Angry Birds iPad update adds 15 new levels

The Angry Birds game has sold millions of copies worldwide and now it has been given a new update on the iPad HD version. The new update, 1.5.0, released for Angry Birds HD on the iPad includes Game Center support and 15 new levels and even a new theme. The birds are still angry.

There’s also a new golden egg and a Cowboy up with the mighty eagle feature. You can download the new iPad update from the iTune App Store. A new iPhone update is expected to appear soon as well.

iRiver LZR Racer Aquabeat for underwater tunesIt’s that time of year again. iRiver has teamed up with Speedo to introduce the LZR Racer Aquabeat, an underwater MP3 player. The DAP can handle 3 meter depths and up to 30 minutes of underwater swimming.

The Aquabeat features 2 GB of internal memory and supports playback of MP3 and WMA files. There’s no display, but it has the basic controls like play,stop, change track and volume control. The Aquabeat is available in Japan only for about $145.

Here’s some good news, if you’ve been anxiously anticipating the rumored Tony Hawk Sidekick LX to launch. It will be officially “previewed” tomorrow, but you’ll have to wait until mid July to get one. You know the deal, it’s got a skateboard theme and feel with some kind of authentic grip-tape-texture and Tony Hawk’s name slapped on the thing.

The interesting thing is, it will have video recording capability with a firmware update, called play and share, stereo Bluetooth support, easier downloads and more themes and background personalization options. This summer, all Sidekick LX customers will get have it OTA.

Haier introduces new wireless portable media players

Haier ibizaHaier America (?!) this week used CES as its platform for getting into the wireless MP3 player market. It unveiled a new line up of flash and hard drive based portable media players which make use of online services like Rhapsody to collect content wirelessly. This players are called the ibiza Rhapsody and it is available now in at least a 30GB hard drive model.

The ibiza Rhapsody players for Haier let you, in summary, have “Wi-Fi enabled access to unlimited digital entertainment possibilities. With the ibiza Rhapsody, consumers can now enjoy the Rhapsody digital music service, AOL Video and other digital content from just about anywhere there’s an available Wi-Fi hotspot.” You can also directly subscribe to a variety of podcasts from the player and enjoy an integrated FM radio.

Google OpenSocial already off to a running start with MySpace but Facebook left with its head spinningOnly on Thursday Google had made the announcement about its new OpenSocial platform and already news in cropping up of developers taking advantage of this open, common platform. In their announcement we knew there were going to be a number of social networking sites that were already onboard with the new API’s, including Salesforce.com, Hi5, LinkedIn, Ning, and of course Google’s Orkut but we weren’t expecting the giants like MySpace or Facebook.

As it turned out MySpace actually is going to take advantage of OpenSocial along with Bebo, another large social networking site. The one clearly left out of this picture was Facebook, in which this launch echoed a mighty blow to with many of the more significant social network sites in the world taking part in a common platform without them. According to Wired, Facebook representatives maintained that they had “still not been briefed on OpenSocial” despite Google stating that they had, and Facebook employees showing up at Google’s developer sandbox event.

Zipit Wireless Messenger 2Zipit Wireless, a developer of wireless consumer electronics, unveiled today a new Wi-Fi instant messaging device targeted at teens. The Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 is priced at around $150 and should be available in October.

The Zipit Wireless Messenger 2 is a portable handheld device which offers wireless IM connectivity with no monthly or per message fees and supports all the major IM platforms — AOL, Yahoo and MSN. It works with any open wireless hotspot and allows one to have multiple, concurrent conversations. It also lets one listen to music, view photos, play games and customize it with backgrounds, themes and other content.

PSP 3.7 Firmware Update Available

Sony PSP 3.7 version Firmware update is available with new featuresSony has released a new firmware update available now for the PSP, bringing the version up to 3.7. The new update can be picked up automatically through the Network Update Wi-Fi connection on the PSP.

Some of the updates with the new 3.7 version include revisions to increase security and an increased number of Playstation network titles that can be played under “Game”. The system will now also let users set custom theme settings in the Themes menu and a number of features for viewing media have been added.

The CECT W100 Wrist Watch, designed by Qiao Xing Mobile Communication of China, is believed to be the first watch phone in that large Asian country. It comes in seven colors and sports a nice LCD touch screen with which to control its functions. Though no specifics were given by its designers about its phone network capabilities it was said the phone will come with 1GB of built-in memory and supports Bluetooth.
