Razer Chimaera Gaming Headset with 5.1 Surround Sound

Razer’s new gaming headset called Chimaera features wireless connectivity, 5.1 stereo output with Surround Sound and large ear cups. The headsets are specially designed for Xbox gamers who want the best audio quality.

This headset delivers eight hours of battery life, which should be plenty of game time before you need a break to recharge them. The Razer Chimaera Wireless Gaming Headset for the Xbox will cost you about $199 and will be available this month.

Netflix for PS3 is now disc-free, with 1080i streaming and 5.1 surround sound

It’s a great time to be a PS3 owner as Netflix streaming just got better than anything else on the market. Beginning on October 18 Netflix on the PS3 will no longer require a disc, and it’ll stream some content with 1080i resolution and / or 5.1-channel surround audio.

You’ll also get subtitles on some content as well. Netflix is partnering with Dolby and the surround format will be Dolby Digital Plus. Netflix says that 5.1 will come to other platforms “over time,”. Makes me glad I have a PS3.

Psyko Audio first introduced these headphones at CES in 2009, and the first sets are now shipping. to consumers in North America. The price? An insane $299.99. So what do you get for the price?

You get “precise 3D sound that drastically heightens awareness of your gaming surroundings,” of course. So it must be worth it. Plus you get to look all Sci-Fi like.

Panasonic unveils Blu-ray HTiB system

Panasonic SC-BT100

Pansonic has itself its first new home theater in a box (HTiB) system with an integrated Blu-Ray Disc player set to go on sale. It is called the SC-BT100 and you’ll find it for around $1,000.

The Panasonic SC-BT100 includes speakers and a subwoofer for a 5.1 channel experience. It can be upgraded to wireless full 7.1 channel sound with the optional purchase of two side speakers and a transceiver. The included Blu-ray Disc player has “the Final Standard Profile for advanced functions such as Bonus View and audio mixing, which allows the consumer to switch the sound between the main and sub windows.”
