Yesterday we saw a PC in a vase at Computex, today it’s an Atom-based net-top in a Ferrari. There isn’t much info about it. We simply know that it has the guts of a netbook and appears to be sticking it’s tongue out in the form of a CD tray.

The body is custom-molded as well as the optical drive tray. I proclaim thee a thing of awesomeness. Other things we would like to see PCs crammed inside? Luke Skywalker’s landspeeder, Barbie’s Dream car and the Batmobile, just to name a few.

I knew there was a use for all of those old VHS tapes in the closet. Seven, count ‘em, seven VHS tapes are holding up this light bulb. Whether it’s old Sanford and Son shows or Star Trek the Next Generation, old television is the new way to light your home.

As the creator points out, the lamp is designed to be used with a CFL (compact flourescent) bulb ONLY. A standard bulb might get too hot and melt your VHS tapes. There’s nothing worse than a mound of melted tape. Trust me on that one. Goes well with the VHS toaster.

If you’re getting bored with eating eggs, why not spice things up with this fancy egg printer. Those plain white shells will soon be festive. The Egg Drawer puts pretty pictures on that incredible edible canvas.

With this and the Scan Toaster, your entire breakfast can be a work of art. Sadly, we can’t find any details for this thing, just the Flickr photostream. We need more of these by Easter next year. Looks like you can swap out any color marker for another.

This followup is part toaster, part Super Nintendo, and is perfect for any geek kitchen. We’re hoping that the toaster/console trend keeps on keeping on, because there are still a whole bunch that need to be assimilated. Video below.

As far as innovative toasters go, I’ll stick with the VHS toaster over this butter-knife type deal. At least with that one I wont accidentally toast my hand in the morning.

It’s a design concept by Kim Been that looks like a knife but is really a handheld toaster. All you need to do is run it across the bread until it’s toasted to your liking. An animated graphic shows you how you are doing, which your you should be able to see with your own eyes.

Okay. Not really. But that’s how a format war would play out with this VHS toaster. It may look like a typical Daewoo VCR, but this one takes slices of bread instead of VHS tapes.

It actually toasts the letters VHS onto the toast. It only gets better if someone makes one that toasts movie scenes onto your bread. When your VCR is toast, then by all means let it make toast. Video below.

This toaster is part of Ivo Vos’s ‘Brunch’ collection. It’s a toast catapult or trebuchet. One cool feature is that it lets you calibrate the force and angle of your toast’s trajectory. Presumably so that you can have a plate all set up in the right place. It’s one of many prototypes for kitchen equipment from the Dutch designer.

It’s all about precision. In fact, the project is intended to be a statement on perfection, precision, and order. But the important thing is this: This toaster launches your damn toast. And that’s awesome. I’m guessing we won’t see it come to market for awhile, which is a shame. Toasters were meant to function in such ways.

What’s one to do with all of those used up hard drives lying around? Turn them into swappable storage options, ala flash memory cards? That’s the idea anyhow with the new NewerTech Voyager Q hard drive docking station, being shown off at MacWorld and costing around $100.

It works with both Macs and PCs and lets its owner boot and swap drives at will, offering transfer speeds with a connected computer of up to 300MB/s.

The latest toast-related item to come across our desk and leave a trail of crumbs is this device for powering-up your gadgets.

The “Toasting Charger” concept by Hyun-A Ko is designed to charge your batteries like a toaster cooks bread to a crispy golden brown. Just slide in a lithium ion battery, push down the handle and wait for it to pop, fully charged, maybe even buttery. There’s a color coded light on the side to show you the battery’s progress.

I’m not sure which is more awesome, this Vader toaster or the old Cylon toaster. Hey, that’s why bread has two sides. Start your day with a breakfast branded with the image of the dark side’s lead spokesperson. As Luke would say, “There’s still good in him, I taste it.” This toaster will cost you $55 and you’ll be cleaning up Salacious Crumbs. How’s that for a bad nerd joke?

When you think about it, it’s kind of weird that toast is such a hugely popular food. I mean it’s basically burnt bread that’s ready to crumble in your hands. What’s weirder are all the new ways we’ve found to enjoy toast. We can even make it in our PC’s and decorate it with a frakken cylon. The Scan Toaster printer concept takes it all a step further, from designer Sung Bae Chang.

Details are a bit thin, but it connects to the internet via USB and can print images or text on bread using a flexible “module” unit heated by a wire. What it means is that you could read the news on the very breakfast that you eat. The Scan Toaster concept was a finalist in the 2008 Electrolux Design Lab competition. Sadly, it may be awhile before it hits the kitchen.

NES in a toaster? We’re sold. Anything in a toaster that isn’t actually toast gets the ‘Brick’s seal of approval. When these things actually make toast, well, that’s just a bonus. The mod features a functional front lever that is now a power switch, and some red LEDs that light up your cartridge but won’t turn it into toast. It’s a real pain getting up from your computer and walking to the kitchen to get your favorite snack, toast. You would think that cylon toaster you bought would motivate you. If only you had a way to make toast with your computer.

Wait a minute. You’ve got that spare drive bay that you’ve never used. Meet the CrazyPC 5.25 Bay Toaster, a toaster that fits in a standard 5.25-inch drive bay, and even includes software for adjusting the heat and time. Just insert the bread like a doughy CD and wait. Hot fresh toast is served. I’m not sure how it handles the crumbs. If you’ve ever cleaned out your toaster you know that crumbs will collect on the bottom. Only $29.99.

Here’s something that makes my cold geek heart melt, skip a beat and pop out of my chest cartoon style. This Lego version of Donkey Kong actually moves people! It moves! It’s alive! Rolling barrels roll. Donkey Kong throws rolling barrels at Mario and Mario jumps. Have a look at the video below.

Pretty awesome invention. I’m not joking when I say that it’s right up there with the toaster and the waffle maker. The guy even made it play the Donkey Kong game start song. If I were rich I would create a Think tank with guys like this, throw a trillion bucks at them and see what else they could do. I would advance geekery and nerdum ahead by a good thousand years.

Why anyone would want to put a computer inside of a toaster is beyond me.(As if I never thought about it). And the creator didn’t just stuff a computer into some modern plastic toaster, instead he went the full distance and jammed it in a vintage chrome toaster. And not a 2 slice job, but 4 slice.

The only downside is that one wants it to still make toast, maybe with the computer’s excess heat, but alas it has no toasting abilities. It does have a 3600 MHz processor, 2.5 inch hard drive, DVD-rom drive, and a router inside. It’s what the PC may have looked like in the 1950’s…If toast never existed.
