Japanese Spy Camera looks like a cat

Posted in Spy Gear by Conner Flynn on March 7th, 2011

This weird looking Japanese cat is actually a spy camera. The camera is called the Necono Digital Camera. Ideally a spy camera should not stand out, yet this odd cat completely stands out. Maybe people will just think it is an odd figurine as you record them.

The camera has a 3MP sensor and can shoot both VGA video and still shots. The camera measures 100 x 30 x 30mm and weighs 40G. Apparently the buttons for activating the shutter are on the cats butt and the lens is in the cat’s eye.

It will also use the SpotPass passive connection feature that works even when no game is in the system and when its in sleep mode, to download new content.

Amazon Prime Instant Video vs the competition

Posted in Amazon by Conner Flynn on February 24th, 2011

Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service is here, but how does its content measure up to the competition? Clicker.com has the answers and has created this handy chart to help sort out the detail. Netflix has a lot more content right now, that’s for sure, but the Amazon service compares more closely to Hulu Plus than anything else.

It’s a good start for Amazon though even though Amazon’s movie selections are lacking in high profile movies not already on Netflix, it does have some unavailable episodes of Mister Rogers Neighborhood, Bonanza and Dr. Who (1963), so that’s something. It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Google to bring more live sports coverage to YouTube

Posted in YouTube by Conner Flynn on February 23rd, 2011

After some successful trials, streaming live cricket matches and special events, Google is now looking to expand its live coverage of sports events on YouTube. The company is currently in talks with the NBA and NHL to stream games live. Basketball and Hockey fans would be very pleased to see that.

Throughout its live streaming trials Google data showed that during the Indian Premier League live cricket coverage, users spent on average around 40 minutes watching each game. Compare that with an average of 15 minutes per user viewing videos on YouTube at other times. You can see why they are interested.
