Out of all of the powerful systems they could have used for this mod, they chose the underpowered Wii. I guess there’s no accounting for taste. Still, it is an awesome mod. It is built from steel and cooled by two liquid-filled containers that look like they should be bubbling and feeding life into a mutant organism.

It is the work of Bit-tech forum member Angel OD and it’s called the “UNLimited Edition” project. He started this baby back in December, 2009 and just recently finished it. So as you can see, it took a Wii bit of time.

Sure the Wii is cool with it’s motion control and Mii characters, but it isn’t exactly easy to carry with you. However, it is for this talented casemodder. Modder OMGPedoBear worked on this project for 3 months and the end result is a portable Wii laptop.

He created it from expanded PVC sheets, and put a 17″ LCD monitor in the lid. Games are loaded by placing the Wii DVD upside-down in the front-loading tray. There are also a couple of extra fans to deal with the heat.

Sometimes it takes a long time for a product to go from concept to actual item. That’s the case with the Riiflex Wii weights, which will work with Wii Fit, or any other game. They are finally available now for $30 a pair, should you want to be a musclebound nerd.

Get yours when a standard Wiimote becomes too easy for your girlly arms to lift. Soon you’ll be able to lift that console too and the girls will go wild for ya.

Nyko continues to push the envelope when it comes to Wii accessories. Their latest Charge Station IC takes things to the next level. It holds two Wiimotes using magnets and charges the controllers via induction.

And it doesn’t matter if they are wearing silicon sleeves or have the Wii Motion Plus add-ons. There’s also an extra USB port in back, just in case you want to charge something else. Nothing on price or availability just yet. It will likely fall into the $30-40 range.

We love video games around here. Whether we’re playing the Xbox 360, the PS3 or even an old Atari 2600. We thought we would take a look at the history of gaming consoles from 1972 to the present. You grew up with the vintage consoles, you play the new ones, so take a walk down memory lane and revisit all your favorites from the massive list below.

You knew it had to happen. They actually intend to make us do serious exercise with this Wii-Fit thing. A patent-pending peripheral called “riiflex” will turn your Wiimotes into dumbells thanks to some 2lb and 5lb cases. The design is pretty interesting. These even feature a trigger port for access to all the Wiimote’s buttons.

They are available for preorder deposit. While the price is still undecided, they estimate that these weights will cost you around $30 per unit. I’m sure they are already planning a way to include the nunchuk. One question. Do serious weight-lifting meatheads even use the Wii?

Last night we told you about the Wii winning the console wars this holiday season. The Xbox 360 did well too. But nobody wanted the poor PS3. There’s apparently at least one modder who the likes the PS3. The outside of it anyway.

This modder shoved an Xbox 360 into a PS3 case. It wasn’t a perfect fit, with a large hole cut into the front to allow access to the tray. It’s for those gamers who can’t make up their mind and love both consoles along with some neon.

It’s been awhile since we saw a really cool Wii case mod, though we did bring you 14 neat mods some time ago. This custom Star Wars case mod is pretty awesome and you can learn to make one too. Just be warned that the creator invested over 100 hours of work.

It includes lots of LEDs and fiber optics to give it some nice glowing effects. If you’d rather buy one and not put in the time, you can find this gem on ebay for $499.99. It features stars that fade in and out, custom Red Light Bar, and a hand Painted Death Star, X-Wing and Darth Vader’s Tie-Fighter. Pretty sweet.

Jeffrey Stephenson is no stranger to awesome casemods. He’s outdone himself this time however, with this one, dedicated to the Ingraham Cabinet Co., creator of radio cases in the WWII era. The Ingraham case mod is walnut-clad (though veneered) just like the originals he was inspired by, featuring a hand-built basswood frame layered on a mini-ITX SilverStone case.

Check out the polished chrome knob on the front from an Arlen Ness catalog, perched atop a final retro flourish: a Firewire 400 port. under the hood, things are less art deco and more modern: a VIA VB8001 motherboard, a 1.6GHz Nano processor, 4GB of DDR2 memory, and a 64GB SSD.

One thing that sucks about playing games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero is that the peripherals take up a lot of space in your home. The AirG for the upcoming Wii game PopStar Guitar fits in your hand. (And looks like some preschool toy) Just slip the Wiimote into the AirG case and begin rockng out wirelessly with four fret buttons.

The game will cost about $60 and include two AirGs. The PS2 version of the game uses existing toy guitars to play. It’s available this November and those that live with you will thank you for not bringing another plastic guitar in the house, so they don’t have to go all Pete Townsend and smash it.

While we’re waiting with bated breath for a possible new updated Nintendo DS model that has been rumored, we thought we would take a look at some of our favorite DS mods. Like the Wii, modders love to spice up Nintendo’s boring design and put their own personal touches on the device. Some are weird, some are awesome, some will make you wonder what’s in the modder’s local water supply, but all are creative.

It’s obvious that we can’t let just anyone be an intern with us here at the ‘Brick (along with the other Pragmatic Labs sites) so earlier this year we took time out to pour through all of the applications of intern hopefuls. Unfortunately there was only one application in the stack, but on the upside it did make for an easy decision.

Since then we’ve had the enjoyment of Horatio around the Pragma-plex, constantly giving suggestions, asking questions and soaking up the technology blogging industry like a sponge. I do think he’s enjoying himself but sometimes it’s kinda’ hard to tell. We’ve published a few videos showing what Horatio’s been up to and some insight into his interests. In Australia at least, nobody seems to want the white iPhone? It looks like all of the late arrivals in Sydney were being told earlier that they might have to take a white 16GB version because they were running out of the black model.

Now, if the same thing happens here I imagine some of you are going to be not too happy about it and you’d rather have no iPhone at all. I wouldn’t want white. White is for Wiis. I’m not sure what the ratio of white to black iPhones being shipped to stores is, but judging by this video we showed you here, it looks to be about 50/50. If that’s the case, we have a problem.

Wall-E is adorable. Your Gamecube console is gathering dust. That’s right. Combine the two for one of the cutest and most adorable mods mankind has ever seen. There’s not much info on this mod, but the modder did a great job.

Wall-E looks appropriately sad. Probably because everyone has moved on to the Wii. Which brings me to my next point. Wall-E needs an Eve and I think it would only be fair to make her from a Wii. Very nicely done. It could only be better if he crawled around.
