Nintendo to introduce Wii successor at E3?

Posted in Wii by Conner Flynn on March 16th, 2011

The Nintendo 3DS launches next week and now there are rumors that the company may focus on a replacement for the Wii. Frank Gibeau, label head at EA Games, said in a chat with IndustryGamers that he was aware of a follow-up coming. The device is unknown and wasn’t confirmed, but it is a fair bet that it will have have HD support, rivaling competitors from Microsoft and Sony.

Nintendo has been one of the most conservative console makers especially during this generation of console. The Wii was mostly built using faster but nearly identical processors as the GameCube. The company has often refused to discuss the possibility of a next-gen console as long as sales continued to dominate, but sales are not what they once were and it would seem that the time is right.

The CLM-V55 can be attached to most interchangeable lens cameras and compatible HD camcorders with an auto-lock accessory shoe or ISO shoe using an adapter (which Sony bundles). It can be connected to other devices as well via an HDMI port and is capable of tilting and swiveling.

The trailers appeared to have been stolen while they were parked and the driver was away. One had a Nebraska license plate, the other was from Ontario. If you see either-who are we kidding? You will be too busy playing Black Ops to care.

Sony has been selling a 320GB PS3 bundled with a Move controller, PlayStation Eye, and Sports Champions for $400, but now the 320GB model will soon be available all by itself. Great for those of us who hate to move around. At only $50 more, the bundle with the Move paraphernalia is a great deal though.

Sony says they are shipping the new standalone SKU to stores right now so keep an eye out for it and a spare $350.

Move sales around 1.5 million in Europe, 300K estimated for US

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on October 17th, 2010

Sony’s PlayStation Move motion controller is definitely moving across Europe. Sony Europe’s Andrew House noted “very significant sales” for the Move, saying that it has sold “somewhere in the region of 1.5 million units for the new controller across just Europe.” Sales have exceeded Sony’s original hopes, so it looks like the company will likely increase production of the peripheral.

Sales may not be as great in America, however. In a report released to the media, Wedbush Morgan’s Michael Pachter estimated that the motion controller sold roughly 300,000 units in its US debut. That includes Move console bundles; though SCEA has not released official sales figures yet.

500GB PlayStation 3 coming, with new Wi-Fi, Move

Posted in PS3 by Conner Flynn on June 14th, 2010

An “industry source” speaking with games site CVG, says that Sony will release two new PS3 bundles this year, both including the PlayStation Move motion controller, and one of them featuring a huge 500 GB hard drive. One of the bundles will include a 250GB PlayStation 3 and the Move motion controller.

The other bundle will include a 500GB PlayStation 3 and the Move. That may be overkill. Then again, maybe Sony knows something we don’t. Maybe they have plans that take up a lot of space.
