Samsung launches 46 inch display for outdoor useSamsung Korea has just launched its latest outdoor display for commercial use: the 460DRn. The 46″ display will come with a brightness level of 1,500cd/m2 and has touchscreen support built-in for greater interactivity with customers.

That’s not all, the 460DRn also has an integrated computer under the hood, so you can run your programs without needing another PC. The all-in-one display is water, dust and moisture proof, hence the “for outdoor use” tag. Don’t expect it to be vandalism proof however. Just tell yourself it looks good in graffiti.

MSI has announced its most recent gaming notebook called the GT 628. The machine uses the new NVIDIA GTS 160M GPU that NVIDI promises delivers 50% more performance than the video card it replaces. The GTS 160M also features 1GB of DDR3 RAM.

GenevaSound creates largest sound bar, with largest price tagGenevaSound’s Home Theater system sound bar is the longest sound bar ever designed but it’s yet to be tested. The sound bar sports a 700-watt amplifier and seven speakers which include a 12-inch subwoofer.

All of that, with just 2.1 virtual surround sound. With those speakers and a $4000 price tag, I want 7.1 with a Blu-ray drive and a lot more. What this bar includes? A CD player, radio, and an iPod/iPhone dock to play all your favorite music when not watching TV.

Alien Abduction lamp

Alien Abduction lampThere are few things cooler or more awesome than seeing a cow being lifted into a flying saucer. Though the cow may disagree. Haven’t witnessed this with your own eyes in the night sky? Here’s the next best thing.

The antenna on top is the on/off switch. It comes in a plain version with just the saucer and light ray and you can also get the more humorous cow abducting edition. The Alien Abduction Lamp is in the functional prototype stage and not yet available, sadly. Hopefully soon as I know the creator has been at it for some time.

Amazon’s new video game trade-in program outdoes Gamestop

Posted in Amazon by Conner Flynn on March 5th, 2009

Amazon’s new video game trade-in program outdoes GamestopIf you’re like me, you don’t like spending $50 on a game only to beat it in a few hours and have it sit on the shelf forever. That’s why I resell games or trade them in, so you can get more for your money. Sadly Gamestop’s trade in prices often suck. Well, good news.

According to Webware, Amazon will now buy back used games for more money than Gamestop. Amazon launched the service today, and they currently accept over 1500 titles across platforms. Webware compared some of the bigger, recent releases, and it looks like Amazon offers $2-$3 more for games on average. Shipping is even free. Thanks Amazon. Thank you for caring about my wallet.

Today the bulk of the notebook market has integrated graphics. However, JPR says that by 2012 integrated graphics will be all but gone. The research shows that in 2008 67% of graphics processors shipped were integrated.

ZillionTV offers alternative to subscription TVWant to ditch your overpriced cable TV service and get the same thing? For free? That’s what ZillionTV is all about. It’s a new service that offers ad-supported HDTV shows and pay on demand. See? Just like what you have now. The “Z-bar” is a compact set-top box that gets its video direct from your broadband connection. That’s where the magic happens. It will cost you a $50 installation fee, then you’re all set to stick it to the man.

The service is in beta right now, but when it’s available later in the year, you will have a few options. You can view shows for free with advertising attached, or buy them to watch ad-free shows. And yes, some big names are attached, like NBC Universal, Disney, 20th Century Fox Television, Sony Pictures, and Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. Sounds awesome.

Wii Breakfast goes too far

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on March 4th, 2009

Wii Breakfast goes too farWe love the Wii. Especially when it uses the Wiimote and other attachments properly, so it’s not all gimmicky. But Wii Breakfast may be taking it to extremes.

See for yourself in the Idiots Of Ants’ leaked gameplay footage below. The developer really went to town on the peripherals, which help you make toast, pour milk and read a newspaper. Oh yeah. Also Wii Sausages.

New Apple Airport Extreme juggles two networks at once

Posted in Apple by Conner Flynn on March 3rd, 2009

New Apple Airport Extreme juggles two networks at onceApple offers up something a little different in the wireless router market with the new Airport Extreme. Its dual-band Wi-Fi radios allow the device to work in 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands at the same time. It can also support up to 50 users simultaneously, and does so while setting up separate limited-access networks for guests to restrict access when you need to.

The $179 pricetag on the new Airport Extreme is typical of Apple and isn’t justified. Hasn’t Apple heard that times are tough?
