Looking for a radio that both Ewoks and hippies can endorse? Here it is. The Log Radio. A wooden wonder device that looks like the escape pod that R2-D2 and C-3PO took to Tatooine. It’s from designers Solène Le Goff and Christophe Gouache.

The radio is powered by solar or wind-up. It should work for a good long time until Squirrels start living inside or your senile dad chops it in half for the fireplace.

This is just plain weird. As much as I get tired of hearing whatever the person standing in line at the checkout counter next to me has as their ringtone, a chirping bird would be worse than some crappy country song. Sprint has announced that it has teamed up with the Audubon to release bird call ringtones.

There will be 28 different bird ringtones offered including the Field Sparrow, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and the Black-capped Chickadee. The ringtones can be downloaded by texting BIRD to 1111 or downloaded from the Sprint Digital Lounge.

The Clothes Pin USB drive is a handy drive to have. You can hang clothes on your clothesline with it and store your data. But you can’t do both. It won’t hold your clothes while in the USB port and it won’t save your data while drying your shirt in the wind.

But USB drives that clip to things are pretty convenient. It can hold your data while holding say, money, important papers…Could be used as a unique tie clip. Just don’t drop this into a pile of your mom’s Clothes pins.

Check this out. T-mobile has re-imagined the myTouch 3G. They’ve added something that was sorely needed: a 3.5mm headphone jack for a new version of the phone later this year. The other news is that the new myTouch is being released as a special edition thanks to a partnership with Fender.

NTT DOCOMO is going green with the announcement of a cellphone prototype manufactured using surplus wood from trees that are culled during thinning operations to maintain healthy forests. The Touch Wood has a name that is ripe for jokes and happens to be shaped like a bean.

The prototype was developed in a partnership between Sharp, Olympus and “more trees,” a reforestation project that was founded by musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. The body is cypress wood and is said to be very durable and resistant to water, insects and mildew, thanks to 3D compression molding. Each handset is unique, with it’s own grain patterns and natural color.

Apparently no one told Logitech that we are in a recession. The Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller and Wireless Drum Controller for Nintendo’s Wii are licensed for use with Guitar Hero and way overpriced. The axe sports a maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and metal frets. They even threw in a “noise dampening strum bar and fret buttons,” and a touch-sensitive slider on the fretboard.

The drums provide 3 drum pads and a pair of cymbals, along with the stainless steel kick pedal. A Wiimote slides into each, ruining the illusion.

This Alien USB Drive made by Etsy seller MikaEle is hand carved from wood. We love the detail, especially the realistic looking fangs. The USB connection slides in and out with the push of a button so you can display him when not in use.

It comes with 4GB of storage space. If you want it you better be quick, it’s one of a kind, which is why it’s priced at $155 over at MikaEle’s Shop on Etsy. Sure, that’s a lot of dough, but we’re talking an Alien head here.
