Yesterday we saw a PC in a vase at Computex, today it’s an Atom-based net-top in a Ferrari. There isn’t much info about it. We simply know that it has the guts of a netbook and appears to be sticking it’s tongue out in the form of a CD tray.

The body is custom-molded as well as the optical drive tray. I proclaim thee a thing of awesomeness. Other things we would like to see PCs crammed inside? Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder, Barbie’s Dream car and the Batmobile, just to name a few.

As far as innovative toasters go, I’ll stick with the VHS toaster over this butter-knife type deal. At least with that one I wont accidentally toast my hand in the morning.

It’s a design concept by Kim Been that looks like a knife but is really a handheld toaster. All you need to do is run it across the bread until it’s toasted to your liking. An animated graphic shows you how you are doing, which your you should be able to see with your own eyes.

This toaster is part of Ivo Vos’s ‘Brunch’ collection. It’s a toast catapult or trebuchet. One cool feature is that it lets you calibrate the force and angle of your toast’s trajectory. Presumably so that you can have a plate all set up in the right place. It’s one of many prototypes for kitchen equipment from the Dutch designer.

It’s all about precision. In fact, the project is intended to be a statement on perfection, precision, and order. But the important thing is this: This toaster launches your damn toast. And that’s awesome. I’m guessing we won’t see it come to market for awhile, which is a shame. Toasters were meant to function in such ways.

Gadget makers love toasters. That’s because gadget buyers love everything shaped like a toaster. Whether it will make toast or not. Just check our archives of everything toaster-related. You’ll see. The latest toast-related item to come across our desk and leave a trail of crumbs is this device for powering-up your gadgets.

The “Toasting Charger” concept by Hyun-A Ko is designed to charge your batteries like a toaster cooks bread to a crispy golden brown. Just slide in a lithium ion battery, push down the handle and wait for it to pop, fully charged, maybe even buttery. There’s a color coded light on the side to show you the battery’s progress.

Why anyone would want to put a computer inside of a toaster is beyond me.(As if I never thought about it). And the creator didn’t just stuff a computer into some modern plastic toaster, instead he went the full distance and jammed it in a vintage chrome toaster. And not a 2 slice job, but 4 slice.

The only downside is that one wants it to still make toast, maybe with the computer’s excess heat, but alas it has no toasting abilities. It does have a 3600 MHz processor, 2.5 inch hard drive, DVD-rom drive, and a router inside. It’s what the PC may have looked like in the 1950′s…If toast never existed.

We’ve seen plenty of examples of toasters here at the Brick. Could be that we love toast. Could be that toast is a bloggers best friend as it symbolizes crisp content and is all buttery and good.

Whatever the reason, we think this one looks like a toast MRI machine that will check it’s crust for tumors and the like. As far as toasters go, it actually looks futuristic. And when you can watch the process it’s just plain fun for the easily entertained. It’s a concept design from Daniel Thomas. I don’ know if he’s any relation to the English muffin guy, but it’s obviously is in the blood somewhere.

We’ve all seen the many geek toasters that do things like write text and such, but a geek can not live on toast and blogging alone. No more waffling, I present to you the Corona-Matic Waffle Keyboard Maker. This keyboard will give you sticky fingers. I know you’re excited, after all it even has a place for your various jams and syrups and what not. But there’s one problem my waffle loving Belgium friends. You can’t buy it. The hell you say? No, you can’t buy it. I just like to taunt you with breakfast foods.

It’s the brainchild of Chris Dimino and it was created as part of a project that involved giving useless old products a new lease on life. The useless product here was a Corona typewriter. It’s much better now that it makes keyboard shaped waffles. And you can’t get one…Neither can I. Anyone else need to head out to to an all day breakfast place? I’ll be back in a bit.

This toaster tosses convention completely out the window. The Fagor TP-2006 X is a flat toaster and it looks way cooler than traditional ones. It also makes for a dangerous breakfast time. It’s probably not good for those with a house full of kids who like sticking their hands in objects.

Like other toasters, the Fagor TP-2006 X comes with a crumb tray that can be slid out. It’s clearly begging to have a burger on it’s grill as well, though I’m sure they do not recommend it. Looks like it can fit four slices of bread on it’s surface at once. It’s got me rethinking everything. If we can have a flat toaster, surely we can have a George Foreman grill that stands upright.

Maybe it’s because many of us geeks heated up wires with electricity to create a make-shift toaster as our 5th grade science project, or possibly it’s that toast is one of the tried and true breakfast foods that we have trouble screwing up? Whatever the reason toasters seem to be a popular item with gadget lovers everywhere, despite a limited variety of designs available to consumers.

When we saw this transparent toaster concept we couldn’t help but share. It uses heated glass to burn a single piece of bread in plain view right before your eyes, eliminating all guessing as to what setting your toaster needs today to get it just right. How to clean it and where the crumbs go and how you get your toast out of it may still have to be worked out, but we’d be one of the first few in line to give it a try.

Not to often does a guy get to write about breakfast gadgets but it’s a good thing that cool gadgets are everywhere, including your kitchen!
