Just when you think that you’ve seen it all with the Wii, some Wii accessories can still surprise you. The $50 Darth Vader Nintendo Wii Sensor Bar Holder is just what it sounds like. It holds your sensor bar and makes it look like a lightsaber. Sorta.

So while you are swinging that Wiimote, you can imagine Vader encouraging you to use the force and join the darkside. You of course will shout NEVERRRRR and all of your friends will get scared and leave. It’s not your fault Vader only speaks to you and that no one else can hear him.

We know that you like to get all nerdy with your Wii on occasion and swing around a lightsaber while your little dog looks on in his Princess Leia slave costume. Well, if you’re going to nerd out, you may as well do it with officially licensed Wii accessories.

We’ve seen our share of Wii lightsabers, but they just aren’t endorsed by Lucas’ money machine. This one is. This lightsaber glows, and Bensussen Deutsch & Associates have plans for a matching blaster too. The accessories don’t make room for MotionPlus, but so what. They’ll be shipping with Star Wars - The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, a game that doesn’t support MotionPlus.

Thrustmaster is getting in on the fake lightsaber game too with these Glow Sabers, which may arguably be the best take on the Wii lightsaber yet with their attention to detail. They actually resemble Jedi instruments of death.

The red and blue dueling Glow Sabers each have 17 LEDs and the Dual Trigger Gun comes complete with a Nunchuck holster. The Glow Saber 2-pack can be had right about now for $34.99, while the Dual Trigger Gun will be available shortly for $17.99. Pretty sweet deal.

The company that worked with Nintendo on the MotionPlus controller add-on, has now released a video that demonstrates the capabilities of the new hardware using 3D tools called LiveMove2. Turns out that the 1:1 tracking is really 1:1. Also the response time is pretty instant.

Before you know it they’re playing with lightsabers and fighting off Seeker Drones, then tossing around a 3D dummy with the lightsaber. All in all a lot of fun. The end result is that this technology can map incredibly complex motions to even more specific commands then before. It’s pretty damn impressive.

With so many apps for the iPhone, looking for something cool can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. Well, here’s a real gem that will have Star Wars fans dancing around and accidentally throwing their iPhone against walls like it was a Wiimote.

It displays a lightsaber on screen and uses the iPhone’s accelerometer to generate the corresponding sound effect based on your movements. You can choose the lightsaber color and everything. What are you waiting for? Go have fun and break stuff.

Nintendo today issued a press release to introduce an unexpected accessory to the Wii Remote controller, called Wii Motionplus. The new attachment is designed to give even more accurate responses to a players hand and arm motions and we hope will lead to a lightsaber game in the very near future. According to Nintendo, the new controller add-on connects to the bottom end of the Wii Remote and will do a better job of “reflecting motions in a 3-D space”.

The attachment works in conjunction with the existing accelerometer in the remote and the Wii Sensor bar to track the players hand and arm motions and give what Nintendo is calling a true 1:1 response, which is sure to be a welcome feature for those interested in first person shooter games or anything requiring a little more precision beyond shaking or waving the remote wildly. The Wii remote currently with the game console does a great job of sensing more general motions, twisting and waving but sometimes can be a little shaky with the direct pointing. The Wii MotionPlus is sure to be an improvement and open up the Wii to less frustrating times at games requiring more precision.

You can buy any number of lightsabers. Whether in lamp form, Wii attachment, or even a lightsaber training game. But this Master Replicas Force FX Lightsaber Construction Set allows you to mix and match pieces, creating your own custom weapon.

One downside to this cool toy is that the blade is only illuminated by a single LED, which means you won’t get the “rising out of the hilt” effect when you turn it on. But it does have all the motion activated sound effects. All the pieces are metal, so your lightsaber will look very cool and authentic.

We’ve come across our share of Wii accessories, some cool, some odd, all entertaining. So we thought we’d make a list of some of the stranger Wiimote gadgets and celebrate this odd gaming phenomenon. So here’s a list of some of our favorite Wii items Wii either wish for or wish didn’t exist, in no particular order. The Wii sure has brought some strangeness to gaming.

Would be Jedis of the Wii variety now have another weapon at their disposal. Camy’s Pro Gear Wii Light Swords are similar to this lightsaber attachment we told you about in November, but with a strange off center saber.

They are colored plastic Wiimote holders available in three “ultra bright” colors. If you wish to instill not fear but laughter, you can flip a switch and light up the night sky with your dorky laser blade. The swords are slated for a May/June release, with no word on price just yet. You can always just settle for having a light saber lamp nearby too.

It’s about time we start seeing some Jedi action on the Wii. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is headed to the Wii next Spring, but in the meantime you can get your Star Wars fix with this new lightsaber attachment. You can get it now from Play.com.

A few features are a power up/down effect for saber glow. It can also be dimmed down. It sports 22 ultra-bright LEDs and an on/off switch. You’ll need 3 AA cells to keep it lit. These are scheduled to ship later this very month. $31 is all it takes to be a very happy Jedi.

LucasArts has announced that its sending The Force to Nintendo in early next year by providing Star Wars - The Force Unleashed for the Nintendo Wii. We all know just how much Nintendo is already dominating the game consoles market and this will certainly help them along.

The Force Unleashed will of course take advantage of the Wii’s motion sensitive remotes letting users wave the Wii Remote as a lightsaber as we all have dreamed of doing at one point or another. (I can’t wait to hear it make that signature swooshing sound effect.) The Nunchuk controller will also take part giving you another hand powered with The Force.
