The company is handing out a free two-year subscription extension to all affected customers and they will soon start a program to reimburse some expenses that customers incurred in repairing their PCs. It will apparently be starting in the next few days.

The Potty FisherGiven the diet of most Americans, you better decide which you want to spend your day doing, fishing or on the toilet. Cause with so little fiber in your diet, you probably can’t manage both. Or can you? Thanks to the Potty Fisher, you can have the best of both worlds.

Clog up the tank you are sitting on while fishing for magnetic fish in the tank in front. It combines a man’s two favorite hobbies, fishing and spending hours in the bathroom.

Posted in Storage by Shane McGlaun on July 16th, 2009

verbatimsurefire-sbYears ago, you could find some Windows PCs that had FireWire ports and if you really want a FireWire port today you can probably still find some PCI cards that will add them. For the most part the FireWire port is something that you find on Mac computers today.

Verbatim has announced a new external hard drive line called the SureFire series that sports both FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 connectivity. The drive is compatible with Mac and Windows PCs. When used with a USB port no external power adapter is needed.

Beer Fund bank always has beer money

Beer Fund bank, always has beer moneyThis electronic change counting bank makes sure that you always have money for beer. Because in these tough times, beer money too often goes toward other frivolous things like a “mortgage”, or a “college fund”. Make sure that doesn’t happen to your beer money by making daily deposits.

It will count and tally up your total savings, but sadly doesn’t translate that into number of beers saved. It also won’t convert the change into cash, so you’ll be known as “that guy who always pays in pennies”.

Creative Vado HD camcorder now shipping

Posted in Creative by Shane McGlaun on December 9th, 2008

Creative Vado HDWhen my four-year-old daughter was born most camcorders available still used tapes to record video. The tapes were Mini DV, not the massive VHS tapes from my youth, but tapes nonetheless. Today tapes are quickly going the way of the Dodo with most camcorders using hard drivers or flash media for storage.

Creative has announced that its Vado HD camcorder is now shipping at a price of $199. The small camcorder records in 720p HD resolution and video can be output directly to a HDTV in 1080i resolution over an included HDMI cable.

Harion Glass Speakers for $168,000

Posted in Speakers by Conner Flynn on November 30th, 2008

Harion Glass Speakers for $168,000If you are looking to drop a ton of dough on speakers, it should probably be on speakers that you won’t drop and shatter in a million pieces. These Harion speakers are made of Heat-resistant glass and are pretty sweet looking despite their fragile nature. They’ll cost you $168,000.

You get a center speaker, a sub woofer, a couple of tweeters and mid-range speakers. It took three years, eight months and 23 subcontractors to dekiver a finished product. Which probably explains the cost. No word on what they sound like, but we have an idea. We’re guessing they sound like any other glass that’s ever hit the floor, followed by you weeping and wondering why, dear God, why did you have to pay so much for something so fragile?

Crayola EZ Type keyboard

Posted in Keyboards by Conner Flynn on August 25th, 2008

Crayola EZ Type keyboardThe Crayola EZ Type keyboard sure isn’t easy on the eyes. It’s great to use when you want your kids germy and sticky hands well away from your own keyboard. Alternately, it would be great for old people for the same reason, plus the colored keys are big and easy to read. Or maybe you just like your accessories to look like crayons. Either way, you can get it from Crayola for $29.99. Also great for those in clown college. I’m surprised they didn’t put that crayon sharpener on it somewhere like on the crayon box.

Bass Deluxe Ticket Booth

Do you feel like you already have the ultimate geek home theater room? What might take it beyond that, you ask? How about your own ticket booth? If charging your guests to see a movie at your house sounds like a nice way to finance the monthly payments on your setup, Bass Industries has a couple of ticket booths you’ll want to check out.

Two ticket booths seem to make the current Bass line up – a regular and a deluxe model. The regular one includes an illuminated header, optional curtain background image and is available in a variety of finishes and curtain colors. The deluxe model adds to this, it seems, by just looking more classy.

Creative TravelSound portable speaker, now for the iPod nano

Posted in Speakers by Darrin Olson on May 23rd, 2008

Creative Travelsound portable speaker for the iPod nanoCreative has launched a new addition to it’s line of portable speakers with the TravelSound for the iPod nano. This one-piece speaker attaches to the docking port of Apple’s nano and pumps out the sound to share with others. This new TravelSound speaker appears very similar to the TravelSound i50 that we saw last fall for the iPod nano, and the design is no doubt inspired by it.

The new TravelSound portable speaker is relatively small and lets the 3rd generation nano fit right into the design giving it an overall thickness of less than an inch with 3.9 inches in total height. It also comes with a little plastic stand, and if you can keep from losing it since it’s not attached, will provide a safer rest for the speaker with your iPod in it.

Yamaha Deus Ex Machina concept bike

Yamaha Deus Ex Machina concept bike
This Yamaha-branded Deus Ex Machina concept motorcycle was dreamed up by Jake Loniak, an Art Center Pasadena student. It obviously looks awesome. Like a robot and a vehicle all in one. Since it’s a concept, Jake went a little crazy with the specs. It will be powered by ultra-capacitors and doped nano-phoshpate batteries (like those in hybrid cars). 36 pneumatic muscles and 2 linear actuators are set along a spine consisting of seven vertebrae, and that’s what keeps it in control.

Another cool touch is that the helmet is pneumatically attached for ease-of-use. Jake claims that his design can reach a top speed of 75mph, I’m just not sure how well protected a human would be in this thing. I do know that I want to see it in action NOW.
