Posted in Logitech by Shane McGlaun on May 12th, 2009

logitechblackguitar-sbBack in January when I was at CES Logitech was showing off their red wireless guitar controller specifically for the Guitar Hero games. The controller was very cool, but was a very hard to find item available in only certain areas.

Logitech has now announced a new black version of the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller Premiere Edition that will be available globally. The guitar is licensed for Guitar Hero only and will only work with that game, Rack Band fans are out of luck.

Last photos of Marilyn Monroe on auction at eBay

Posted in eBay by Shane McGlaun on May 7th, 2009

mornoepic-sbI’m not the classic movie and old music kind of guy. As classic as I want to go are films from my childhood like Star Wars and Goonies. I never really understood the allure of old Hollywood types like Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra, but to some these types of old school stars are legends.

Everyone knows about the tragic and untimely death of Monroe. Some of the last known photos of the star are up for auction on eBay and were taken only five days before her death. The photos come from the collection of musician Buddy Greco.

iPhone case with a kickstandWe’ve covered our share of iPhone cases. Some are wood, some have a battery etc. But this thing here may just be the first iPhone case with a genuine kickstand.

Just like your bike, it will allow your iPhone to stand by itself. The iClooly clip stand can also be used to clip the phone comfortably on your clothing and will also serve as a handle for those who need a handle on their iPhone.

Posted in EA by Shane McGlaun on May 5th, 2009

tigerwoods10-sbWhen I first got my Wii I spent lots of time playing Wii Sports golf. I got good at the game and decided that I wanted a better challenge and picked up one of the Tiger Woods games, which was much more complicated, but lots of fun.

EA has announced that it is moving the launch date for the next Tiger Woods gamed called Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. The launch date has been moved up by one week to June 8 for the golf game and the Grand Slam Tennis for Wii will be launched at the same time.

BlackBerry Curve 8900 officially hitting AT&T in "early summer"Looks like the rumors were true. RIM’s BlackBerry Curve 8900 will be making its way from T-Mobile over to AT&T. There is now official confirmation from the carrier itself. Some of the features of this BB device are WiFi, GPS and a 480 x 360 resolution display.

This one also includes free AT&T WiFi at over 20,000 hotspots (with an unlimited data plan) and a 3.2 megapixel camera. There’s also a microSD / SDHC slot for cards up to 16GB in size, and while AT&T’s not talking pricing yet, you can expect it sometime in “early summer.”

Owl Earbud holder

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on May 3rd, 2009

Owl Earbud holderThis owl earbud holder gives a hoot and he won’t pollute your desktop. In fact, he will help keep your desk tidy by holding your earbuds all neat like. It’s a DIY project that’s simple to do. Just take a piece of wood, cut several holes in it, and make it look like an owl. Then wrap your portable MP3 earbuds around it. It’s cute.

Much cuter than my solution which is wires all over my desk in a huge mass that is more puzzle than usable gadget cords. To each their own.

Handmade wood iPhone 3G cases

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on April 26th, 2009

Handmade wood iPhone 3G casesLove Apple or hate them, I think we can all admit that the iPhone is one of the classiest looking phones. So why not class it up a bit more and add some sophistication in the form of a handmade wooden case? Etsy seller Substrat has created some really lovely cases. They’re all shaped and sanded to perfection and compliment your iPhone’s design. They will hold it snugly and keep it safe.

Sadly, you won’t be able to use any of the buttons. But that’s the price you pay for awesome looks. The price is about $84.99. These are probably the best wood iPhone cases we’ve seen yet.

iPhone gets mini golf action

Posted in Games by Shane McGlaun on April 20th, 2009

iphoneminigolf-sbI’m not a huge fan of mini golf myself, but my kids love it. In fact we went to play mini gold yesterday and I got beat by a 7-year-old again. My son is some sort of mini golf Tiger Woods, always hitting a hole in one despite the fact that he usually doesn’t look at what he is doing as he hits the ball.

I can still beat him (usually) at video games so to help my bruised ego I might challenge him to a round of mini golf on the iPhone with the new Mini Golf 99 holes Theme Park application. As the name suggest the game has 99 different holes with four different courses to choose from.

Kenwood SP0001 transparent speakers

Posted in Speakers by Conner Flynn on April 18th, 2009

Kenwood SP0001 transparent speakersLooking for a pair of speakers to impress your friends with? These Kenwood SP0001 transparent speakers should do the trick. Maybe. I’m not sure. They’re cool, but something about them is very washer/dryer like. If you like transparent washers/dryers then this is gold.

They must look better than they sound however, with a disappointing 10Wx2ch, with 8Ω power, yet costing €765. It comes with a matching pair of stands with white and blue LEDs.

Smokin Tex adds smoke flavor to anything

Smokin Tex adds smoke flavor to anythingSometimes, when you’re grilling a piece of meat, you want to add some smoke flavor. Perfectly understandable. Though you may not realize it, other foods taste good with a healthy does of smoke too, if this magic refrigerator box thing is any indication. Add some smoke flavor to anything. Mac and cheese, steak, chicken, peanut butter and jelly, eggs…

The Smokin’ Tex Hot-or-Cold Smoker lets you add that smoky taste to any and every food you want. Just add some wood chips in the smoker box, select the temperature and close the door. It’s completely insulated so you won’t smoke up the house and capable of smoking up to 38 pounds of meat, or whatever.

Kenwood Squeezophone 360° speaker delivers sound everywhere

Posted in Speakers by Conner Flynn on April 8th, 2009

Kenwood Squeezophone 360°I know what you’re thinking. You’ve never seen such a fine specimen of speaker technology merged with Wiffle ball design. I couldn’t agree more. Kenwood’s Squeezophone 360° speaker is similar to the insanely expensive Sony Soutina speakers, pumping music in all directions with acoustic technology.

We don’t know much else because it’s still in the development stages. We feel pretty confident it won’t be cheap. Making things look like Wiffle balls is an expensive business. I applaud their creative genius and their willingness to venture into such uncharted territory.

iPhorest: Plant a tree from your iPhoneThis is a pretty neat application. It allows iPhone users to plant a virtual tree from their phone while simultaneously activating the planting of a real tree. Originally showcased at TED, the app is now available to the masses on iTunes.

The real trees are planted by the Conservation Fund, and they will begin with the restoration of a vulnerable wildlife habitat along the Gulf Coast. It’s sponsored by Ecolife Apparel, makers of cotton “green” underwear, and was developed by iPhactory.

ipodshuffle-sbThe number of scams and outright theft that happens online everyday is staggering. From bogus products sold on eBay to hackers stealing credit card data from unsuspecting websites the Internet is a major source of crime.

One Michigan man named Nicholas Arthur Woodhams has found that crime may pay, but only for a while. MacWorld reports that Woodhams ran a scam against Apple from March 2006 to October 2007 where he would send in replacement requests for iPod shuffle devices.

Resident Evil / Red Cross blood drive

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on March 5th, 2009

Resident Evil / Red Cross blood driveDon’t get too excited, this isn’t an add-on. Capcom is partnering up with the Red Cross for a good cause and hosting a blood drive on March 13th, the day when Resident Evil 5 launches.

Those who buy a copy of the game at the World of Wonder gallery on Hollywood Boulevard can also donate blood from 11am to 5pm. So I’m assuming that means they’ll at least give you a cookie too, so you won’t be all disoriented. It’s a win/win situation. Kill some zombies and save some lives. Donors can even win prizes.
