Dell’s 17-inch Precision M6600 workstation laptop hits the UK early

Dell’s latest laptop was supposed to arrive on May 10th, and that might turn out to be the date for the US, but the company’s UK outlet has the M6600 available today. The 17.3-inch laptop offers options like a multitouch display with stylus functionality, a 2.5GHz quad-core Core i7-2920XM CPU, 16GB of DDR3 RAM, up to half a terabyte (2x 256GB) in solid state storage, and NVIDIA Quadro 4000M graphics.

If those sound good to you, prices start at £1,549 ($2,590). The configuration above will cost you £4,714 ($7,880). Nice. If you have the money.

NEC MultiSync LCD175M 17-Inch Eco-Friendly LCD MonitorNEC has dropped yet another eco-friendly LCD monitor, this one aimed at business users. It’s called the MultiSync LCD175M, a 17-inch LCD monitor with an energy efficient display, reducing power consumption by nearly 42% compared to regular panels.

Some specs include a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, 5ms response time, 250 cd/m2 brightness and it features an EPEAT Gold rating, a TCO 5.0 certification and Energy Star 5.0 compliance. The NEC MultiSync LCD175M retails for just $179.

MSI launches 17-inch Turion X2 notebookMSI’s new AMD based notebook, the GX733 is aimed at gamers and multimedia fans. Hence the 17-inch screen and a 5.1 Dolby Theater class sound system, with a sub woofer. The notebook sports MSI’s ECO Engine so you can switch between five different power modes, each with offering different energy consumption and performance options.

Elivision puts 17-inch LCD display on a door

Elivision puts 17-inch LCD display on a doorElivision believes that when god closes a window, he opens a door…with a 17-inch LCD display on it. Or something like that. Anyway, a door like this may be attached to your home in the near future. Developed using a Linux-based DID board, the display is accompanied by a speaker.

We don’t have any word on the pricing or specs, but hear that the display supports a range of media files fed through a USB port. Check out a video after the jump.

17-inch MacBook Pro delayed

17-inch MacBook Pro delayedI know you’ve been waiting with bated breath on the 17-inch MacBook Pro. Sadly, it’s now delayed until at least February 19th. Apple is emailing all of it’s pre-order customers, “wrapping up the new 17-inch MacBook Pro is taking a few days longer than we projected,” and they say that orders won’t ship for another two weeks.

It must take some special time consuming busy-work to keep that sealed battery in place. Maybe they’re just taking a two week break in preparation for a busy time down the road, when all those MacBooks come back needing new batteries.

17-inch unibody MacBook Pro with internal battery rumored for MacworldAs expected, Apple has announced its 17″ MacBook Pro that has had the intertubez all abuzz prior to Macworld. It is 0.98″ thin and tips the scales at just 6.6 pounds. Now that’s not the lightest ever, but it is a 17-inch laptop. But it is the lightest and thinnest 17″ notebook in the world though.

Some features include: 17″ LED backlit display 1,920 × 1,200 resolution 700:1 contrast ratio 60% greater color gamut compared to its predecessor, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz Dual Core processor, 8GB 1066MHz DDR3 RAM and a 320GB hard drive. You also have the choice of a $50 anti-glare option if you want. There’s a trio of USB 2.0 ports on the left, a Mini DisplayPort, FireWire 800, digital audio in/out and an ExpressCard slot and all the other features you love.

NEC launches AccuSync 3-Series LCD displays

NEC AccuSync 3-Series LCD desktop displays in 17 inch and 19 inchNEC rolled out five new LCD monitors today in the new AccuSync 3 lineup of desktop displays, replacing the monitors in the AccuSync 2 series. The new line of LCDs boast brighter displays than their predecessors along with improved contrast while giving a no-frills display for a reasonable price.

NEC launched three new 17-inch displays – the ASLCD73VX, ASLCD73VX-BK, and the multimedia ASLCD73VXM-BK, and two 19-inchers with the ASLCD93VX-BK and the multimedia ASLCD93VXM-BK. The two multimedia models differ by housing built-in speakers.
