Seagate passes WiFi-enabled GoFlex Satellite hard drive through the FCC |
The latest gadget to pass through the FCC is the GoFlex Satellite hard drive from Seagate. Right now, if you want to add a network attached storage device to your network it is a time consuming process of connecting cables, finding a location for your drive near a router, and configuring your network. Seagate will make this process a whole lot easier with this device.
The device packs in 802.11 b/g/n WiFi capabilities, allowing you to add the Satellite to your network without stringing wires from your router to the drive. This also means you can put the Satellite anywhere you have network access. Nothing on pricing or release yet.

We’ve seen Twitter displays, but David Nichols’ Tweetster seems like a step above the rest with it’s laser-cut wooden parts and open design. The OpenWRT project and an ASUS Wireless Router WL-520-GU provide the functionality. The WiFi router uses OpenWRT to run Python from a USB flash drive in back. The setup automatically retrieves the latest 20 messages from his followers, displaying them on the serial LCD.

3G routers aren’t new, even though many of us don’t have one. Those who do own one don’t have any this good looking. Ericsson must have finally seen the light and realized that these devices don’t have to look ugly. The Ericsson W30 Data Router and Ericsson W35 Data and Voice Router just slipped past the FCC, and they do indeed look sexy.
The Wi-Fire is a USB device that will boost Wi-Fi signals by using a directional antenna and a powerful receiver that works with it’s proprietary software. With this device your computer can detect and access wireless sources within a 1,000 foot radius. And the folks at Maximum PC put it to the test.
