Posted in PCs by Conner Flynn on March 15th, 2011

Cubitek has launched a new range of gaming PC cases, which they are calling the ‘Tank Series’. The three different models are the XL Tank, the HPTX Tank and the Mini Tank. The name is very appropriate as these new PC gaming cases are made from black hairline-brushed anodized aluminum and looks like a tank.

Each is capable of using high end graphics cards, and all three come with USB 3.0 ports, e-SATA and HD+AC97 Audio. They are built for “silence, functionality, and sexiness”. What do you think? Are they sexy?

Mac fish tank made from an old Power Mac G4 Cube

Posted in Mac by Conner Flynn on January 1st, 2011

Your pets should have the same interests you have right? So, if you are a Mac enthusiast, it makes sense that you would want your fish to love Mac too. Now he/she can. This “Macquarium” is made from an old Power Mac G4 Cube. The cube has been specially modified with bonded plexiglas to make it safe for your fish.

This aquarium measures 8.9″ H × 7.7″ W × 7.7″ D. If you have the $149.00 necessary to get this aquarium, go ahead and geek up your fish, changing it’s computing allegiance from neutral to Apple. Maybe you can put a little Steve Jobs figure in there and play Stevejob Squarepants.

Make your own biodiesel at home safely

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on October 10th, 2010

If you want to make your own biodiesel at home, then this concept personal biodiesel processor is a safe and efficient way to go. It allows you to make an alternate fuel source right from the comfort of your home. Screw the big oil companies.

Just pour the necessary ingredients into the top and the device does the rest. The automated pumps, heating elements and thermostats take care of the entire process. A display shows you the current status. A pull-out tank collects the waste glycerin, which can be easily disposed of, or used for making soap.

Nation-E Angel Car is roadside assistance for EV drivers

Posted in Automotive by Shane McGlaun on September 13th, 2010

I have never run a car I was driving out of gas before. I have had to drive to pick up my wife a few times over the years when she forgot to get gas and ended up stranded. At least with a normal car you can just put a few gallons in the tank to get you to the station.

If you forget to plug in an electric car and you get stranded on the side of the road today, you are out of luck. A company called Nation-E has unveiled a new charging system in Europe that has a mobile charger in the back of a van called Angel Car. The idea is that if an EV owner runs out of juice the van drives to them to give a charge.

Toilet cart is the coolest geek chariot ever

Posted in Automotive by Shane McGlaun on July 8th, 2010

Sometime I run across stuff that is so great it’s just amazing. Today is such a day. A guy named Dave has created the coolest go-cart ever. It’s perfect for cruising at the racetrack and would make the perfect golf cart for drunkards.

The cart is made out of what appears to be a normal enough go cart frame and motor. Rather than seats, the thing has a pair of toilets on it. The tanks for the toilets are replaced with red coolers.

It will also work with other audio devices thanks to additional in-line audio support. The propane tank is used for the grill and will not power your iPod, while four AA batteries help power the speakers of this $130 grill.

Velcro makes the iPad even more versatile

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on May 23rd, 2010

This is the kind of forehead slappin duh innovation that we love to see around here. It’s so simple, we wish we had thought of it. When you attach velcro to your shiny new iPad, it turns Apple’s portable tablet into a wall-mountable hands-free display, but that’s not all.

With velcro there are probably hundreds of new ways to use the iPad. How about as a GPS unit mounted on your motorcycle’s gas tank? Risky for your iPad, but it works. Jesse Rosten demonstrates some interesting uses of velcro in the below video.

Reevu MSX1 helmet with built-in rear-view system

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on April 25th, 2010

Reevu has improved their MSX1 helmet and at least one of them has landed in a reviewer’s hands, or head. The helmet uses a mechanical mechanism instead of rear-view cameras. According to webBikeworld, it functions just like a car’s rear-view mirror, with the small mirror in front resting just outside the rider’s line of sight.

They also say that the helmet is “built like a tank,”. The rear-view system is just icing on the cake of an otherwise already superb helmet. Needless to say, this could save some lives.

Posted in iRobot by Shane McGlaun on February 17th, 2010

Robots are a big deal around here and we are all anxiously waiting for the day when robots will clean the house, mow the lawn, and cook for us so we can spend more time on video games and Facebook. There are some robots already available like the iRobot vacuum cleaners for homes and some robots for law enforcement and military use.

One of the most common robots in the military is the iRobot PackBot. iRobot has announced that it has shipped its 3,000th PackBot since the device was introduced in 2007. The PackBot has tank treads and an articulating arm with a camera to show the remote driver what is going on.

Hot Wheels Stealth Rides RC Cars fold up, are credit card sized

Posted in Toys by Conner Flynn on January 28th, 2010

Well parents, here’s something else you can step on and hurt your foot. Mattel’s ‘Stealth Rides’ are the latest from the Hot Wheels brand. These are real RC cars that fold down to a credit card sized package that’s about as thick as a cellphone, which makes them very convenient to carry in your pocket.

Look for them to be available in August for about $25 each. There are 5 different models, which include cars, some tanks and the Tumbler from Batman. Apparently these cars will run for 30 minutes, before they need a recharge.

Anti-Aging Oxygen Tank for dogs

Posted in Pets by Conner Flynn on January 11th, 2010

Look, we know how you feel about Fluffy. You love your little pooch enough to care for him/her and keep them around forever. If there were a way, short of cutting his head off and freezing it for future generations to re-animate him, you would make Fluffy immortal so he could live forever.

There may be a way. And as usual it is the Japanese who have shown us. If you have way too much money and little common sense, you can slow the doggy aging process. Just like these two chihuahuas inside an anti-aging oxygen therapy chamber at a dog salon in Japan.

H2Orb saves water

Posted in Home by Conner Flynn on November 18th, 2009

H2Orb saves waterAquaOne Technologies’ H2Orb will let you know when you’ve got a leak or an overflow in your toilet. It attaches directly to the water valve behind the toilet, with a single float sensor that hangs inside the toilet tank. When it detects a leak, it shuts off the water and alerts you of the leak with an alarm as well as an icon on its LCD screen. The entire system runs on a single 3V lithium coin cell battery.

This device is great for those who live in places with limited resources, not to mention saving water. The sooner you know about a leak, the better.

The Potty Fisher

Posted in Humor by Conner Flynn on November 11th, 2009

The Potty FisherGiven the diet of most Americans, you better decide which you want to spend your day doing, fishing or on the toilet. Cause with so little fiber in your diet, you probably can’t manage both. Or can you? Thanks to the Potty Fisher, you can have the best of both worlds.

Clog up the tank you are sitting on while fishing for magnetic fish in the tank in front. It combines a man’s two favorite hobbies, fishing and spending hours in the bathroom.
