Samsung rolled out today a couple of new ultra mobile personal computers to expand its line of Q1U models. These new configurations are known as the Q1UP-V and Q1U-CMXP, and both are priced around $1,500.

Samsung had this to say of the Q1UP-V and Q1U-CMXP, which are both available now. “The Q1U-CMXP maximizes connectivity with integrated 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 10/100 BaseTX, and an integrated HSDPA 3G cellular modem supporting the AT&T Broadband Connect network. With unsurpassed wired and wireless connection options, the Q1U-CMXP provides ubiquitous communications regardless of one’s location via the AT&T nationwide cellular network. In addition, the model boasts the same specifications as the industry standard Q1 Ultra XP model launched in May of 2007.

Samsung brought out at CES this week to showcase an upscale version of its popular UMPC line up. This latest high performance model is known as the Samsung Q1UP-XP and Samsung says it will be available for around $1,400.

The Samsung Q1UP-XP (Q1 Ultra Premium UMPC) has a seven-inch backlit LCD with is touch sensitive and has a native resolution of 1024 x 600. It’s powered by a 1.33GHz ULV Intel Core Solo U1500 Pentium CPU and offers up to 7.5 hours of battery life. It also features a split-QWERTY keyboard, 80GB hard drive and is based on the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition operating system.

We’ve seen some solid state drives announced but today Samsung is the company that was able to bring a 1.8″ 64GB solid state drive into mass production. The SSD is intended for use in UMPC’s, notebooks and other portable devices as a smaller, faster, lightweight replacement to traditional hard drives.

Drives using Flash-based memory promises to provide faster boot times to be quicker at pulling up applications since it can access the data faster. It also boasts a lower battery consumption compared to devices with spinning hard drives.

Today Samsung has officially announced the release of the Q1 Ultra UMPC in the US along with pricing, about a year after the introduction of the new Ultra Mobile PC product segment from Samsung along with Microsoft and Intel.

The Samsung Q1 Ultra will be available in a few different configurations with either a 600MHz or 800MHz Intel A100 processor, 1GB of memory, a 40GB or 60GB hard drive and either Vista Home or Windows XP Tablet OS, depending on the model. Pricing for the Q1 Ultra will range from an entry level $799 …
