Sony SRS-X1 Bluetooth SpeakerSony has released a new Bluetooth speaker to add to its vast offering with the SRS-X1. This model is boasted as waterproof allowing you to safely use it poolside, in your boat or even in the shower.

The SRS-X1 is a small sphere at just over 1.5 inches in diameter with a 5W output and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery giving it up to 12 hours of continuous play. As with standard Bluetooth, it has about a 30-foot range and also has a 3.5mm stereo jack if you want to connect it directly.

Sony Ericsson MBS-100 Bluetooth Speaker

Posted in Bluetooth,Sony Ericsson,Speakers by Reuben Drake on October 11th, 2007

Sony Ericsson MBS-100 Bluetooth speakerSony Ericsson is touting this portable speaker stating it “looks as good as it sounds”, which makes us worry a little bit about the “sound” part. The 100mm sphere can connect wirelessly from your mobile phone through the A2DP Bluetooth stereo audio profile allowing you to stream music saved on your phone directly to the speaker and share your sounds without wires.

The 1.5 watt speaker in the MBS-100 is powered by a rechargeable battery that gives it up to 5 hours of playback with as many hours of charge time, or 50 hours of standby. It also comes packaged with a charger and a carrying bag so people don’t think you have some rotting fruit you’re carrying around. The specs say it comes in a single color of black but the press kit photos seem to have a touch of brown to them.

Solar powered concept media player has Sony brand

Posted in Concepts by Shane McGlaun on October 1st, 2010

I like a nice concept product because it lets us have a glimpse at what the gadgets of the future might look like. I have no doubt that at some future date solar power will be the main means of powering all manner of electronic devices. Today isn’t that day though with solar panels that are generally unable to power much of anything quickly or for a long time without room for a very large solar panel.

A new concept media player has surfaced that has the Sony brand. It’s not an official Sony concept apparently and it is called the Eclipse. The Eclipse has a solar panel on the back that gathers all the power the thing needs to operate. It has integrated speakers and a touchscreen for viewing video content.

The phone also sports a 1.3 megapixel camera with 2.2 X digital zoom and a video recorder. Sadly it’s available only in black. You’ll get a sufficient 5 MB of memory with up to 2GB memory expansion with a M2 card.

Sony Ericsson intros round cellphone speaker

Sony Ericsson intros round cellphone speakerIt’s round. It’s a speaker. It’s from Sony Ericsson. I’ll be honest, I don’t get these cell phone speakers, but Sony Ericsson thinks that you will want the MS500, so you can share music with your friends and whatnot.

It’s exactly what it looks like, a round portable speaker that connects to your phone via Bluetooth to play your tunes wherever you happen to be. It can hang on your belt loop with the included strap, and has 5 hours of battery life. Tell me honestly dear reader, do any of you actually use these cell phone speakers? I don’t. I just don’t get it myself.

Sony Ericsson launched the T280 and T270 mobile phones sporting some styleBuilding on the appeal of the T610 mobile phone, Sony Ericsson today launched a couple of new candy bar handsets that throw a little more style into the business mix of mobile phones with the T270 and the T280.

Both 13mm thin pocket-sized handsets are basically the same aside from one of them featuring a 1.3 megapixel camera and the other does not. Launching a new mobile phone without a built-in camera is almost unheard of these days but Sony Ericsson says that the T270 model has the “all business” person in mind who just needs the essentials. With camera phones becoming more popular some corporations, including one I used to work for, has banned the use of mobile phones that have cameras built in. For those situations the T270 is well positioned.
