Stuart Hughes is known for their gold, platinum, diamond, and crystal encrusted gadgets. But how do you up the ante on those precious gems? You use a material that dates back to 65 million years. This one was conceived by his wife, Katherine Hughes.

It’s the iPhone 4 History Edition, the world’s first Dinosaur mobile phone. It uses a tooth of a 65 million year old T-REX and meteor stone together to dress up the rear of the iPhone. The rim is caked with 8.5ct ‘IF’ flawless diamonds and a diamond studded Apple logo set in platinum on the tooth and stone rear.

iPhone 4 Cases in Crocodile Skin and White Gold

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on July 11th, 2010

Forget fancy Swarovski studded iPhone cases. Crocodile skin with white gold is the way to go. Or maybe a Stingray polished or python skinned iPhone 4 case? Apparently each of these is available from a site called MJ Apple iPhone Limited Edition.

Yes, that name sounds pretty shady. But if this is your sort of thing, these are all limited editions. Apparently they ship from Russia and you will have to email or call to ask about price and availability, so you know it’s expensive.

$19K pen with watch parts that don’t work

Posted in Watches by Conner Flynn on October 22nd, 2008

$19K pen with watch parts that don’t workBehold. Now you know what A-hole bankers use to sign checks back and forth to each other. It’s called the 1010, a limited edition 18k gold pen from Swiss company Caran d’Ache. The idea is that this piece is to “celebrate the special genius of watchmakers.” It gets the 1010 name because of the look of a watch’s hands at that time of day or night. This expensive and ludicrously fancy update to the feathered quill pen doesn’t even have working gears. Those gears are all non-working, making this an expensive ruse with another ruse.

Some other allusions to timepieces include the clip that looks like a watch hand, the decorative balance wheel mounted between two rubies under a sapphire dome, and then there’s the tiny tick marks etched around its barrel. It even has a ruby-studded piston pump to move the ink from its interior to its nib. That’s right I said nib.

That’s right, now that your golden parachute has landed you safely in your mansion where the villagers can’t burn you with their torches it’s time to lose yourself in some quiet music and dream up another scam.

Good thing the new iPod Touch and 4th gen Nano come in 24ct and 18ct white gold now. The Nano starts at £349 while the second generation Touch starts at £449. Now where did that diamond studded USB drive get to? Ah, of course. It’s on your Swarovski encrusted crapper next to your blinged out TP holder.

192 GB Gresso wearable pendantGadgets becoming jewelry is getting more common and why shouldn’t it? It makes toting around our gadgets that much easier. But making it look halfway decent to look at and still be functional is the trick. The Gresso wearable pendant manages to do it right. It houses a whooping 192 GB USB, carved out of 200-year-old African wood.

It’s a nice departure from the usual Swarovski studded piece. In three angles, it houses three 64 GB USB drives. Sadly for the ladies wanting one, it is limited to just 99 pieces being manufactured. The Gresso ENIGMA comes in two different styles. The star shaped “Constellation” and triangular ” Labyrinth”. Each comes with a strap for wearing as a jewelery pendant. The price is 5000 Euros.

Elements Stardust Radio with Swarovski bling

Posted in Radio by Conner Flynn on September 17th, 2008

Elements Stardust Radio with Swarovski blingThere’s no shortage of devices sprinkled with Swarovski crystals. Unfortunately, most are so smothered with bling that they just look tacky. The Elements Stardust Radio is actually done up right, with just the right ratio of bling and device. It actually looks nice.

It’s a Sonoro musical player that has been covered with 3,900 Swarovski crystals in a white floral pattern against a background of black crystals. It features 10 preset AM/FM stations, iPod/notebook/PMP compatibility as well as an integrated alarm clock. Hopefully we can close the “Crap me up with Swarovski” chapter on this high note, but somehow I doubt it.
