I am an unorganized person by nature and don’t care for keyboard trays and other things that some folks use to keep their desk organized and tidy. I prefer to just set my stuff directly on the desk and work with what I have. There are a lot of folks out there though that want a keyboard tray and can’t stand the clutter.

If you are one of these organized sorts and happen to use a Mac, Combine Collective has a cool new keyboard tray made from black walnut wood that may be the best-looking tray ever. The thing is hand-made in Canada with water-based glue and a food safe stain finish.

We use a ton of oil to create plastics for everything from watches to bicycle helmets. It hasn’t been easy to find a replacement material that can be just as tough, versatile and easy to produce, but German inventors have developed a new material that has a lot of promise. It could replace everything plastic using something as natural as wood.

It looks like wood and feels like wood. The material is called Arboform and is produced after combining lignin, a discarded element of regular wood with natural resins, flax and fiber. Arboform is ideal since it can be molded into any object form which is normally made using petroleum products.

You can find all kinds of stupid pet tricks and stupid human tricks on YouTube, but no pay-per-view content like Apple, Amazon, and others. Well, the Financial Times is reporting that parent company Google has been in talks with “Hollywood’s leading movie studios” for several months regarding the launch of an international pay-per-view service by the end of this year.

Looks like it would cost about $5 for new titles (streaming, not download) that would be available the same time as the DVD releases. The site has been doing rentals on a trial basis since early this year, with a handful of indie titles.

I once volunteered to build some of those desks that you have to construct out of all the little pieces of MDF and tons of screws and cam locks. I have also built my share of entertainment centers from the same stuff before. They are all a massive pain and take forever to finish.

Sceptre is a company we have talked about before and is best known for its cheap and cool LCD TVs and computer screens. Sceptre has announced that it will be getting into the entertainment center furniture business with a line of assembly required offerings needing no tools to build.

You will never ever own this one. And neither will I. That’s because this phone is for the filthy rich. It comes from luxury handset maker Gresso, and is called Luxor Las Vegas Jackpot. The price? Oh, just $1 million. I’m sure you have that just lying around.

The phone case is made of 180 grams of pure gold, encrusted with 45.5K black diamonds and an African Blackwood back panel. The keypad keys are made from a single manually polished and laser engraved crystal sapphire. Gresso is only making 3 of them.

Netflix has just added even more to it’s Watch Instantly lineup as it has reached an agreement with Epix to include films from Paramount, Lionsgate and MGM Studios starting September 1. The films will be available on Netflix only 90 days after their pay TV debuts.

What this deal does is make Hollywood movies available to Netflix subscribers far more quickly, and in greater numbers. According to the LA Times, this deal could cost Netflix some $1 billion over its multi-year lifetime. This is another great reason to join Netflix.

I really like cars and have been a big fan of Top Gear for years. The only thing that bothers me about the UK version of Top Gear is that they often hate on American cars and are known to get the facts of some cars completely wrong.

Long ago, there was rumored to be a version of Top Gear in the works for the US market with Adam Corolla. That program was cancelled before it even aired.

I know that my wife would never let a coffee table as geeky as the one this DIY guy created from old computer parts into our house. This thing would look really good in my office though. The builder took old mainboards and other computer parts and built one of the coolest tables I have seen.

The table is actually made from two tables with a smaller table that the mainboards and components are attached to inside the larger table. The larger table is made from wood and glass with LED lights to let you see all the geekery inside the glass table.

We have seen a phone from Bellperre before back in November of 2009 that was made from wood. The company is back with a new phone that can be customized with different types of leather, gold, and other materials.

The phone offers 125 different leather colors and the buttons can be made from brushed steel, silver, or rose/yellow gold. The leather options include odd things like pink crocodile and red shark.

These EXOvault cases for the iPhone look down right awesome. Each is handmade from metal, and some models are engraved with intricate designs. They add a touch of old world metal chic to your iPhone. Each of EXOvault’s cases are crafted from lightweight metals, like brass or anodized aluminum, and feature an inlaid rosewood accent on back.

There’s also a minimal black aluminum case that looks pretty decent. They are priced at $110 to $165. All of the cases are designed for the iPhone 3GS, but hopefully they will out some iPhone 4 designs soon.

From the front it looks like a plain old iPhone 4, but around back this iPhone is sporting some wood. This beautiful specimen comes from Russian technology company Gresso. There are embedded Swarovski crystals and an 18-karat golden Apple logo set in a sheet of African Blackwood.

While we loath Swarovski crystals on gadgets, this design is much more tasteful than the solid gold iPhones we are used to seeing. This luxury phone will arrive in December for $3,500, or $3,000 for the male version on the right.

Sony is hoping that some Toy Story 3 branding will help sales on their S-Series Walkmans. So Sony has designed special edition Walkman S-Series devices imprinted with your favorite characters.

The original Sony Walkman Toy Story clear case for your gadget will set you back about $18 (or 1680 Yen). Compatible models include: the NW-S740, S740K, S640, S640K in 8GB to 32GB models. Designs include Woody and Buzz together, the Aliens and Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear.

We love us some good old fashioned Atari mods around here and this is maybe the neatest we’ve seen in some time. This portable Atari is small enough to pass itself off as a Gameboy.

The core system is an Atari Flashback 2, an embedded system with a few built-in games. But without the cartridge slot it wouldn’t be the mod it is, allowing the owner to play any game he wants. Not sure about the color though. An Atari mod should be wood grain.

At E3 today, Nintendo has made the 3DS official. The device looks sharp. At least the one they had on stage does. Looks a bit thicker, but we can’t be sure. There’s a 3D Depth Slider on the side to maximize or eliminate the 3D depth effect. The bottom screen is the only touchscreen, just like the original DS, but in this case with a 3.5-inch widescreen on top. There’s a slide pad for analog control and also an accelerometer and a gyroscope.

It sports a camera on the inside and two lenses on the outside for taking 3D photos with the device. But that isn’t it. The Nintendo 3DS is also capable of showing 3D Hollywood movies. The graphics look pretty sweet for a handheld, almost Wii-like.
