Is Microsoft working on the Xbox 720?

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on March 9th, 2011

Microsoft may be working on the next generation Xbox, which we might as well call the Xbox 720. This speculation comes from some recently posted some job listings on Linkedin for what seems to be Microsoft’s next generation console.

There are listings for an Audio/Video Hardware Architect, an Audio Architect and a Graphics Architect and the listings reference ‘next generation’ consoles, so this isn’t wild speculation. We have no idea when we might see a new console, but at least they are working on it.

The Xbox 360 can get seriously hot during gaming and you don’t the ‘red ring of death’ showing up. So what can you do? Well, you could try cooling your Xbox 360 system using this igneous cooling device which uses an air conditioning unit and some tubing.

You just need a cardboard box, some flexible tubing and plenty of tape. It may not be pretty, but it will cool your console down so that you can concentrate on playing Black Ops.

Grip-It covers for your game controllers

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on July 14th, 2010

Not sure why you would need these Grip-it covers for your Xbox 360 or the PS3, unless you have some sort of sweaty hand disease. I’ve had hands so sweaty that I couldn’t grip the analog stick on the PS3 controller. Ever. And I play plenty of games.

But if you do need to get a grip, these Grip-it analog covers are now available for both PS3 and Xbox controllers. Each pack comes with four covers. Like condoms for your loving controller partner. So you can cover the analog sticks on two controllers for $4.99.

Sonic the Hedgehog on the XBox 360

Posted in Xbox 360 by Conner Flynn on January 27th, 2009

Sonic the Hedgehog on the XBox 360Case mods don’t always have to involve LEDS and intense design work. Sometimes it’s cool just to keep it simple and paint a pretty picture on it. Here, someone took Sonic the Hedgehog and painted him right onto this XBox 360.

This is the kind of limited edition that Microsoft needs to be putting out there. This kind of paint job just gives your console a life of it’s own. I can almost see this Xbox sliding down rails and collecting rings when the owner isn’t home. That explains why the console is so hot when no one is playing it.

Portable XBox 360/Zune phone
Here’s another look into a possible future where hair dye and colored wigs and gadgets go hand and hand. Yesterday we told you about the 2010 Wii. Well, here’s another item from T3. This one sports a dame with pink hair and big…dreams, if you’re interested in clicking through to see.

It’s an XBox 360 and a Zunephone in one compact package that leaves us drooling. But you know how it goes. Unfortunately, there is no real Zune phone. It’s going to have to remain in fantasy land, where brightly haired babes play with them.

Sony bringing 40GB Playstation 3 to the US

Posted in News,PS3,Sony by Darrin Olson on October 18th, 2007

40GB Playstation 3 from Sony coming to the U.S. on NovemberSony has announced today that the 40GB Playstation 3 that was recently announced for Europe and Japan will indeed be coming to the US this fall as well. The new 40GB PS3 will retail for $399 and start selling on November 2. It looks like it has the same configuration as the other releases as well including the lack of backwards compatibility for PS2 games, no memory card reader and two USB ports short. No word on a white version of the console for the US, but the 40GB PS3 will also come bundled with Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray disc.

Sony states in the press release that those wanting backwards compatibility should look to the 80GB model which is also receiving a price cut effective immediately. Sony has given the 80GB PS3 a $100 price drop from its original launch price of $599, pricing it a $499 today. We can never complain about price drops but even with the cut the PS3 is still the most expensive latest-generation console on the market compared to its rivals Wii and Xbox 360.

Rock Band Pricing and Release Unveiled

Posted in Games,PS2,PS3,Xbox 360 by Darrin Olson on September 29th, 2007

Rock Band game pricing and release date for PS3, PS2 and Xbox 360Information on the release of the new “Rock Band” game from MTV has made its way into the blogosphere today flaunting a lower-than-expected price. The game is to be released for both the Sony PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 on November 23, both priced at $169.99. As an early surprise, Rock Star will also be available for the PS2 the following month on December 10, going for $10 less at $159.99.

The games will come bundled with a single guitar, microphone and a drum kit. Also, that guitar that comes bundled for the PS2 and PS3 won’t be tethered with any wires letting you rock out more freely but unfortunately the Xbox 360 will require you to plug it in, at least for a while. A wireless guitar model for the 360 is expected to come up sometime next year.
