Bellperre’s Finest Woods luxury phoneBellperre is one of those companies that only offers handsets made from the finest luxury materials. With this phone they are keeping it as natural as possible, by including wood on the external chassis. Don’t worry, you still have the option to deck it out in tacky looking jewels.

Log Radio is what it sounds like

Log Radio is what it sounds likeLooking for a radio that both Ewoks and hippies can endorse? Here it is. The Log Radio. A wooden wonder device that looks like the escape pod that R2-D2 and C-3PO took to Tatooine. It’s from designers Solène Le Goff and Christophe Gouache.

The radio is powered by solar or wind-up. It should work for a good long time until Squirrels start living inside or your senile dad chops it in half for the fireplace.

Sprint offers bird call ringtones

Posted in Sprint by Shane McGlaun on October 16th, 2009

sprint-logoThis is just plain weird. As much as I get tired of hearing whatever the person standing in line at the checkout counter next to me has as their ringtone, a chirping bird would be worse than some crappy country song. Sprint has announced that it has teamed up with the Audubon to release bird call ringtones.

There will be 28 different bird ringtones offered including the Field Sparrow, Red-bellied Woodpecker, and the Black-capped Chickadee. The ringtones can be downloaded by texting BIRD to 1111 or downloaded from the Sprint Digital Lounge.

Clothes Pin USB drive

Clothes Pin USB driveThe Clothes Pin USB drive is a handy drive to have. You can hang clothes on your clothesline with it and store your data. But you can’t do both. It won’t hold your clothes while in the USB port and it won’t save your data while drying your shirt in the wind.

But USB drives that clip to things are pretty convenient. It can hold your data while holding say, money, important papers…Could be used as a unique tie clip. Just don’t drop this into a pile of your mom’s Clothes pins.

Birdcage Backpack lets your bird come alongWe’ve seen a birdcage backpack before, but we didn’t know where to order one. Thankfully there’s one that’s actually available so that you can bring your bird with you everywhere. Just remember, during long hikes it will get heavier by the hour as the bird poop piles up.

The Pak o Bird backpack comes in one of three sizes depending upon the size of your bird. The $129 backpack has an included privacy curtain, dragonwood perch, and adjustable food cup. The mesh exterior is see-through yet chew-proof so your bird won’t escape.

Touch Wood prototype phoneNTT DOCOMO is going green with the announcement of a cellphone prototype manufactured using surplus wood from trees that are culled during thinning operations to maintain healthy forests. The Touch Wood has a name that is ripe for jokes and happens to be shaped like a bean.

The prototype was developed in a partnership between Sharp, Olympus and “more trees,” a reforestation project that was founded by musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. The body is cypress wood and is said to be very durable and resistant to water, insects and mildew, thanks to 3D compression molding. Each handset is unique, with it’s own grain patterns and natural color.

Logitech wireless guitar and drums for Wii are rocking high prices

Posted in Controllers by Conner Flynn on September 9th, 2009

Logitech wireless guitar and drums for Wii are rocking high pricesApparently no one told Logitech that we are in a recession. The Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller and Wireless Drum Controller for Nintendo’s Wii are licensed for use with Guitar Hero and way overpriced. The axe sports a maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and metal frets. They even threw in a “noise dampening strum bar and fret buttons,” and a touch-sensitive slider on the fretboard.

The drums provide 3 drum pads and a pair of cymbals, along with the stainless steel kick pedal. A Wiimote slides into each, ruining the illusion.

Alien USB drive

Alien USB driveThis Alien USB Drive made by Etsy seller MikaEle is hand carved from wood. We love the detail, especially the realistic looking fangs. The USB connection slides in and out with the push of a button so you can display him when not in use.

It comes with 4GB of storage space. If you want it you better be quick, it’s one of a kind, which is why it’s priced at $155 over at MikaEle’s Shop on Etsy. Sure, that’s a lot of dough, but we’re talking an Alien head here.

Headphile makes your headphones works of art

Headphile makes your headphones works of artOver the ear headphones have always been the victim of some pretty boring design for the most part. Now there’s a company doing something about it. Headphile will take your high end headphones and turn them into works of art. They do custom headphone mods using fine and exotic woods.

Don’t worry, you won’t lose any functionality. They also create custom headphone stands to match the designs on the headphones if you like. They will also improve on the original headphones by upgrading the wiring, adding better cables, or new speaker grills or wooden enclosures.
