Nike+ SportWatch GPS will get you in shape

Posted in Exercise Gadgets by Conner Flynn on January 6th, 2011

The new Nike+ SportWatch GPS powered by TomTom is like a fitness coach. One that will track what you do, track how you do it, and then makes you do it again you filthy maggot. Double time! Okay, maybe it isn’t that motivating, but it will help.

The Nike+ SportWatch GPS combines the accuracy of GPS with the shoe-based Nike+ sensor (attached to your iPod Nano) to track time, pace, distance, calories burned, and heart rate, as you do your daily run. It will actually talk to you through your iPod Nano. The Nike Senor translates your workout data from the Sport Kit to your iPod Nano, which can then be connected to NikePlus.com.

Swatch concept has no crystal to scratch

Posted in Concepts by Shane McGlaun on May 7th, 2010

Back when Swatches were popular, I had a bunch of them in bright 80′s colors. The things looked good for a few weeks, and then they were too scratched up to even tell the time on. A new concept carrying the Swatch brand has a design that resists scratches.

The watch has a face made from plastic and coated in rubber with the time markings on it. Around the edge of that face is a glass bezel positioned where scratches won’t be an issue that covers the bright green hands.

StressWatch will calm you with colors

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on September 27th, 2009

StressWatch will calm you with colorsWe live in stressful times. Traffic is stressful, so are long lines at the grocery store. So is your job, since your boss is always on your case. Oh and all of those bills. It’s enough to make you scream. Serenity now! The StressWatch can help. Maybe.

It’s a design concept that reads heart rate and body temperature data and then interprets them as levels of stress on the trippy screen. The black bar at the bottom is the stress line. And if the cool colors on the watch turn into hot pink, red or orange, man you are stressed. The idea is that it will help you know when you need to calm down.

Luxury watchmaker uses 007-style watermark to find fakes

Posted in Watches by Shane McGlaun on April 1st, 2009

lecuberswatch-sbJames Bond was one of my first contact points with the world of cool gadgets as a kid. Bond always had the cool stuff from cars that turn into submarines, to hot chicks, and watches that had frickin’ lasers inside. One watchmaker has announced a new high tech watermark that sounds like a method of sending Bond covert instructions.

Watchmaker Les Cubeurs has announced that it is now using a special high tech watermark on the crystal of its watches. The watermark is made using a special laser etching process and invisible digital ink. The goal of the watermark is to allow the company and its authorized dealers to determine a real watch from a fake.

The I-Turtle grooves to your tunes

Posted in MP3 by Conner Flynn on January 20th, 2009

The I-Turtle grooves to your tunesThe I-Turtle is here to chew bubble gum and dance to your tunes. And he’s all out of bubble gum. It works pretty much in the same way as its predecessor, the I-Dog. It acts as an external speaker for your digital audio player.

Sure, it will respond to your tunes by moving it’s body and bobbing its head, but the I-Turtle is deeper then that. It’s also capable of expressing a wide range of “emotions” through the blinking of lights on it’s shell. That’s all well and good, but what I really want is a turtle that will mimic the turtle from the Comcast commercials. Something I can take to the movie theater, so it can shush loud people with sayings like, “We got a real talker over here. A real talker”. That’s just me.

MK V Shutter watch

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on October 21st, 2008

MK V Shutter watchHere’s a simple and yet interesting watch. This MK V watch from Storm London incorporates a working metal shutter that hides and reveals the face. They should have done this with a James Bond watch since it’s how the movies open. Pretty cool, though it might get old having to click a button to see what time it is, but then again when a pretty girl asks for the time, imagine the impression you’ll make. It’s available in black, slate or rose gold finish with a rubber strap and stainless steel case for $171 to $188.

IBM concept laptop is great for spies, has large knob

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on October 14th, 2008

IBM concept laptop is great for spies, has large knobThis IBM concept laptop looks like something from an alternate dimension. It’s the kind of laptop we might be using had the cold war never ended and spies were everywhere and issued these laptops by Q.

It’s a concept by Nicolas Lehotzky. The most interesting thing about it is the giant security “knob” which is fingerprint activated and allows the laptop to respond only to the owner’s touch, acting as a physical lock. It also has hidden USB ports and a trusty built-in paper shredder. It goes well with the watches depicting the Bond villains.

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on October 6th, 2008

Swatch 007 Villain collection watchesThere’s good news and there’s bad news. The bad news is that these watches haven’t been in Q’s workshop and outfitted with weapons. The good news is that these 007 Villain watches from Swatch look pretty damn cool. Perfect for any villain looking to cause mayhem on a global scale.

You can get 19 different watches from the collection, all based on classic Bond movies like Quantum Of Solace, The Spy Who Loved Me, Live And Let Die, A View To A Kill, Goldfinger and Casino Royale and others. They cost anywhere from $60 to $235. I guess you can always have weapons and gadgets put in after you purchase them. You might as well take over the world in style. Meanwhile the villains from Austin Powers get no respect. Where are their watches?
