Nexus 3 spotted?

Posted in Mobile Phones by Conner Flynn on May 29th, 2011

Rumor is that Google has been working on a new Nexus handset and now we may have a brief glimpse at it thanks to folks at TechHog who have a photograph that is supposed to be a prototype of the Nexus 3. The phone is apparently being manufactured by HTC.

It has a front facing camera, and is being tested on HSPA+ and Sprint CDMA networks. So it looks like Google will launch the phone on Sprint since the carrier has been working with Google on Google Voice and Google Wallet. Other than that, we know nothing little else. However Techhog was asked to remove the images and info, so that pretty much confirms things.

Here is a great gift for the geek in your life. You could always give it to yourself too. You’ve earned it. The QWERTY Leather Wallet puts your keyboard next to your cash.

You can practice your typing whenever you bring your wallet out to pay for something. Or pretend that you have to enter a super secret code just to open your wallet. It will have cashiers baffled. And keeping in the playful spirit, it even has the phrase “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” on the inside, which will remind you to step away from your actual keyboard more often.

Flashing Star Trek T-Shirt

Posted in Apparel by Conner Flynn on May 26th, 2011

It says Star Trek. It flashes. That’s enough to get your geek wallet out right there. It comes with a white or yellow flashing image and there are even Star Trek Enterprise and Star Trek Voyager shirts available. They are 100% cotton and the battery pack comes away for washing it.

It requires a whopping 4 AAA Batteries which are hidden in the lining. Seems like there is no way that wearing 4 AAA batteries is going to be comfy, but then again, this is a Star Trek shirt that flashes. It could have a car battery attached and it would be cool.

Dish Network to buy Blockbuster for $228 million

Posted in News by Reuben Drake on April 6th, 2011

Dish Network has opened up it’s massive wallet today and announced that it will be acquiring Blockbuster for $228 million. The satellite provider participated in a bankruptcy court auction for Blockbuster, with a winning bid of $320 million. After some adjustments for cash and inventory, the companies both agreed on the final price.

So Blockbuster will continue in some form, we just aren’t sure what Dish’s plans are for it at this time. Who knows, maybe they will try to take on Netflix, though that might be futile.

Nintendo claims best first-day US handheld sales ever for 3DS

Posted in Nintendo 3DS by Conner Flynn on March 29th, 2011

Nintendo is counting piles and piles of 3D cash. Without glasses of course. The company has issued a press release claiming that “U.S. day-one sales numbers for Nintendo 3DS were the highest of any Nintendo hand-held system in our history.” To clarify, that’s unit sales.

We don’t have exact numbers, but the big N says that more information will be available when the NPD releases its report on the first-week sales. So it looks like the $250 price point might have been right on target and plenty of fans opened their wallets wide.

Visa begins iPhone ‘iWallet’ payment tests in Europe

Posted in News by Conner Flynn on February 1st, 2011

We still need to carry around our credit cards in our wallets, so why not turn your handset into an e-wallet? Might as well. That’s what Visa Europe has in mind with the first commercial deployment of its iPhone payments App.

NFC-capable iPhones should be on their way later this year and the AAPL intends to look into ways for merchants to obtain a cheap and easy set-up for payment kiosks so that mobile payments can be easily handled with the proper infrastructure in place. This iPhone payment system requires users to use an add-on device before making a payment, but the iPhone 5 may have a built-in e-wallet if the rumors turn out to be true.

The Dunhill Biometric Wallet also has a money clip inside to hold your cash, with room for credit cards. Batman’s cash will now be secure, until he drops this off some bridge while fighting the Joker. This is one tough and secure wallet.

FIRE concept watch is sure to be hot

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on January 27th, 2011

This concept watch is hot. The design is on fire. No really it’s named FIRE. It looks awesome and if it ever gets made for real it is sure to burn a hole in your wallet as well. The hour and minute hands are lit by LEDs that simulate torch-style cigarette lighters.

But sadly you can’t actually light a cigarette with it, still it is unique and we always love that. I guess a real lighter attached to your wrist is a bad idea anyway.
