook” except it’s all analog, with no need to connect to the internet using your computer. If you want to write on someones wall, just grab a pen, find their profile page and write.

It’s perfect for the addict who can’t access Facebook. Maybe you’re in jail or you are in some third world country with no internet access. Or maybe you just want to go off the grid, but will miss Facebook. It’s in Spanish, but hey you know your way around.

Time Tuner Alarm Clock looks like analog

Time Tuner Alarm Clock looks like analogHere’s a great design that can’t make up it’s mind as to whether it’s from the future or the past. We like it. The Time Tuner was created by Istanbul-based Antrepo Design Industry, who decided against the traditional digital clock face. It instead boasts an analog style that resembles a radio tuner.

It’s a lot like our favorite watches from Tokyoflash. The numbers along the length of the dial light-up to show you the hour. At the same time, an illuminated vertical red line moves across the dial for minutes. If you’re looking for a clock with style, look no further.

AKAT-1 analog computerWith all of the latest tech news we give you day in and day out, sometimes it’s nice to take a look into the past and honor the devices that paved the way for todays gadgets. This analog computer is known as the AKAT-1 and it can solve complex differential equations in real time and without digital logic.

But it’s a victim of time passing by, and now resides in the Museum of Technology, in Warsaw, Poland. You’ll notice it sports a very warm and stunning retro look. It has character. I mean it obviously belongs in a Trek ship, with Spock feeding it data. And yet by many it has been forgotten. We here at the Brick would love to have it in the offices, but our intern would just mess it up. Here’s to you AKAT-1.
