LG has added a new netbook to their line-up with the launch of the LG X200. The LG X200 Netbook features Intel’s new Pine Trail platform, and comes with a 1.66GHZ Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and features Intel GMA 3150 graphics.

Some other specs include a chicklet style keyboard, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11n WiFi, and a few USB ports. The netbook weighs about 2.7 pounds.

I guess there is a big market for novelty flash drives. There are so many flash drives out there that have strange designs, someone must be buying them. The latest strange flash drives to turn up are from Active Media Products.

The drives are in the Endangered Species USB flash drive line and come in penguin, polar bear, and panda bear styles. Each drive is 2.2-inches long and support Mac and PC systems. The drives are made from silicone and are PVC, lead, and mercury free.

It’s nice to finally see a steady flow of USB 3.0 devices hitting the market. The latest is from Sharkoon Technologies. The SATA QuickPort Duo USB 3.0 docking station. It will hold a few SATA hard drives/SSDs, and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. It holds 2.5” and 3.5” SATA hard drives and SSDs.

While not much to look at, it sure will come in handy for backing up data. The device includes two USB 3.0 ports and retails for 59.90 Euros if you’re want to pick one up.

These new Corsair USB drives will help prevent such things. The Padlock 2 features OS-agnostic password protection via the keypad, plus 256-bit encryption. 8GB units are available now, priced at £46 in the UK and $59 in the US.

Infinitec’s new flash drive is one pretty unique flash drive. It’s a USB stick that packs an 802.11n module which can create an ad hoc network through any device’s USB port. Even though it looks like just a flash drive. Put simply, it will let you stream media to devices that don’t like you streaming media.

It also functions as a Dual Disk RAID Controller so you can attach two hard drives to it, connect it to a USB 2.0 port and use it as external storage. The 2-line LCD display makes things even easier. And it weighs only 8 ounces, so you can carry it with you.

Looking for something different in a flash drive? Something colorful and festive that celebrates the Chinese new year? Well, this is your lucky day. This new USB drive has the Year of the Tiger theme. If it’s the Eye of the Tiger you’re looking for, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

These drives come from Kingston and hold up to 8GB of storage. It’s part of their DataTraveler line, but likely won’t be available outside of Asia, so if you want one, you better get it shipped from there.

This USB hub may not look like much, but it’s got it where it counts kid. In speed. The first actual USB 3.0 hardware is finally starting to trickle out. Now we have some USB 3.0 hard drives, flash drives and before long a USB 3.0 compliant humping dog.

So that stuff all requires a hub to bring it all together. Like the Buffalo BSH4A03U3, with data transfer speeds approaching 5Gbps. It will move your virtual bits about ten times faster than the old USB 2.0.

This flash drive from Kingston will give you just 2 GB of memory, which is occupied by a pre-loaded copy of the movie “This is it”. It also comes with Windows Media Player 11. The Kingston drive will cost you $20 and is branded with the movie’s logo.

Silicon Power has announced a new line of USB flash drives called the Helios 101. The new flash drives come in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB capacities and the plug and play drives feature a polished aluminum casing.

Some other specs include a USB 2.0/1.1 interface and they are compatible with both Mac and PC. The Helios 101 will be available in the next few weeks in just two color options. Apple green and ocean blue. Nothing on pricing yet, but they should be on par with other flash drive of the same sizes.

Corsair has a couple of new SSDs in the Nova and Reactor. The Nova comes in 64GB and 128GB capacities, while the Reactor series comes in 60GB and 120GB capacities. The Nova is a 2.5″ SSD that uses MLC NAND chips and 64MB of cache, for read speeds of up to 215MB/s on both the V128 and V64, with writing speeds of 130MB/s for the V64 drive and 195MB/s for the larger V128.

The Reactor series is equipped with a 128MB cache and read/write speeds of up to 250/110 MB/s for the 60GB model and 250/170 MB/s for the 120GB model. The Reactor series also features a mini USB port.

Lots of people out there like to keep a flash drive on them at all times. This allows them to be able to share files and move files to and from a computer or between home and the office without having to dig for floppy discs or burn a CD or DVD.

Active media Products has unveiled a new flash drive called the MotKey that is designed to look like a car key. The point of the device is that the MotKey will blend in with the keys already on your key ring. The MotKey is offered in 4GB or 8GB capacities.

It wasn’t that long ago when Corsair’s 128GB Voyager GT was considered the fastest in the world. Well now it looks like the 128GB Voyager GTR will take its place. The GTR has read speeds of 34MB/s and write speeds of 28MB/s, where the existing 128GB Voyager GT which has 32MB/s and 25.6MB/s read and write speeds.

Those speeds will cost you a premium of $426. But hey, how much is that speed worth to you, with USB 3.0 around?…

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has officially endorsed two new 500 gigabyte external USB hard drives for the PS3, in Japan. The Buffalo HD-AV500U2 and the HD-CL500U2 are the first add-on storage solutions to be officially recognized by Sony and are being released overseas in March. The launch coincides with the launch of the PS3′s “torne” DVR hardware / software combo.

Neither drive has any special features that make them usable only with PS3; in fact, the HD-CL500U2 is basically one of Buffalo’s already available external HDDs, with a model number change. The HD-AV500U2 will fit into your existing entertainment center setup and has a handy blue LED display that shows remaining disk space.
