The Timekeeper Steampunk PC

Posted in Desktop PCs by Conner Flynn on November 29th, 2010

The Steampunk PC looks like it belongs in Doctor Who’s Tardis. Or on your great grandfather’s mantle. It looks like an old victorian clock on the outside but inside it is packing an Athlon 64 Dual Core 4400+ CPU, 160GB Hitachi SATA Hard Drive and 2GB of DDR2 / PC 800 RAM.

The finish on the case is a nice dark one and it even comes complete with a skeleton clock. The Timekeeper will cost you $1099 and ships from the land of the rising sun.

Posted in USB Flash Drives by Conner Flynn on April 30th, 2010

When we buy a new USB flash drive, we should get a prize. You know, like in a cereal box or Cracker Jacks. When we buy a new drive, we should get a game. Patriot has announced that its Xporter USB flash drive now comes bundled with the zero gravity first-person shooter, Shattered Horizon game.

This bundle will come with a Steam download code that allows users to download and install the game. You can Choose from 8GB and 16GB USB flash drives right now, though future Patriot products will also include a copy of the Shattered Horizon game.

Steampunk PC is cool and not my style

Posted in Computers,Concepts by Shane McGlaun on March 19th, 2010

I like Steampunk stuff mostly because the things look cool and I can appreciate how long it would take to build some of these designs. That said you would never find steampunk gear in my house. I like my tech to look like tech, not something I might find in grandma’s attic.

A new steampunk computer with some serious attention to detail has turned up over on Yanko Design. The thing is the complete deal with a cool looking tower thingy that might be a speaker, a keyboard, mouse pad, mouse, and a display. The keyboard is my favorite part.

Industrial Double iPod Dock

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on March 18th, 2010

This has got to be one of the ugliest iPod docks we’ve ever seen. Obviously it’s made from some rusty old electrical industrial parts. The product page says it will make a great engagement or wedding present. But that’s only true if you’re a redneck.

But hey, it does support two Apple devices instead of one. It’s compatible with any generation of the iPod or iPhone and even the Nano. Do you want one?

Retro Philco PC concept

Posted in Concepts by Conner Flynn on December 14th, 2009

Retro Philco PC concept This concept looks like it came out of the 1950s, while it would also look at home in the Jetson’s home of the future. This retro Philco PC concept is designed by SchultzeWORKS design studio. The moment you see it you easily spot all of the retro design elements from 50′s televisions, typewriters, etc.

It’s just plain sexy and classy. Sure, it has Windows 7, but we don’t even care. We are too in love with the design. The keyboard alone is drool-worthy.

Damnation steampunk PC

Damnation steampunk PCNormally, if you want to own a steampunk work of art like this, you have to make it yourself. It’s called the Telecalculograph Mk II and was created by artist Jake Hildebrandt using a cutting edge PC. What if I told you that this beauty could be yours?

It’s being given away to promote the new steampunk game Damnation. If you want a chance at owning this baby, all you have to do is create a video, picture, or art installation that shows your undying love of steampunk. That should be easy, right? This Steampunk PC will be your reward.

Steampunk Brewery PC casemod is awesome

Posted in DIY by Conner Flynn on April 16th, 2009

Steampunk Brewery PC casemod is awesomeThis Russian antique brewery PC case mod is awesomely steampunk and completely over-the-top. It’s hard to find the words to describe such a beast. Apparently this thing can fill your mug with beer. Though we have no idea how it works.

Steampunk, beer, modding…What’s not to love? And it’s been outfitted with plenty of lights so the party never has to stop. This is the way to do a project. A mod just isn’t a mod unless the endgame is serving beer.

Victorian skeleton key USB drives for your Steampunked PC

Posted in USB by Conner Flynn on April 7th, 2009

Victorian skeleton key USB drives for your Steampunked PCDesigned by Alissia Melka-Teichroew for AMT Studio, these vintage looking skeleton key USB drives go perfectly with your steampunk PC. They are ceramic encased memory sticks made to look like old Victorian era keys.

They hold either 2GB or 4GB. As well as using them with all your steampunk computers, they also add some style to your modern computer as well. Pretty clever idea.

Datamancer’s ergonomic Steampunk keyboard

Posted in Keyboards by Conner Flynn on November 3rd, 2008

Datamancer’s ergonomic Steampunk keyboardDatamancer has done it again and this one looks like it would be pretty comfortable to use. It’s got the usual brass, wood and classic typewriter keys, along with some other really super details. Like some violet LEDs, an acanthus-leaf pattern etched into the brass, and a soft burgundy wrist pad that is removable for cleaning. It began life as a very rare but plain IBM Model M-15 split ergonomic keyboard, but as you can see, it looks much better now.

Datamancer Archbishop PC case mod

Posted in Cases by Conner Flynn on August 11th, 2008

Datamancer Archbishop PC case modThe Datamancer Archbishop PC case mod is different from most case mods that we’ve seen. It has an entirely overwhelming religious theme. I t’s probably pretty heavy as well since it was made out of stained glass. If you or your Neighbor Ned Flanders should want to buy this Gothic and holy case mod, you can check out the Steampunk art show at the Hamptons Antique Galleries in Bridgehampton, NY between August 16th until August 24th, 2008.

Interestingly, this project was nearly destroyed by a California earthquake, proving that God and the devil really do fight and that anyone building a religious case mod ends up in the middle. I’m guessing it sends you straight to hell if it catches you looking at porn.

Dad gives son Steampunk Clock as wedding gift

Dad gives son Steampunk Clock as wedding gift
Whether it’s marriage by shotgun or just a pat on the back, you can’t do much better then getting this beautiful steampunk clock as a gift. It beats the hell out of a toaster or a blender. The father spent weeks working on the clock, which is walnut with brass and other metals.

He did a pretty good job considering that the son only recently introduced him to the whole steampunk thing. Plus the guy is grade A crazy in a good way like Doc Emmett Brown. He wanted to wear a steam-punk suit to the wedding, but his wife wouldn’t let him. It’s made by Diversified Artistic Designs (D.A.D.).

Victorian all-in-one Steampunk PC

Victorian all-in-one Steampunk PC
Jake Von Slott has created a Steampunk PC design that is sure to be gold with DIY steampunk enthusiasts. He took a huge 24 inch LCD monitor and crammed an entire CPU behind it and the design still looks awesome. If you want to do it yourself, you’ll have to trim of all the excess plastic and get the monitor in a nice rectangular shape. The entire Monitor/CPU assembly sits on an ornate frame that Jake made from a shelf from the dump.

It’s all super ornate. The fan of this computer is even decorated in a neat mesh. Of course everything inside is very un-steampunk. It’s got a state-of-the-art Intel pentium-4 chipset and all the bells and whistles.

Vintage iPod tube amp & charger is retro awesome

Posted in Chargers,iPod,iPod Accessories by Conner Flynn on January 4th, 2008

Vintage iPod tube amp & charger

Here’s a great design if you dare to be different. The Vintage iPod Tube Amp/Charger has the cool somewhat steampunk/Sci-Fi look of a mad scientists lair. According to the manufacturer, you ca enjoy your playlists with the “warmth and richness only a vintage tube amplifier can provide”. I don’t know about that, but I love the design.

Many musicians believe that the harmonic richness and the pure tone of tube-based circuitry can’t be beat. That’s their thinking with this device. Just plug your iPod into the Vintage Amplifier/Charger, sit back with the included remote, and browse through your playlists. They claim that audio details that have been lost in MP3 files through compression, dramatically re-emerge through the 25 watts RMS per channel, all-tube pre-amp system. It will cost you a hefty $800 to find out if they are right. No doubt some of us don’t mind missing out on the differences we can’t hear anyway, at that price.

HTC Touch Smartphone Rivals iPhone

Posted in HTC,Mobile Phones,Smart Devices by Nino Marchetti on June 5th, 2007

HTC Touch Smartphone unveiled with features that could rival the iPhoneHTC is taking it to Apple’s upcoming iPhone with its debut today of the HTC Touch. This new mobile phone, like the name implies, has a touchscreen interface similar to Apple’s soon to be released product.

The HTC Touch, which will initially debut overseas, should find its way to American shores in the second half of this year. It makes use of “TouchFLO”, a technology HTC says it has been developing. TouchFLO reportedly lets consumers “simply sweep their finger up the display to launch an animated, three-dimensional interface.” …
