Wii Classic Controller Pro goes gold for GoldenEye 007

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on August 11th, 2010

Even when we play the new consoles, we all love old school controllers right? And when it comes to playing GoldenEye 007 this is the way it was meant to be played. If you don’t want to use a wiimote, check out this gold Classic Controller Pro. The limited edition controller is your standard Wii Classic, just the same color as 007′s Golden Gun.

It will ship later this year inside of a “Classic Edition” game/accessory bundle for $69.99. We aren’t sure if it will be available as a standalone peripheral, but since you are buying the game anyway, who cares? You only live twice.

Projector gets strapped to a Wii-gun

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on May 13th, 2010

Man, try not to get sick watching the video below. This projector strapped to a Wii-gun is pretty damn cool. It comes from Nirav Patel, who decided to take first-person shooting to the next level. He has combined a Wiimote Zapper, a handheld ShowWX laser projector and a gyrometer to display a screen wherever the Zapper is pointing.

Patel calls it a “glasses-free virtual reality first-person shooter,”. With it, he can look around and navigate the game-world just by moving the Zapper and using its joystick. Right now the game is running off of Patel’s laptop, with his controller tethered to it. Oh and he’s wearing the laptop on his back. I would love to see where else he can take this.

MoProUSA unveils Wiimote pistols

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on February 25th, 2010

As a Wii owner you certainly have your choice of guns to choose from. But these are pretty good looking. Everything is still in prototype form, but it’s impressive. MoProUSA is looking to create a new range of gaming pistols, including one that requires no Wiimote and Nunchuk to operate.

The Duel Pro is modeled from a replica pistol, and has the guts of a Wii controller and Nunchuk inside. There’s also an analog nub on each side that lets you switch from one hand to the other. A color-changing LED is positioned on the rear for instant feedback.

Wii And PS3 Sniper Gun Controllers

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on January 11th, 2010

If the standard guns are not hardcore enough for your Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 gaming experience, try one of these sniper guns from CTA Digital. Recently shown off at CES, these weapons will give you a more realistic feel while in your game.

The PS3 model looks like an AK-47, while the Wii model just looks like what it is, crap plastic. The Wii version uses a Wiimote and Wii Motion Plus attachment, while the PS3 version uses its own built-in joystick, D-pad, and works on it’s own.

Wii custom-made Heckler and Koch MP5 controller Say hello to my little friend. Pow, pow, pow, pow. We all know that there are ten million Wii controller accessories, but this one means business. This is a 1:1 scale Heckler & Koch MP5 sub-machine gun for the Wii.

Instead of using Nintendo’s own controllers for the gun, the that made it implemented full Wiimote, nunchuck and MotionPlus functionality into it. Plus it has a built-in rechargeable battery that charges via USB and a built-in speaker. It will also rumble when you get hit in supported games.

Mad Catz Wiimote: Close enough to the real thing, $10 lessNyko has their Wand, but now Mad Catz has become the second peripheral maker to try their hand at cloning the Wiimote. According to Mark over at Gizmodo, it’s promising.

He didn’t get any play time with it, but he got to hold it and play with buttons. Mad Catz’ “Remote For Nintendo Wii” feels the same in size and weight as a real Wiimote. Mad Catz guarantees that their Wiimote will fit in the sleeves of normal Wiimotes. It will likely fit into any gun, fishing rod, etc that a Wiimote will fit into.

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles Shot Blaster

Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles Shot BlasterFew things in life are better than shooting zombies with a plastic gun. Unfortunately, most of the gun accessories for the Wii are pretty boring. Gamers want something that stands out. A gun they can be proud of. One that they will give a female name too and tote with them in their backpack.

Well, this new Resident Evil Shot Blaster is just the ticket. It shows that you are serious about your zombie hunting and spend way too much time in your mother’s basement. You can purchase the gun for $29.95 online from Capcom. It includes Resident Evil-style Wiimote and Nunchuk skins.

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on January 11th, 2009

Sure Shot Wii Rifle is three weapons in oneWe’ve covered our share of Wii guns here at the brick. Machine guns, Pistols, even the Wiimote assassination kit, but I believe this is the first rifle that is actually three weapons in one.

The Sure Shot Wii Rifle was unveiled at CES 2009. It’s from CTA Digital and features a removable stock and barrel, three modes, and is compatible with nearly all shooting games on the Wii. That last bit is a big plus. You can hit the link below to check out a video.

CyWee’s 3D game controller

Posted in Games by Conner Flynn on January 8th, 2009

CyWee’s 3D game controllerCywee’s motion controller is basically a 3D USB mouse, with a dual-axis gyroscope. It’s the first game controller to have one, according to the company. It can be used either straight up like a Wiimote or folded into a rough gun/boomerang shape. It’s interesting, that’s for sure and is likely giving the big N some ideas on future Wiimotes.

The controller is dubbed the CYWEE Z. It will be shown off at CES, but it seems that no one is sure whether or not the company’s game console will be there as well. making the trip as well. This might be an interesting one to watch.

Custom Desert Eagle may be the strangest Wii gun mod yet

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on January 5th, 2009

Custom Desert Eagle may be the strangest Wii gun mod yeteBay seller fordelite_76 is just brimming with confidence that you will bid and bid high on this auction for a custom Wii gun they created. I can tell, because he uses a lot of asterisks and the word AWESOME sandwiched in between. That’s confidence. And why not? “IT WORKS GREAT AND LOOKS BETTER THAN ANY OTHER WII GUN OUT THERE ..I HAVENT SEEN …”

Who could argue with that? It looks so realistic with the large white Wiimote attached bayonet style. I bet the thinking was that if you can’t frag your enemy from a distance, just approach and stab your TV Civil War style. Another strange thing is that in the pics the gun appears to be hardwired to the Wimote’s B button via a bent hanger wire that pulls the trigger. Now that’s craftsmanship.

WeeP5 Gun is a Wii Zapper on steroids

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on December 27th, 2008

WeeP5 Gun is a Wii Zapper on steroidsHack-A-Day builder TheOreos took a very real looking toy version of the Heckler & Koch MP5 and outfitted it with a Wiimote. What he ended up with was this cleverly named and ultra realistic WeeP5 pictured above, lovingly displayed with some family photos.

He wanted to build a zapper with all the buttons exactly where he wanted them. Obviously he did a fantastic job, it looks awesome and apparently works pretty well. He’d better hide this thing really good when transporting it, so he doesn’t get the SWAT team surrounding him as he says “Say hello to my little friend” and gets filled with lead.

Wii woodgrain mod gives it an Atari look

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on August 24th, 2008

Wii woodgrain mod gives it an Atari lookWood classes up almost any gadget. Even simple USB drives. But when you give the Wii a woodgrain makeover, the result is simply awesome. It’s as if the the old Atari woodgrain consoles merged with the Wii. Much better then boring Wii white. For now it’s just a concept design by Joe D, which is a shame. Nintendo would sell a ton of product.

Joe’s concept apparently has a layer of woodgrain veneer on the Wii-Mote, Nunchuk, even the Classic Controller and Nyko Perfect Shot. That’s sweet enough, but he also gave the controllers get some bright white backlit buttons and black paint to bring out the wood. Once you see design like this it’s hard to come back to reality and pick up your white wiimote.

Nerf Wii Blaster: a Wii gun that fires darts

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on February 14th, 2008

Nerf Wii Blaster
Nerf and the the Zapper now have a love child, thanks to a new partnership between Electronic Arts and Hasbro. They’ve revealed Nerf N-Strike for the Nintendo Wii and DS systems, along with a Wiimote-based Nerf blaster. Nerf’s Wii blaster isn’t the usual Nintendo Zapper clone. That’s because it doubles as a functional Nerf dart gun. Just stick the Wiimote in the Nerf gun grip and it becomes a game controller, or load it with a Nerf blaster module to fire foam darts at your friends.

The Nerf N-Strike games and the blaster are scheduled to ship in Fall 2008. There should be more details from Hasbro at next week’s Toy Fair in New York. Here’s an idea, maybe they can shove a Wiimote in a Nerf football and have it communicate with the Wii.
