Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on May 4th, 2011

Well, we knew it was coming and sure enough, Nintendo just made it official. They will cut the retail price of the Wii down to $149.99, and will also include a copy of Mario Kart and the Wii Wheel peripheral with the console.

You’ll also get 1080 degree wheel rotation and fully adjustable pedals configurable for floor mounted (F1-style) and suspended (GT-style) positions. It’s scheduled for a late December or mid January release, depending on your location and it will cost you $599.99.

JBL On Air Wireless dock hits the FCC

Posted in iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 21st, 2010

The FCC has recently looked at the On Air Wireless dock from JBL. This device is the company’s first AirPlay-capable speaker dock. On Air Wireless will allow users to play from a docked iPhone or iPod, and also push audio over a Wi-Fi connection. It will also be compatible with your iPad or computer. All while looking like a toy steering wheel.

The device features a generous LCD display located on the dock that displays the current time, track info or FM radio station. We don’t know when this dock will arrive, but we will likely be seeing it at CES next month.

GoSmart Clip mounts your iPhone to your steering wheel

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 5th, 2010

Even though it isn’t a good idea to use your smartphone while driving, we sure come up with many ways to do just that. The key is to make it convenient and safe and practical to do so. The GoSmart clip holds your iPhone without compromising the touch screen, while an elastic watch strap allows you to secure it on the steering wheel, freeing your hands for safe driving.

It’s also compatible with all current generation PDAs or iPhones. The GoSmart clip sells for $39.95 at Amazon and appears to be well worth it if it makes you safer.

MyFord Touch and Sync hands on

Posted in Automotive by Shane McGlaun on July 26th, 2010

Last week I spent a couple days with Ford in Dearborn, Michigan checking out the new MyFord Touch and Sync system that will debut first in the 2011 Edge SUV. This very cool system allows the driver to customize the view on the instrument panel to suit whatever their focus is.

The MyFord Touch system on the 2011 Edge has a large analog tach in the center of the cluster with two smaller 4.2-inch LCD screen on each side. Using the dual D-pad controller located on each side of the steering wheel you can move through all manner of gauges and information related to the entertainment, navigation, and climate controls of the vehicle. The system also has a larger 8-inch touchscreen in the dash that shows navigation and other items.

Racing game for iPad uses iPhones as controllers

Posted in iPad by Conner Flynn on April 30th, 2010

With Padracer your gaming console is an iPad as a display and iPhones as controllers. How cool is that? Though if you don’t already own these things, it could get a bit expensive for you. Basically the iPad is the race track and the iPhones are turned into controllers once connected via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

All you have to do is steer your race cars by turning an iPhone like a steering wheel. The game is just five bucks at the iTunes store.

Spiderpodium iPhone holder

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on March 14th, 2010

The iPhone has cases, stands, docks and apps galore, but until now it has never had eight legs. The Spiderpodium won’t allow your iPhone to scurry away from you like a spider, but it will hold your device on eight bendable spider-like legs.

You can bend the legs to hold your iPhone on various surfaces, maybe even the handlebars of your bike, or on your steering wheel, though we don’t recommend it. The Spiderpodium is available for preorder for £14.99 ($23) and it will be available on March 29th. Should be pretty useful.

Wi-Fi detecting bumper sticker

Posted in Wi-Fi by Conner Flynn on February 1st, 2010

This Wi-Fi detecting bumper sticker will let you and other drivers know instantly when Wi-Fi is available. That way you can quickly set up your laptop on your steering wheel and tell everyone on Twitter about it.

Want to create one yourself and distract drivers behind you? Instructables shows you how. And it’s pretty simple. Basically you will be buying one of those Wi-Fi T-shirts, and then cutting out the electroluminescent panel to stick onto the back of your car. Simple. Pretty nifty.

Steering Wheel Bluetooth MP3/FM Car Kit

Posted in Bluetooth by Conner Flynn on January 19th, 2010

This isn’t the first Bluetooth Steering wheel attachment that we’ve seen, but the Steering Wheel Bluetooth MP3/FM Car Kit is a good idea to keep your hands free, thus keeping you a tad safer.

The device features Bluetooth, wireless audio, and functions just like a wireless headset. It even plays MP3s and can broadcast them to your car’s speakers using its FM transmitter.

Swivel Car Tray, juicebox not included

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on January 12th, 2010

Tired of having your food fly everywhere after you make a sudden turn? Worry no more. You are a large human mammal who needs to eat at all times, even when behind the wheel of a two ton killing machine. Thankfully some comapnies understand this and even encourage your gluttony with new products.

The Swivel Car Tray parks in your cupholder and allows you to shovel food from it’s built in tray to your hungry Jabba mouth while you roam the commuter wastelands looking for your next caloric adventure.

Helix gaming grip turns your iPhone / iPod touch into a Tie-Fighter

Posted in iPhone Accessories by Conner Flynn on December 29th, 2009

Chances are that the current iPhone and iPod touch steering wheels still don’t have your attention. Maybe PosiMotion’s recently announced Helix gaming grip will be the one for you. It’s ideal for “virtually any game,” and as a bonus, it puts your device into the cockpit of a mini Tie-Fighter.

The Helix will house your iPhone or iPod touch in either portrait or landscape mode, with a “grip-enhancing” soft-touch coating to keep your hands from slipping.

Xercise bike for Wii lets you get fit while gaming

Posted in gaming accessories by Shane McGlaun on December 10th, 2009

xercisebike-sbGo to any elementary or middle school today and you will see right away that many kids today are obese. I like my video games as much as the next person, but kids need to run and play too so they can get some exercise. The Fun Xercise Bike for the Wii has debuted to help kids get fit while they play games.

The folding bike has a steering wheel attachment connected to it for inserting the Wii remote for games like Mario Kart. Apparently, the pedals have nothing to do with the game and the user doesn’t have to pedal to get the kart to go on screen.

Wii Football accessory is real

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on September 20th, 2009

Wii Football accessory is realNow when you throw your Wiimote at the TV, you can do so in style. This plastic football accessory might even make Madden sell better on the Wii. It comes from CTA Digital, the company behind the Wii bowling ball and iPhone steering wheel. They are no strangers to weird accessories.

This Football for your Wii opens up to hold your Wiimote and the face buttons of your controller are on top of the football. It’s compatible with Madden 10, Madden 09 All-Play, NCAA Football 09 All-Play, and several other football games.

Laptop Steering Wheel Table

Posted in Automotive by Conner Flynn on September 1st, 2009

Laptop Steering Wheel Table is a bad ideaUsing your laptop while driving a car is pretty difficult and not very safe for you or your victims. Now this Laptop table for your steering wheel is obviously not meant to be used while driving, but there are always a few idiots out there who will do it. As for those morons, we can only hope that they crash into a tree as they twitter about typing while behind the wheel.

Idiots aside, this is actually great for the traveling businessperson who always has to stay connected. It’s also handy for parking your food and eating in the car. Hell, if you had to you could probably change a kids diaper on this thing instead of driving to a restaurant rest room. So for $23 it’s pretty useful as long as you aren’t an idiot.
