AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S II revealed

The folks over at BGR have obtained exclusive images of AT&T’s upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone, headed to AT&T. It sports the Galaxy S II model number, SGH-I927 and a slender build in spite of adding on a full sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The Galaxy S II is already the fastest-selling Samsung smartphone ever and it has yet to launch on any carrier in the U.S. Though U.S. carrier versions of the smartphone are expected to arrive in August, release and pricing for the AT&T version here is unknown. We also don’t know if it will launch with the Galaxy S II moniker or with AT&T’s own branding.

Some photos of the AT&T-bound Samsung SGH-i727 have surfaced. This is 80% of it. The rest of the phone had to be reconstructed with Photoshop. That’s why the perspective is off.

This phone has its Wi-Fi certification, but isn’t yet in the Bluetooth or FCC databases, so the i727 is probably still a few months from launching. It’s expected to be a mid-range handset when released. When we hear more we will let you know.

These days phones have invaded every aspect of our lives. However according to the experts at WHO, they emit radio-frequency waves which when absorbed by the human body prove harmful. The powers-that-be have come up with a standard called Specific absorption rate (SAR) and the FCC now requires cell phone makers to report the SAR level of their devices. The upper cap on acceptable levels is less than or equal to 1.6 watts per kilogram (W/kg).

Samsung Epix gets Windows Mobile 6.5 update

Samsung has released a new Windows Mobile 6.5 update for its Epix (SGH-i907) handset. This is strange because AT&T no longer sells this smartphone over its website. And a Samsung phone getting updated?

Samsung Galaxy i7500 users are still waiting for an Android 1.6 update, while Android 2.2 is already available for select handsets. Anyhow, strange as it is, you can download the software if you own the Epix. Which you probably don’t.

Samsung MyFit tells you to drink water, not to smoke

Samsung’s MyFit is a player for those who enjoy working out and keeping fit. The device has 8GB of space, the usual video codec support, an FM radio and it’s equipped with an accelerometer and a tracking system that tells you how many calories you’ve burned.

You can also record your caloric consumption per meal though a fitness manager application. Need to know when to drink water? It will tell you. It also has a function that will yell at you when you’re smoking.

Samsung B7610 Louvre spottedHere’s another new offering from Samsung. The B7610 Louvre. As far as design, it shares many similarities with the F700. Just look at the form factor and sliding QWERTY keyboard.

But this smartphone is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1. Aside from that, we don’t have many details. There is speculation that it will come with at least HSDPA connectivity as well as a 3.2 megapixel camera. It’s expected to make a July debut for an as yet unknown price. There’s nothing official at the moment.

Samsung Memoir

Samsung and T-Mobile officially let slip yesterday word of an upcoming 8-megapixel digital camera mobile. It is the new Memoir (SGH-t929) and there’s no official word yet on pricing or availability.

The Samsung Memoir, said the two companies, is designed to look and feel like a regular digital camera. It has a built-in flash, 16x digital zoom and five shooting modes. It is also said to be easy to share photos taken on it with others via direct postings to popular online photo sharing Web sites.

Samsung released the Samsung SGH-D780 Gold Plated Edition, now the official phone of Russia’s Olympic team. The D780 is a dual SIM phone, allowing you to have 2 GSM networks active at once without having to reboot your phone.

Some of the features of the Samsung D780 are: 2.0-megapixel camera, 2.1-inch QVGA TFT, FM Radio, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, 1200 mAh battery and a microSD slot supporting up to 2GB. The phone is already available in Russia of course.

Samsung unleashes TOUCHWIZ for the European Market
The Touchwiz a.k.a the SGH-F480, is obviously an iPhone wannabe from Samsung, featuring an improved and super user friendly UI controlled with your finger, and a 5Mp AF camera with auto focus and a CMOS video lens.

It sports 8GB or memory, and even an FM radio. The F480 makes use of a new and unique img4.gif UI, with specially designed widgets to customise and personalise the use of your phone. It’s a slick looking phone. Talk time is 3hrs. It will hit the European market shortly. Not sure when we’ll see this in the U.S.

Samsung SGH-a737Another day, another new sliding mobile phone. This time around AT&T and Samsung are teaming to reveal the Samsung SGH-a737, a slim and multi-color handset which will price at around $50 after your usual contract and rebate.

AT&T describes the SGH-a737 as “ultra-thin” and “entertainment accelerated.” What you’ve basically got here is a lightweight slider-style phone available in four color combos: black/orange, black/blue, black/red and black/lime. It’s got a lot of your typical bells and whistles, including a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, external microSD memory expansion and stereo Bluetooth 2.0 technology.
