The trading card is getting an upgrade, just like digital photo frames. Panini’s new trading cards will feature a small screen for video playback and 2GB of USB flash storage. They are a far cry from the trading cards we collected as kids.

Panini’s HRX (High Reel Xperience) cards aim to reinvent trading cards and hopefully change them forever. $20 will get you a pack of five cards. Random packs will have redeemable video card vouchers inside, which are just as rare as autographed and holographic cards. It will be interesting to see where this goes from here.

We’ve come across some strange USB flash drives in our day, but this may be the strangest. The Cat Tail flash drive. It’s for those who want their laptop to look like it just swallowed the cat.

With this drive you’re getting 2 full GB of fur. It’s probably not a good idea as your real cat will have a field day batting this thing while you are trying to work.

The Green Man USB drive holds 2GB of data and basically amounts to a happy green head sticking out of your laptop, while the body is off doing whatever it’s doing. Probably humping your wiimote. It’s available for $31.

Like the human skull usb drive, these rings will offer up 2 GB of storage. Great for Halloween or when you just want to punch somebody in the face and leave a lasting impression. Proving USB drives can both be ugly and functional Corsair rolled out today the Flash Padlock. This manual security code dependent device is available in 1GB ($30) and 2GB ($40) capacities.

What is perhaps most interesting about the Corsair Flash Padlock is that you can set a PIN up to 10 digits long for accessing the drive’s contents. You have to then enter this PIN on the keypad built into the drive’s body. The Flash Padlock also seems noteworthy for its security feature of automatically locking itself when you remove it from an attached PC.
