Minox unveils tiny Digital Spy Camera

Posted in Minox by Shane McGlaun on October 20th, 2008

Minox Digital SpyCamIn most of the spy movies I have seen, there are always some sort of secret documents that need to be photographed. When 007 needs to take pictures of secret files he doesn’t whip out a massive DSLR, he whips out a tiny spy camera like the Minox Digital SpyCam.

The tiny camera measures 3 3/8-inch x 1 3.16-inch x 7/8-inch and boasts a 5-megapixel resolution. Weight for the camera is a mere 2.1 ounces. Internal memory for the camera is 128MB and it accepts memory cards up to 16GB. The exact format of memory card used is a microSD card.

Motorola V70 handset spotted, looks retro
Apparently Motorola is upgrading the design on it’s V70 handset, with this new V70 Retro model. It’s been shy up until now, but is just making its first appearance thanks to CTI-Miami.com.

There aren’t many details aside from the fact that it has a 5-megapixel camera, and looks like a sort of flattened retro capsule when closed. It’s a different design which is refreshing. The model name is subject to change too. Hit the link for a few more pics.

Review: Wicked Lasers are truly wicked

Posted in Review by Darrin Olson on August 3rd, 2008

Review of Wicked Lasers Elite 125Wicked Lasers recently gave us the opportunity to check out one of their popular laser pointers, which gave us quite a surprise. Actually, before we received it we called it a laser pointer but not any more. Wicked Lasers assured us that it is not a laser pointer – it truly is a wicked laser, and we can’t disagree.

The sample product we received was from the Elite Series of green lasers, specifically the Elite 125. This laser appears to be around the middle of the road for the different lasers offered by Wicked Lasers. The average output power according to the company runs from 125mW to 149mW. They also have lasers in their catalog with as little as 50mW and as much as 300mW. The Elite 125 for us had plenty of power and made it very clear why this is not a laser pointer for regular presentations. For starters it would be difficult to see anything on a presentation screen because the light from the laser is way too bright, even from across a large room. Also, the crowd would be so distracted by what you’re using to point with they’d never pay attention to anything else you’re trying to show them.

Another cell phone disguised as cigarettes

Another cell phone disguised as cigarettesSomehow I don’t think Marlboro endorsed this, though I could be wrong. This cell phone in disguise is similar to the one we told you about in January. It will cost you about $175 in China. It’s got dualband GSM, a microSD card slot, and can even play MP3′s.

From the front, it looks like an authentic pack of Marlboro Lights and it will even hold real cigarettes in it. One cool function is the side-mounted camera feature. People will never suspect that you are taking pictures with your smokes. So it doubles as a spy camera too.

Getting geeky/freaky with Spy Camera Sunglasses

Posted in Glasses by Nino Marchetti on March 17th, 2008

geek-sunglasses.jpgYou too can now look cool and geeky as you cruise down the road on your favorite moped. All it takes is these new 1.3 Megapixel Spy Camera Sunglasses, available through ThinkGeek for around $100.

The 1.3 Megapixel Spy Camera Sunglasses can help you snap photos of that hot model in the Porsche next to you at the stoplight. The 1.3-megapixel lens is embedded in part of front of the frame, and she’ll never know you are shooting photos as you stare with drool apparent. She may think you are a bit creepy though, dusting you when the light turns green.

EyeClops gives your kid night vision

EyeClops gives your kid night vision
Kids today have much cooler toys then we had when I was growing up. Take the EyeClops for example. It basically gives your kid some for real high-tech spy cred. Even kids can be James Bond these days, with some amazing gear.

This isn’t just your typical crappy flashlight attached to a helmet, not at all. It uses an infrared imager and LCD monocle which will let you spy on others in even the darkest of settings. You can even get an EyeClops BioniCam if you want to take pictures, which is the same thing, but with a digital camera. Both retail for $80 when they hit stores this fall. Just make sure your kid doesn’t catch you doing anything you don’t want seen. Blackmail sucks.

Tie Spy Camera makes spying look dorky

Tie Spy Camera makes spying look dorky

…At least that’s the impression one gets from the picture of the guy wearing it, on the product site. Apparently the Tie Spy makes you wear dark sunglasses and pretend you are a G-Man. A G-Man with a tacky tie who stands out like…Well, like an overly happy dork with a surveillance device in his tie.

They claim that the camera in this tie is the world’s smallest color pinhole camera. But then again they also claim that this tie is fashionable. You can record exactly what you see while wearing it. No external power is needed, since it just connects directly with an included MP4 player. Some of the specs on the MP4 player include: 512MB Memory with the ability to get 1GB using an SD card. 2.5 Inch TFT OLED display, with a resolution of 320×240. Even with the MP4 player thrown in, this tie still probably won’t make you feel like James Bond. Who knows, you might get some dirt on a co-worker, but more likely you’ll just collect videos of your walk to work. From your tie’s point of view of course.

Finger-sized Canon Snap camera concept

Posted in Canon,Concepts,Digital Cameras by Reuben Drake on October 22nd, 2007

Canon Snap concept cameraThis concept design by David Münscher is what Yanko Design describes as a “Stalker’s Dream” and consists of a tiny camera small enough to be worn around one finger and take pictures with “high quality optics”. The spy-like camera has a single button to aim and snap photos requiring on a couple of fingers and creating a very discrete shooter. It’s hard to say if something this small could become a reality in the near future while still providing “high quality” shots, but like most of the concepts we just like it because it looks cool. If they actually get it to work, why that’s just a bonus!

Palm Centro launched with Sprint as a lighter and cheaper alternative to the TreoToday Palm announced the release of the Palm Centro, bringing the many circulating spy shots of the “Palm Gandolf” phone into a legitimate reality. The Centro is a non-Treo smartphone targeting those that might like the Treo-type phones but want something that’s not quite so business oriented.

The Palm Centro running on Sprint’s speedy EvDO 3G network is scheduled to launch in October with Sprint being the original carrier, and the exclusive carrier for the first 90 days. It comes in colors of a loud red or black and in a relatively small, curved package measuring 4.2 inches x 2.1 inches x 0.7 inch thick and weighing only 4.2 ounces.

More Than Meets the Eye

Spy Shot 6 Transformers as a cameraIn one month the mega-budget live-action “Transformers” movie will finally be upon us. Some are already calling it the biggest movie of the summer even though “Spider-Man 3” and the new “Pirates of the Caribbean” are making oodles of money at theaters right now.

Hasbro, the owners of the toy line that started the whole thing off, are cashing in on the buzz surrounding the movie by releasing not just a line of movie tie-in toys but also a wave of mini-Transformers that harken back to the days when all Transformers …
