Space Invaders get all PC with Space Intruderz lamps
I never expected that the Space Invaders would go all Politically Correct, but hell everyone else has. Probably the head Invader realized that for like almost forty years now, the invasion hasn’t exactly been working,(Merchandise aside) so they needed a new image. Invaders sounds so cold, no one likes an invasion. Intruderz is pretty much the same, but less formal, not as cold and ruthless. But the truth is I don’t think Taito knows about it. shhhhh.

I’m not telling them either, because I love these little guys. They retail for about $48 or so, and they are the perfect gift for any gamer who grew up watching these guys when they still invaded.

Mysterious Firefox crop circle appears

Mysterious Firefox crop circle appears
Some strange things are happening on this planet. Are we being visited by a superior intelligence? How can one possibly explain the mysterious images that have appeared recently? First there was the Firefox logo spotted in deep space. Then things started to hit closer to home. This ominous design appeared out of nowhere recently. Now we have the latest message pictured above. What does it all mean? My theory is that it’s an intelligence test sent by beings who are far superior to us.

Think about it. All intelligent creatures love Space Invaders, just as any intelligent creature would use Firefox over IE. I think we are safe as long as some drunk idiot in a field doesn’t send them a response by way of a Windows Vista logo. If that happens, we can kiss our gadget-lovin behinds goodbye.

Shop for groceries, play some Atari

Shop for groceries, play some Atari
Clean up on isle six, I just kicked your ass at Missile Command. How cool is this? This Milwaukee, Wisconsin grocery store has an atari section, where you can hang out and play, complete with period TV, wallpaper and furniture. It’s a great way to get the guys to do the shopping, I’ll say that.

The display includes a fully-functional Atari 2600(Newer black version), and a nice assortment of about 50 classic games just waiting to be stolen. Looks like the only detail from my childhood that they missed is having my mom stand there nagging me while I’m trying to play Space Invaders. Otherwise, it’s like being there. Note to the employees: That plant fails to hide the cords.

Play classic arcade games in spreadsheets

Play classic arcade games in spreadsheets
Normally, you could use Microsoft Excel to create that business model for your next multi-million dollar idea, or you could calculate last month’s sales for your other business, but I think the thing to do would be to play classic arcade games on it. Games should always win over business.

If you live in Japan, programming video games using Excel Visual Basic macros is kind of an art form. People over there have recreated everything from Pac-Man to Space Invaders and Missile Command. With nice detail I might add. How about a spreadsheet game of Donkey Kong, Dig Dug and Tetris? Even Arkanoid.

multi_game_arcade.jpgMaybe the allure of owning a Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360 has worn off. Maybe you’re looking for something to take up the space in an empty corner of your rec room, something that will light up the eyes of your friends and remind them of the golden age of video games. Maybe you’re looking for the Multigame Tabletop Arcade Machine.

This funky and retro machine is made to resemble the classic sit down arcade games from the 1980s but instead of hosting just one game the MultiGame comes loaded with 48 of your old favorites. Games like Zaxxon, Arkanoid, Dig Dug, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Qix, Galaga, the whole Pac-Man family of games and dozens of others are packed on the circuitboards of this baby. The unit has a 20-inch screen, each side has its own joystick and multiple buttons and the tempered glass table top is strong enough for you to rest your frosty mug of suds on. There is even a coin op slot in case you really want to go old school and remember what it was like to dump your allowance into one of these quarter eaters.

Back Off Door Mat with Space InvadersThe retro video game era lives on with this must-have item for anyone old enough to remember spending hours (and your allowance) blasting away outer space bugs lined up in rows.

La Tête Au Cube brings to you the Space Invaders doormat, and that’s right kids, it has a built-in LED screen that features the same pixel-shaped alien attackers from the classic arcade game marching left and right above the spot where your guests wipe their feet. The mat measures 24” by 16” and is made from rubberized plastic. The …
