You need only two qualifications to own this nerd-gasmic Raygun. A love of Steampunk and some serious money to burn. The WETA Steampunk Raygun will cost you around $6,000. Dr Grordbort’s Rayguns are a line of 1:1 scale antique styled, limited edition(only 50 units), sci-fi hand weapon props. Above you can see “The Unnatural Selector”.

I’m not one to have weapons on display, but I’d proudly display this geektastic piece of eye-cady. See, this is what WETA is doing when they aren’t making big screen magic in Lord of the Rings. It’s made from metal, glass and rare Venusian Worm Oak. This my friends is some serious Steampunk. No really, this kicks the ass of every other Steampunk thing.

Forget about your sleek iPhones and your Samsungs and Nokias. Here’s a phone you can rock like it’s 1899. This steampunk phone is a prototype by Arthur Schmitt, a modern day Londoner, not a Londoner from Victorian times.

It sports a wire cover over the earpiece, period gauges, visible screws, a spinning number-counter and more. Perhaps the coolest detail is that it uses punch cards and binary phone numbers to control the phone’s features and make calls. Now that’s progress that makes phonebooks look like rolodex’s. “Can you hear me through me amazingly thick mustache now?”

If you love Steampunk, then you’ll love Haruo Suekichi’s creations. He’s has lost count on just how many pieces he has created, but an estimate is around 6000-7000. They are made primarily with brass and leather and each is unique. They go well with bowler hats and canes, handlebar mustaches, and frilly shirts. If Haruo Suekichi lived during Jules Verne’s time, he would have made watches for him. Haruo Suekichi has been at it for 13 years and now he’s showing an interest in creating antique fountain pens to go with the rest of your Victorian theme.

We’ve seen our share of steampunk, but never Bluetooth. Nicrosin’s Victorian-style Bluetooth device should be mass produced and powered solely by winding. He makes his creations from sculpey and watch parts, then lines it with leather for comfort. Though it still looks like it will eat your ear. The prop is fully adjustable and flexible and if you find yourself in a Steampunk alternate reality, you just might be able to use this baby to call your favorite Steampunk droid.

This Steampunk creation is pretty cool. There’s just so much of it that you have no wrist left and it looks like it would give you carpal tunnel syndrome and make one arm look like a weight lifter while the other is thin and geek-like. Sure is a lot of leather work around the metal flip-open watch.

It does have a certain authentic antique look about it. And I can’t tell you what the whole finger strap is about because my translation skills aren’t up to it. My guess is that you wear this while riding your bicycle and when you see a pretty lady, you activate a bell with your finger that dings, letting the Victorian hottie know that you noticed. Then one day they’ll invent the bicycle bell and your wrist can be free.

The Casio G-Shock G8100A-5 is a watch with typical modern features, while at the same time sporting a vague ‘antique’ design. Obviously Casio doesn’t want to miss out on the steampunk market. It’s got a bronze colored aluminum face and perforated resin band and a price tag of $99.

Even though this watch is only barely steampunk, it has a bunch of features like, auto dual electroluminescent backlights with ‘afterglow’, world time with 29 time zones and automatic daylight savings adjustments, 2 multi-function alarms, snooze alarm, timer that can countdown 1 minute to 24 hours, stopwatch, and it’s shock and water resistant to 200 meters. Not a bad watch if you want to look only slightly steampunk.

The Datamancer Archbishop PC case mod is different from most case mods that we’ve seen. It has an entirely overwhelming religious theme. I t’s probably pretty heavy as well since it was made out of stained glass. Interestingly, this project was nearly destroyed by a California earthquake, proving that God and the devil really do fight and that anyone building a religious case mod ends up in the middle. I’m guessing it sends you straight to hell if it catches you looking at porn.

This steampunk mouse definitely looks like a tank. It’s a Russian built tank/mouse and actually looks like the kind of steampunk tank that Russia might have constructed.

Having began life as a plain black mouse, it’s all brass and leather now. It even has little porthole type windows. The modder even went so far as to pimp the usb connection to match, which is a nice touch. I don’t think you could use it comfortably, but this thing is probably better turned into an RC steampunk tank anyhow.

I can’t think of anything better or more creepy then this mask for your next Halloween. If I saw this face ask me for candy I’d slam the door shut and look around for Hellboy. Also great for those into bondage and S&M. It’s based on a real Soviet era mask and made from leather and brass. Pretty good work of art. I doubt very much that it still functions as an actual gas mask. It will however instill fear into all those who see it. So, basically if you own this you can’t help but become a bad guy and take over the world.

Sheds are not gadgets, but sheds do house and hold many of our gadgets. Over at an interesting site called Readers Sheds they like to showcase all kinds of sheds.

One that comes up again and again is the Tardis. They have literally appeared everywhere throughout the UK. Apparently these sheds are also capable of being bigger on the inside and get frequently attacked by Daleks.

Here’s what you get when a mad scientist from the 19th century creates a droid. The only thing missing is C3PO in a gentleman’s suit and bowler. It was made by Deviant Art user Amoebabloke, who has mad droid modding talent.

It’s got to be one of the cooler steampunk projects I’ve seen. In fact I want this droid to have it’s own show, solving crimes in Victorian London, meeting Jack the Ripper etc. Have my people call your people.

The tardis is flying out of out control. It was driven off course by an unknown force. Finally it lands. Ah, 19th century London. As you exit the door, you’re pleased to see that it all looks about right…Until you see one of these. Then another. And another. Something is very wrong with this time-line. But even as your brain processes the danger, you can’t help but admire the workmanship. You notice it has wheels, so they won’t be climbing any stairs again. Nothing else to do, but go have your adventure.

Can you believe this thing? It’s a model from Alex Holden. He modded the hell out of a bottle of Dalek bubble bath to create this beauty, adding all kinds of detail.

Whether it’s marriage by shotgun or just a pat on the back, you can’t do much better then getting this beautiful steampunk clock as a gift. It beats the hell out of a toaster or a blender. The father spent weeks working on the clock, which is walnut with brass and other metals.

He did a pretty good job considering that the son only recently introduced him to the whole steampunk thing. Plus the guy is grade A crazy in a good way like Doc Emmett Brown. He wanted to wear a steam-punk suit to the wedding, but his wife wouldn’t let him. It’s made by Diversified Artistic Designs (D.A.D.).

If Flash Gordon had a laptop, this would be his preferred USB memory. It’s the creation of a crazy modder over in Russia and it’s full of retro steampunk shininess, hand crafted from polished brass and copper, with a lot of attention to detail. He got all of it just right.

Which makes me wonder why no company has yet taken advantage of the whole steampunk thing and started mass producing usb memory like this. They could move a ton of items. Geeks like me would eat it up. I shouldn’t have to rely on a modder from Russia for my usb needs, that’s all I’m saying.

Jake Von Slott has created a Steampunk PC design that is sure to be gold with DIY steampunk enthusiasts. He took a huge 24 inch LCD monitor and crammed an entire CPU behind it and the design still looks awesome. If you want to do it yourself, you’ll have to trim of all the excess plastic and get the monitor in a nice rectangular shape. The entire Monitor/CPU assembly sits on an ornate frame that Jake made from a shelf from the dump.

It’s all super ornate. The fan of this computer is even decorated in a neat mesh. Of course everything inside is very un-steampunk. It’s got a state-of-the-art Intel pentium-4 chipset and all the bells and whistles.
