HK e-Car MAO-VBOX Black Box for your car with videoBlack boxes have proven to be useful after accidents in planes and have been becoming more popular for use in personal automobiles as well. Not only can they help determine the cause of an accident but insurance companies can potentially use them to determine the driving habits of its customers, which isn’t always a popular prospect for consumers.

Apparently having a data recorder in your car that keeps track of movement and speed just isn’t enough these days. This is not your grandmother’s sewing machine

The BelOga Sewing Machine

It’s good to know that someone out there has updated one of mankind’s original gadgets, the sewing machine. Crafters and grandmothers everywhere will rejoice. Kristine Bruckner designed this sewing machine, named the belOga, to be high on design and to be efficient. It’s a success on both counts.

Anyone who has ever tried to thread a sewing machine knows what a chore it can be. Well, with this machine, just drop the spool of thread in and it threads itself. Hey, for sewing that’s huge!(Not that I sew. Honestly…I just know people who do.) The machine also sports a screen that will actually show you what the stitch will look like in advance. That will stop mistakes from happening and save alot of time.

Yung Fu Technology’s heavy handled PMP

This PMP is hard to handle…Mostly because of the awkward and ugly handle built into it. They wanted to help you lug around the 2-pound weight load. I guess the 7″ screen didn’t help. It also sports an integrated DVB-T mobile TV tuner and a built-in speaker.

Didn’t they talk to other manufacturers? Don’t they know that people are thinking smaller and lighter these days? Then again, maybe they wanted to stand out. Mission accomplished guys. There doesn’t seem to be any word on what kind of storage you can expect and no word on pricing.

The next gen internet gets faster

Posted in Internet2,Networking,News by Chetz on October 10th, 2007

Internet2 team reaches faster speeds up to 100GpbsThe creators of the recently constructed Internet2 network have achieved a breakthrough in boosting the speed of transmission. When the network went online in August the fastest believed speed would be somewhere approaching 10 gigabits per second (Gbps). That’s already plenty more speed than the high-speed connections people have in their homes and offices (about 5 megabytes per second).

Now the Internet2 team has achieved speeds up to 100 Gpbs, ten times the previous fastest speed, by sending data via ten different wavelengths over the same cable. Ten different colors of light to transmit the data means that the data gets there ten times faster. As fast as that is, the administrators working at Internet2 are already planning on upgrading their technology sometime in the next 12 to 18 months which could boost the speeds even further, up to 400 Gbps.

Thrustmaster T-Wireless NW controller for the Nintendo Wii gives a different and better grip for older style gamesWhile it may look like a painted-up controller for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 it is in fact made for the Nintendo Wii. This is the Thrustmaster T-Wireless NW controller and it’s designed for play with the older, classic video games that are being ported for play to the Wii generation.

You get about 30 feet of play range out of it and you can customize the keys, mini-sticks and the D-pad for whatever function you desire. There are also two unusual buttons that will help you get better scores with your Miis: a turbo bottom which you only need to press once to get the same action as repeated button mashing; and a slow button which, if you can guess, slows the on-screen action down when reaction time is of the essence.
