When you think about it having the toilet and the sink in separate components doesn’t make much sense. Combining the two would save space and hopefully encourage those non-hand washers to wash up after doing their business because it’s right there. You know who you are. It saves water too.

The Dual Flush toilet puts this into practice by letting you brush your teeth while you pee and wash your hands and whatever else you want to do before you THEN flush, using the same water for all of it. Is it weird? Hell yeah, but you are saving a ton of water.

Let’s not beat around the bush here. Well, I can’t help you with the nastiness they spread toward the food, but the PureCart system will at least keep the grocery carts clean. Think of it as a carwash for shopping carts. Each cart probably has a million or more germs on it. The system cleans using a quick-drying sanitizing wash and disinfects the carts between uses. The cost per wash is cheap at only 1-2 cents after the initial purchase price of the system. But a healthy customer will be back to spend money. It’s a minor victory against nasty people and there germs, while the war itself continues. I am a big time DVR fan; I don’t know what I did before I had DVRs on each TV in the house. Before the DVR, I actually had to watch commercials. If my wife wanted to watch something that really sucked, like one of those wedding shows, I missed something good (like anything not a wedding show).

Thankfully, the DVR saved me from having to program my VCR and enduring crap TV and commercials. According to a survey from NDS, 7 out of 10 people who own a DVR, say they can’t live without it. The survey also shows that 89% of Americans say that a DVR makes for a happier home life. I agree with that, the other guys out there don’t like wedding shows either I am betting.

Making its appearance at IFA 2008 in Berlin, the Made for iPod refrigerator is the first of it’s kind. Gorenje might have a winner on it’s hands with this here fancy fridge. Sure, we’ve seen refrigerators with a bunch of multimedia features that allow you to listen to music, watch TV, even surf net, but this is Apple certified. It features a built-in iPod docking station and speakers, so as you might expect, you can play music and video and connect to the internet via a Wi-Fi network.

Apparently by integrating the iPod with iGorenj app, you can control all kinds of Gorenje appliances like washing machines and the oven for instance. The app is not built for iPhone/iPod touch, it’s served from a home server that controls your appliances directly. That way you can use the iPod touch, but also any other web device in your home that uses a Wi-Fi network. Looks like we may have an iKitchen sooner then some of us thought.

This kind of high tech toiletry has been popular for some time in Japan. Now Kohler is bringing it to the U.S. The Kohler C3 seems like a futuristic butt washing odyssey. I mean, a toilet seat that has it’s own remote? That’s right. Kohler’s bidet technology is built into a toilet seat that attaches to your existing toilet. What you get is a temperature controlled, aromatic cleansing that almost eliminates the need for toilet paper. Almost.

It’s very customizable and comes with two programmable presets that can accommodate two separate users of different sizes. Everything is controlled with a wireless remote that sports it’s own magnetic holder that keeps it on the wall. It should be noted that though it’s a receptacle for waste, it wont waste energy as the in-line heater warms the water on an as-needed basis. Whether you have a washing machine in your home or go to the corner laundromat, doing wash is a royal pain. Especially for bloggers. I’ve had whole hours pass in the blink of an eye, sometimes whole days get eaten up in some black hole and so household chores pile up. The iBasket could really make life easier. The brainchild of Guopeng Liang, the iBasket was one of the Electrolux Design Lab ’08 finalists.

It is specifically designed to store and clean your soiled, smelly wearables easily. It’s programmed to go into a wash cycle once it reaches a ceratain weight. It even sports a built-in air refresh system removes odor, too. Once finished, the basket flashes some LEDs. We can only hope that it goes into production soon. This place is pretty messy.

Washing machines are big and bulky. They always have been. Therefore they could use a radical new design. The Sfera spherical washing machine is shaped like…Well a sphere. It’s small enough to take up residence in your bathroom somewhere and though it will save space, you won’t be able to do any big loads of laundry.

With that in mind, it would probably be good for the single midget bachelor, but not many others. The entire ball spins to get your clothes clean, you’ll just have to do laundry all day. And that’s the problem with small washing machines. About the only way to solve it is to put a washing machine above your toilet or in your bathroom wall.

If you’re a fake guitar aficionado and have rocked out in all possible ways playing Guitar Hero and yet still can’t get enough, check out this cake. The B-membrane computer concept does away with monitors entirely, instead opting for a built-in projector that will beam the display onto any surface. The membrane keyboard shows up whenever it’s needed as well as a built-in optical drive. It will probably be some time before we see something like this become a reality. It’s just not that easy to make a PC of the future look like the inside of a washing machine.

According to the Space Adventures tourism company out of Virginia, Sergy Brin, cofounder of Google, has put a $5 million deposit down for a vacation in space aboard a Russian spacecraft. The total trip will cost $35 million dollars and the launch date is scheduled for sometime in 2011.

Brin joins a small number of elite individuals who have both the desire to travel into space and more importantly the deep pockets to make it happen. Richard Garriott’s trip with Space Adventures is still coming up this fall. Brin’s $5 million deposit also makes him the founding member of a new Space Adventure club called the Orbital Mission Explorers Circle. The membership appears to work something like a vacation timeshare, but for space. Brin and any other new members that join get preferential options to the mission seats or can sell the seat to another space traveler if there schedule just doesn’t allow for traveling to space that day.

What are ya gonna do? Resistance is futile at this point. I put a bullet in a Hello Kitty MP3 player once and it just reformed, got up and spawned a new product. I ran for like 2 days and they just kept multiplying. They finally left me alone when I bought my Hello Kitty toaster. They just wanted me to conform. That’s all. It’s cool now.
