New Trek movie loaded on 4GB Star Trek Flash Drive |
Star Trek merchandising is only surpassed by Star Wars merchandising. Well, here’s the latest Merchandising Trek. The new film is being released on individually numbered 4GB Starfleet insignia USB drives. Yes, I too just heard ten million geeks sigh.
The drive is loaded with DRM, but you can run it on 5 registered devices and burn it to DVD, so that’s not too bad. It will cost you $29. Not sure what that amounts to in Starfleet credits, but it seems like an okay deal.

If you like small cars that can really zip around and you absolutely need one in your USB port, this one is for you. Green-House has created a new USB flash drive that takes the form of a 1959 mini cooper.
How we wish that Nintendo would get it together and offer these 4GB drives officially. Sigh. But at least they’re available on Etsy for $55 each. The Mario Brick comes in six feet varieties and costs only $19. There’s also Koopa, Goomba and the mushroom.
Now we have a leaked image that suggests Fido will be offering a 4GB iPhone 3G in the near future that will retail for $99, with quad-band EDGE and tri-band HSDPA connectivity, a 2-megapixel camera and iChat video calling, which means a front facing camera.
As we approach WWDC ‘09, more leaks are leaking. According to Engadget, a “trusted source” says that you will soon have a choice of 4, 8, 16, and 32GB iPhones. The source claims that the iPhones have been approved by the PCS Type Review Certification Board, which certifies models for use with some carriers.
Flash drives are great and all, but most are long and get in the way, whether in your laptop or wherever. They aren’t a good shape and size. Well, the EagleTec Nano from Brando is small. Tiny in fact. This tiny USB flash drive will cost you just $33 for 8GB and $22 for the 4GB.
Apple just doubled the capacity of the iPod shuffle to 4GB, but that’s not all. They’ve completely ditched the control wheel. The clip stays, but they’ve added VoiceOver, a new feature that tells you which song is playing and who performs it at the touch of a button on the earbud cable.
So, you’ve been waiting for the iPhone to hit Walmart, so you can stock up on paper towels, buy a DVD and throw an iPhone in your squeaky cart all at once. Well you’re in luck assuming you didn’t get killed by greedy shoppers during black Friday. Looks like Apple will begin selling the iPhone at Wal-Marts on December 28th.
Strangely, there have been two separate accounts of a 4GB version of the new and improved nano showing up on store shelves in the Netherlands. Strange because there was no announcement and no mention of a 4GB nano at Apple’s “Let’s Rock” event, so this image is a bit of a surprise. The sources are claiming that this nano comes in all 9 colors and is priced at $169. They appear to be the real deal and some are saying Limited Edition, while others are thinking Apple messed up.

PNY Technologies, a maker of computer memory products, and Ironkey, a developer of computer security products, are teaming up to create a co-branded USB flash drive for retail. The new PNY 4GB IronKey Secure USB Flash Drive is priced at around $150.
Amidst announcements of a number of new iPod products and product upgrades, Apple made a surprising move today by cutting the price of its iPhone, likely much to the dismay of early adopters. Apple is now selling the larger 8GB version of its iPhone for $399 which is down $200 from the original $599 price only a couple months after the products initial launch.
