Armor sleeve packs a stun-gun and laser

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on June 1st, 2011

Police will soon have more weapons on them, specifically on their sleeve thanks to designer David Brown. He has developed a new sleeve for police that fits on the user’s hand. It can be deployed instantly and packs a high-voltage tazer type stunner, a video camera, a laser pointer and a flashlight.

The device weighs less than three pounds and is meant to be worn as a glove. There are buttons on the palm to use the stunner, camera, laser and the flashlight. It’s just a concept right now, but hopefully soon it can help police.

Automatic weapon gets FPS-style ammo counter

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on February 1st, 2011

You’ve seen all of the ammo counters on the various shooters that you’ve played and now a similar ammo counter is available for automatic weapons, thanks to a DIY project by Michael Ciuffo. So now when out on the firing range, you can be aware of your ammo situation just like in the games.

An accelerometer detects the gun’s recoil and keeps count, so it can be calibrated for different weapons. Michael has received enough enquiries about this that he is going to start producing it for the mass market soon.

LG announces the C320 Lady, for the ladies

Posted in LG by Conner Flynn on November 5th, 2010

The LG C320 is aimed at the fairer sex, with a feminine design and colors to match. It sports a QWERTY keyboard that slides out, a 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.1, an integrated MP3 player, FM radio, and a microSD expansion slot.

Then there’s the pre-installed social stuff, like Facebook and Twitter. It’s just a basic phone designed to look cute. The price and availability of the LG C320 Lady is unknown. Why do they call them the fairer sex anyway? It’s hardly fair that she expects me to turn my PS3 off and spend time with her, instead of earning new weapons in Call Of Duty.

Homemade Fallout 3 plasma rifle

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on August 24th, 2010

The A3-21 Plasma Rifle kicks ass in Fallout 3 and it looks pretty awesome in the real world too. Ryan Palser created this bad boy, which took five months to complete. His wife painted it up real nice to give it the weathered look. If they ever make a Fallout movie, they better turn to Ryan and wife for props.

We’d love to see more of Fallout’s weapons in real life, maybe even some Brotherhood of Steel armor. To paraphrase the song from the game, Ryan doesn’t want to set the world on fire, he just wants to start a flame in our hearts with this beast.

Federation issue Dustbuster / Star Trek: TNG phaser

Posted in Sci-Fi by Conner Flynn on June 22nd, 2010

There’s a reason you don’t see dust in the corridors of the starship Enterprise. Turns out those phasers actually double as Dustbusters. Okay, not really. But this Dustbuster is crafted as a replica of the hand phaser from Star Trek: the Next Generation.

Interestingly, these prop weapons were nicknamed Dustbusters on set because of their familiar shape. This replica is much more than a hand vacuum, though. It has realistic LED lighting and sound effects and it’s intricately crafted by the original prop masters to look exactly like the ones used in the TV series.

Fart-absorbing blanket may save your marriage

Posted in Humor by Conner Flynn on May 2nd, 2010

The “Better Marriage Blanket” doesn’t save your marriage through communication or seeing a therapist. It does something much more important. It absorbs farts. And that will definitely save any marriage.

It uses “the same type of fabric used by the military to protect against chemical weapons,” so there’s nothing you can fart that will get through this thing. It will soak up any and all stenches being produced underneath. But seriously if your farts are so bad that you need this blanket, you should sleep outdoors and see a doctor immediately.

Smart handgun won’t fire unless you’re wearing this ugly watch

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on January 29th, 2010

If you see somebody wearing this ugly watch, run. They have a weapon. The idea here is to make guns safer. Or at least harder to fire. The new Armatix .22 comes with a custom watch. When the gun is within a few inches of the watch, a green LED on the back lights up, letting you know that it’s armed and ready to fire.

If you try to use it without wearing the watch, the LED turns red and it can not fire. It would be great for police weapons, so that they don’t get in civilian hands. The military as well. Your enemy will no longer be able to use your weapon against you should they somehow get it.

Razer Sixense Motion Gaming Controller for PCs

Posted in Controllers by Conner Flynn on January 13th, 2010

Razer has a new motion gaming controller for PCs, which obviously works similar to the Wiimote. The device is called the Razer Sixense Motion Gaming Controller.

It’s designed to let gamers control a wide range of functions on the PC, like moving around and controlling weapons, but most importantly the company claims that it will be extremely accurate down to the nearest millimeter. Two controllers are used to perform various functions in the game. Much like the Wiimote/nunchuk combo.

Wii And PS3 Sniper Gun Controllers

Posted in Wii Accessories by Conner Flynn on January 11th, 2010

If the standard guns are not hardcore enough for your Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 gaming experience, try one of these sniper guns from CTA Digital. Recently shown off at CES, these weapons will give you a more realistic feel while in your game.

The PS3 model looks like an AK-47, while the Wii model just looks like what it is, crap plastic. The Wii version uses a Wiimote and Wii Motion Plus attachment, while the PS3 version uses its own built-in joystick, D-pad, and works on it’s own.

Posted in Weapons by Conner Flynn on December 23rd, 2009

Weapons manufacturer FN Herstal has just released a “Black Box” for weapons. The device can detect and track all kinds of information about the weapon that it’s attached to. Stuff like how many shots are fired, burst rate and burst length, firing sequences and even ID and location data. Everything you need to know about your weapon.

The device has a battery with a service life of 10-years and it will record up to 100,000 rounds. The device should keep weapons functioning in top shape, which will theoretically save the military money and casualties.
