Olidata rolls out Wireless USB adapter set |
Olidata rolled out its Wireless USB adapter set in Europe recently, based on Wisair’s WSR601 single chip. You can get it in retail centers in Europe and it allows users to transform their current USB devices into Wireless USB devices, with easy and clutter-free access as long as they remain inside the range. The solution, consists of a pair of USB adapters, one for the device and one for the PC. It brings wireless connectivity to USB devices like hard drives, printers, digital still cameras, camcorders, CD/DVD writers and hubs. It should make life a bit more convenient. Prices start from 59 Euros.
It wasn’t so long ago that a wireless broadband modem was a large and clunky device that often needed two of your available USB ports to operate. The things drew lots of power and were just plain big. Modems today have shrunk in size and need less power from your notebook. Verizon has announced a new and small wireless broadband modem that will be available soon.

It looks like ASUS fans have another model to consider from the company, the new N20A model. You can choose from four different Core 2 Duo processors, though it sports an integrated Intel GMA X4500HD graphics chipset. You’ll get up to 4GB of RAM, a max 320GB hard drive, and a DVD burner, built-in webcam, memory card reader. There are also HDMI and VGA outputs, three USB ports, an ExpressCard slot, eSATA port, 8-in-1 media card reader, and the Trusted Platform Module 1.2 in select models. No word on price yet.

Looks like Western Digital has entered the world of HD media streaming. The WD TV HD Media Player is said to “turn your USB drive into an HD media player, allowing you to watch your favorite HD movies on your TV.” So, basically it lets you plug in a USB hard drive and play multimedia clips up to 1080p on your HDTV via HDMI/composite outputs. Comes with a remote control and browsing software. The small 1.6- x 4.9- x 3.9-inch box is pretty portable and the $129.99 price doesn’t hurt too much.
Those who tote around a portable projector for presentations will appreciate this one. Connecting to your computer with a VGA or DVI cable is very clumsy. The great advantage of the Epson EX70 is that you can connect via a USB cable. There are maybe one or two other projectors that can do this. If you want that convenience, check out the Epson EX70 for $799. You’ll like the fact that a USB cable is pretty easy to carry with you rather then a DVI or VGA cable. It makes setting things up a breeze.
