Vizio may have concentrated on WiFi-equipped TVs at CES this year, but now it is expanding to other devices with the announcement of three WiFi-equipped Blu-ray players, and a dual-band ‘HD” router to go with them. The router is the XWR100, which prioritizes HD media streamed to Vizio’s VIA-enabled devices.

Devices like the three newly announced sleek Blu-ray players. The VBR210, VBR220 and VBR231. The VBR231 is the first dual-band wireless Blu-ray player, and all include Vizio Internet Apps (or VIA) to stream content from Vudu, Netflix and other services.

VIZIO just introduced a few more LED backlit HDTVs to their lineup in the form of 19″ and 23″ models. The 23″ models will support full HD resolution, but keeps things thin. The interesting thing about these models is that both can double as extremely large picture frames. Assuming that you aren’t worried about your monthly power bill anyway.

These 19″ and 23″ models will retail for $349 and $399 when available. No word on when we can expect them.

With the economy still in the toilet, many consumers are holding off on big purchases of electronic devices like TVs. Those who are buying are shopping for lower cost products and looking for value over raw features often.

The numbers for LCD TV shipments for Q2 2009 are in and Vizio has grabbed the top spot again in U.S. LCD TV shipment. The firm is tops in the 21.5 to 24-inch, 26-inch, 32-inch, and 37-inch panel size and leads in year over year growth for 40-inch and over 1080p sets.

Vizio has upset the status quo in the HDTV market in America. The company came in, displaced some of the most established names in HDTVs in America and stole the top sales spot. The reason the company was able to do this was that its products are low cost and perform well.

Vizio has announced a new line of HDTVs that will be coming to market over the next several months. The line includes the XVT HDTV series with up to 240Hz refresh rates and TruLED with Smart Dimming technology.

Despite a weak economy, Flat-panel sets are selling like hot-cakes. And Vizio is in first place among LCD TV manufacturers. The folks at DisplaySearch have some interesting new numbers on the flat-panel TV market, which has surged over the last year.

About 7.2 million flat-panel sets were sold in the first quarter of 2009, which is a 23% increase over the numbers from the first quarter of 2008. The numbers show Vizio’s market share at an impressive 18.9%. Higher-end brands like Sony and Samsung didn’t fare as well during the economic downturn and they saw their sales decrease compared to the same period last year.

We first told you about Envizions new console back in October. It goes by the name of the EVO Smart Console will be powered by an AMD Athlon 2.4GHz processor, and will be accompanied by a Fedora-based Linux distro. The open-source console will give you game play, Internet access, VoIP communications and HD video playback all in one box.

It should work with Envizions “cloud” computing service, where users can pick up Amiga-based games and a video on demand service where you can choose from over 10,000 titles. The beta shipment for developers will begins next week with a 100 units. More systems will be released later. We have some updated specs below.

Vizio has rapidly become one of the biggest TV makers in America. The company announced recently that in Q4 2008 it was the second largest TV shipper in America beating out many of the largest global TV makers.

Vizio has announced that it is seeking FCC help against Funai Electronics to stop what Vizio calls “extortionate demands” for patent licensing fees being imposed by Funai. Vizio says that when the FCC adopted the digital TV standards in effect for the U.S. it imposed patent license agreements, which Funai isn’t following.

We have heard for a while now that sales in Q4 2008 were abysmal for many retailers. The final quarter of the year is typically huge for most retailers and companies as consumers buy for the holiday season. Q4 2008 was different though and thanks to the poor global economy, not much happened in the way of sales.

Vizio issued a statement today that provided numbers for its shipments over Q4 2008. Despite what most of the rest of the electronics industry reported, Vizio had a great quarter. The company says that over the quarter it was the second largest shipper of HDTVs in America.

Today is one of the busiest shopping days of the year with holiday shoppers flocking to stores and malls for good deals. Despite the poor economy, electronics are still expected to sell well this holiday season and Vizio has announced some of the deals on its HDTVs for today.

Vizio is one of the top shippers of TVs in America. Costco will be offering a 19-inch VA19 LCD HDTV for $199.99 with a coupon through 12-7. At Walmart the 32-inch VP322 plasma HDTV, (the set credited with bringing plasma bask by many research firms) will retail for $437.

These days it’s unusual to hear about a new game console that isn’t from Sony, MS or Nintendo. But it looks like we have a new contender from Envizions Computer Entertainment. This is their first console, the Evo “Smart Console” which is available for pre-order. Interestingly, the console itself is basically a Linux-based computer.

Some specs include an overclocked Athlon 64×2 5600 processor and an ATI Radeon 3200 graphics card. Envizions sees the console being used as a development platform with a “cloud” computing system. What that means is that developers would have to make games specifically for the Evo “Smart Console.” Could that happen? They think so. The new console should ship on November 20th for about $600 and you can pre-order one now with a $100 deposit.

VIZIO, in addition to the new XVT series flat panels it unveiled, also rolled out a few new more budget focused plasmas. These are the VP422 and VP322, priced at around $800 and $600, respectively.

The VIZIO 42-inch VP422 and 32-inch VP322 are highlighted by VIZIO as offering 30,000:1 contrast ratio, longer life and increased brightness. Both models offer 720p native resolution with “enhanced picture controls, multiple color temperature settings and independent Red/Green/Blue adjustment” to make video performance reportedly improved.

We haven’t heard from cheap flat panel CE company VIZIO much since CES earlier this year. The company is back though in the news today with some new HDTVs, priced at between around $1,500 and $1,900.

The new models in the company’s XVT series are the SV420XVT, SV47XVT and VP505XVT. Key features include Silicon Optix REON HQV processing, 30,000:1 contrast Ratio, 1200 nits brightness and 5.1 virtual surround sound. Amongst the other LCD HDTVs VIZIO was showing off last week at CES, one line which is being called “contemporary styled” is the new VU “Envy” series. It is set to be available sometime this year, though plans are finalized as of yet.

VIZIO said the VU series, which consists of 32-, 37- and 42-inch displays, offers up a side “HD Game Port” for easy connectivity to HDMI enabled devices. VIZIO said these models offer “exceptional video performance with reduced pixel noise and color equalization.”

VIZIO, besides flooding CES with new HDTVs, also unveiled at the trade show an accompanying 5.1 surround sound system for its new line of “Black Tie” flat panels. The VIZIO Jive SV5.1 Enhancement Kit is priced at around $300.

The VIZIO Jive SV5.1 Enhancement Kit is pretty much your garden variety 5.1 system. It works in conjunction with your flat panel’s “integrated front left- and-right speakers by simply adding the center channel, two rear channel (left and right) speakers, and wireless subwoofer. The subwoofer transmits wirelessly through 2.4GHz transmission to the new VIZIO Black Tie Series SV42LF or SV47LF.”

VIZIO, that upstart HDTV brand you see for sale at Costco-like places, is dropping the LCD hammer big time at CES as it reveals lots of new HDTVs. One new line up of flat panel displays is the “Black Tie” series.

The VIZIO “Black Tie” series includes 42 and 47-inch displays. It is noted by VIZIO for having “120Hz processing with MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation), a side access HD game port and full 1080p resolution.”
