Alright all you eggheads who can solve a Rubik’s Cube in like ten seconds. Here’s a harder challenge. Meet Bram’s Cube, created by the creator of BitTorrent, Bram Cohen. It offers more of a challenge by incorporating gears into the design.

It’s a two by two Rubik’s Cube, which seems like an easy puzzle to beat, but the gears add another layer of difficulty that is sure to be frustrating. I wouldn’t even know where to start with this thing. Sure you can align the blocks, but then the gears are all out of whack.

This kid is playing Guitar Hero on expert and solving two Rubik’s cubes simultaneously. Showoff! He goes by the handle of “JRefleX93″. And though he solves both cubes by the end of the video, he doesn’t hit every single note, but he hits more than you would have. With his elbow. In the end he has a 77% rating and his choice of nerd groupies.

This is six minutes of solid geek gold, until the end, when it fades to black and the kid gets too cocky letting out a groan that ruins the entire thing. But hey, props to this kid for six minutes of geek fun.

Remember that Rubik’s Touchcube that we told you about back in February? Looks like QVC has it first, so if you want to be the first on your block to get one, you better watch.

The touch sensitive, swipe-controlled cube will be available to buy on the Christmas in July segment this weekend. Instead of turning the segments, just swipe a finger in a straight line or an ‘L’ shape. There’s even an accelerometer built into the cube so that only the upwards-facing surfaces respond to your touch.

Rubik’s 360 is not an Xbox 360 title. It’s the next version of the popular cube puzzle that is a sphere. The device is about to be officially unveiled in Germany this week at a national toy show. As you might imagine nerds the world over are enthusiastic about laying their hands on it.

The gadget has six balls trapped inside transparent plastic spheres. To solve it, you have to figure out how to get the internal balls “from an inner sphere into matching slots on the outer sphere by shaking them through a middle sphere that has only two holes.”

Today Techno Source has announced the debut of the next Rubik’s Cube, literally. The Rubik’s Revolution is to debut at the International Toy Fair in New York next week and is a new electronic version of the popular toy from the 80’s.
