Sharp is ready to launch the LED AQUOS R5 Series in the Japanese market later this month. This LED TV features a DBXL/DVD burner, a digital TV tuner, USB recording, YouTube and Ethernet.

Both the 26-inch and 32-inch models feature an HD resolution (1366×768), while the 40-inch model has a Full HD resolution (1080p). It is available in 26-inch, 32-inch and 40-inch models. The Sharp LED AQUOS R5 Series will cost you 120,000 Yen ($1,499), 140,000 Yen ($1,749) and 180,000 Yen ($2,248).

The Sharp Free-Style AQUOS LC-20FEI portable TV comes with Wi-Fi connectivity built in. This 20-inch portable HDTV features a 1366 × 768 resolution with LED backlight capability, a 400,000:1 contrast ratio, a pair of 2W speakers and a USB HDD recording feature for the Wireless TV tuner. Impressive enough specs for you in a portable TV? Sounds great to us.

The Sharp Free-Style AQUOS LC-20FEI also features DLNA support that allows you to access, store and watch content from your home network. It comes in black, white and pink colors and will be launched in Japan this June.

LG has launched the LG LW4500 3D cinema TV series in South Korea and Europe. These LCD TVs offer brighter, sharper images at any angle. The lightweight and affordable glasses are battery free and certified flicker-free and come in a variety of colors and styles. Not that that helps much. No one likes to wear 3D glasses.

Other features of the LG LW4500 3D cinema TV series include a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio and DivX Plus HD support. It’s compatible with most multimedia files including MKV, AVI, TS, MP4, WMV HD, WMA, MP3 and AVCHD. The 32-inch LG LW4500 retails for 799 Euros ($1,136) and the 55-inch model retails for 1,899 Euros ($2,700).

Well, looks like Sharp has just unveiled a set much larger than the one you just bought. Then again, if you are the market for a new HDTV, this is going to be much larger than what your friends have too. Sharp’s 70″ AQUOS Quattron LED LCD TV, LC-70LE732U is the largest LCD television you can buy. If you can afford it that is.

Specs include full HD 1080p resolution, full-array LED backlighting, Quattron Quad Pixel Technology and Sharp AQUOS Advantage Live customer service. But that isn’t all you get. There is also built-in WiFi so you can watch on-demand movies via Netflix, VUDU and the like or apps like Facebook, Pandora and Twitter.

Sharp has unveiled the LE830 series for its Aquos Quattron HDTV lineup which includes models in 60, 53, 46 and 40 inches. All four come equipped with integrated Wi-Fi and have access to CinemaNow, Netflix and Vudu services.

They also sport the company’s proprietary quad-pixel technology which adds yellow pixels for deeper and brighter colors, making the HDTV brighter overall. It’s also DLNA certified so you can stream content from home networks and it has four HDMI ports. These are pretty nice looking since they are mostly screen.

Sceptre has just announced a new 42-inch 120Hz LED HDTV to its Galaxy Series. This wall mountable 42-inch LED HDTV features a 120Hz refresh rate that produces sharper and cleaner images. There’s also an equalizer setting, so you can fine tune the volume of the audio any way you like.

You’ll also get 5 HDMI ports, a USB port and a tempered glass swiveling stand. The Sceptre Galaxy Series 42-inch 120Hz LED HDTV is available at stores like Target, Sears, Amazon, and Kmart to name a few.

Sharp has a new 52-inch LED HDTV in its AQUOS line, the LC52LE700UN. The widescreen 52 incher supports full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, 4ms response time, 450 cd/m2 brightness and a viewing angle of 176 degrees.

You’ll also get the usual connectivity ports: four HDMI, USB, 2 components, 2 composite and a VGA PC. This TV also features AQUOS Net, Sharp’s internet service for games, weather reports and stocks etc. The Sharp AQUOS LC52LE700UN LED HDTV is now available for purchase for just under $2,000 if you like the specs.

Sharp has unveiled the LE600 and LE700 LED TV series. The LE600 comes in 32-inch, 40-inch and 46-inch sizes, while the LE700 has all of those plus a 52-inch model. Both the LE600 and LE700 series feature Full HD resolution, LED backlights, a contrast ratio of 4,000:1, Sharp’s “X-Gen Panel” with proprietary “Mega Contrast” and “Brilliant colour Processor” technology.

The Sharp LE700 beats the LE600 with a quick 4ms response time, four HDMI ports, and a USB port for playback of MP3 and JPEG files from a USB Flash drive.

Sharp just rolled out two new home theater racks in the AN-AR410 and the AN-AR510. The racks support 37″ – 42″ and 42″ – 52″ LCD TV’s.

Both racks are equipped with 3.1 channel surround sound, 3 x HDMI ports, 2 x Digital inputs and a digital amplifier which delivers an output of 485W. The AN-AR410 is priced at 90,000 Yen ($900), while the AN-AR510 sells for 100,000 Yen ($1000). Both units will be available in Japan starting June 10.

Mitsubishi just announced a whole bunch of new LCDs. DLPs too. The one that has us most interested is an 82-inch DLP for $4200. It isn’t just frakkin huge, it’s also equipped with “3D-ready viewing technology.”

With this baby you’ll be all ready to go whenever 3D content enters your home. It’s part of their 737 “home theater” TV line. The company also updated their soundbar-integrated LCD TVs, which start at $1800 for a 40-inch model up to to $3,300 for a 52-incher.

The nationwide switch from analog to digital broadcasts will be here before you know it. While the switch won’t affect most TV watchers in the U.S., there are some who are still not ready. As a result of old analog TVs not functioning after the switch, many have been upgrading to digital flat panel TVs. This has been one of the major factors pushing growth in the TV market.

DisplaySearch has released its quarterly reports on the number of TVs shipped worldwide for Q3 2008. Despite the poor economy, TV shipments grew by 11% quarter-over-quarter and 6% year-over-year. Over 53 million TVs were shipped worldwide in the quarter. Shipments in North America grew more than expected with a 12% increase compared to last quarter to 10 million units.

It truly is digital camera craziness this week with all of these new shooters flooding the market in time for the holidays. Another product announcement this week from Olympus comes in the form of two new FE-Series models – the FE-360 and FE-370, priced around $150 and $200, respectively.

The FE-360 and FE-370, both available now, are targeted towards entry-level shooters. Both offer eight-megapixels, image stabilization, face detection, shot previews and in-camera help guides, among other features. You can get full details after the jump.

JVC offered up earlier this week for consumer consumption some new high definition hard disk camcorders which deliver 1920×1080 recording. These are the JVC GZ-HD6 and GZ-HD5, priced at around $1,400 and $1,200 respectively.

The JVC GZ-HD6 and GZ-HD5 can record up to 10 hours or 5 hours respectively of “full HD 1920 x 1080 MPEG2 Transport Stream video with MPEG 1 Layer 2 audio.” They use three 1/5-inch CCDs to accomplish this, also featuring an F1.8-F1.9 10x zoom lens and 1080 progressive 60fps HDMI output.

Olympus this week unveiled a trio of new Stylus compact digital cameras which it says offer dual image stabilization, 2.7-inch LCDs and a feature called “Perfect Shot Preview.” These models are the Stylus 840, Stylus 1010 and Stylus 1020 and pricing will range between about $250 and $350.

Perfect Shot Preview, as described by Olympus, “enables users to preview and select various photographic effects on a live, multi-window screen before snapping the shot.” The Stylus 1010 and 1020 will both offer 10-megapixels of shooting ability, with the Stylus 840 chiming in at 8-megapixels.

Sharp towed to CES this week its usual interesting line up of cutting edge consumer electronics. A shining example of this is its AQUOS SE94 series flat panels which, among other features, are Internet-enabled. This particular family of Sharp televisions ranges in size from 46 to 65 inches and is priced between around $3,200 and $11,000.

The Sharp AQUOS SE94 series can, when connected to an Ethernet port, let you access a Sharp service which provides “customized Web-based content as well as real-time customer support directly on the AQUOS television.” The company, working with Web based content providers, says you’ll be able to configure widgets which let you get information like the local weather forecast as well as enjoy your favorite comic strip via your remote control.
